Luxury, modern well equipped lodge on a peaceful development in the hamlet of Soar just above Soar Mill Cove which offers a beautiful, quiet and unspoilt beach perfect for beachcombing and playing in rock pools. The lodge is in an area of 'outstanding natural beauty' in South Devon just outside of the quaint seaside village of Salcombe. Nearby there are amazing walks along the South West coastal path into Salcombe offering some of the UK's most stunning coastline. With access along the way to many other beaches and unspoilt coves. The area is well known for it's abundance of wildlife with lots of rare birds and the occasional red deer. However there is a licensed coop with bakery, petrol & ATM within 2 miles of the lodge. One of the biggest selling points of this lodge is its proximity to Salcombe (within 3 miles). This outstanding fishing village offers something for all the family traditional sweet shops, boutique shops, outstanding restaurants, stunning cafes, sailing, fishing and water sports. If you fancy a tipple or two The Queen Vic (with a huge play area out the back for kids) is worth a trip, or The Ferry Inn where you can watch the boats go by. Why Katie Richardson chose Malborough
My nana is the proprietor of the lodge as she is in her 90's I look after the bookings for her. Having discovered Salcombe in the 50's when she visited on holiday, Our whole family has come back again and again. Nana brought her children here (my father) and now nanas children bring theirs. After 4 generations she wanted to buy somewhere where we could all stay on our Salcombe holidays. Soar is just far enough away from Salcombe to escape the crowds but still within easy reach to access the village and the surrounding beaches. For those who like a good walk, the cliff walk into Salcombe offers exceptional views and some great pubs along the way.
What makes this Chalet unique
This lodge benefits from a fantastic rural location, where the kids can run free and play on the playground. The veranda is perfect for soaking up the sun and we have a gas BBQ great for long summer days. Marlborough is a only a short drive to the co-op offering daily fresh bread, fish and meat. Its also licensed. Tesco in Knightsbridge also deliver to the site which is an added bonus if you've had a long drive and don't want to pack everything. The lodge really is a home from home for us though and as such we've facilitated it with all utensils you should need.

Cosy and well appointed cabin
We had a lovely 5 days in ‘Soar Point’ (😂). We had everything we needed for a comfortable and easy stay. Met some
Neighbours who were really friendly and helped us out with where to go and what to do. The cabin has really comfy beds and a good shower. The heating is efficient and everything worked well.
The area is stunning. A really lovely walk takes you down to the most beautiful beach and there is a nice hotel where you can stop for a drink or afternoon tea.
Salcome Itself is lovely. Parking can be tricky so we did the park and walk from the edge of town (Park and ride in the Summer). Only a 10-15 min walk and worth it to avoid the stress!! Ferry worth doing to South Sands on nice day. It’s really peaceful and beautiful. We ate at The Victoria Inn twice- Good food and cosy atmosphere.
Also loved Hope Cove. Lovely to do a small part of the coastal path to South Milton if kids are not up for a longer walk. Then we ate at The Cove which is really good but we had a long wait for food as they were busy.
All in all a great stay.
We had a wonderful holiday, what a beautiful place to stay, pretty villages wonderful beeches.
The lodge was great, clean, well equiped (nice big fridge/freezer), had everything we needed and more.
The decked area was sunny all day ate breakfast out there and tea.
Nice and quiet at night.
Brilliant shop with lovely food and bits and bob (sweets/disposable BBQ etc.).
Was very well placed to visit pretty villages and coastal walks/beeches.
Lots of activities for our teenagers paddle boarding was fun especially watching me fall in!
A pleasant 13 min walk to Soar Mill Cove - lovely cove in gorgeous surroundings and a pleasent evening walk to.
We had a lovely time and would love to return soon.

Lodge was brilliant . Area amazing
10 out 10 for the whole weekend
It was a really quiet location
We really enjoyed our stay. It was close to the Coastal path and we walked a few times to the Walkers Hut for tea & cake. The lodge was really clean and functional. It is quite isolated but great for walking. Also visited Hope Cove and Thurlestone beach.
We had a great weekend, the location is lovely and quiet, ideal for anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life !!!
The Lodge was very spacious and had everything you would need , like home from home.
Just a short walk away is Soar Cove a nice stroll to beach area and Salcombe area is just stunning , our favourite place was Overbeck .
So if you’re looking for a chilled weekend away and wanting to explore Devon , we would highly recommend staying here at the Soar Point Lodge
Absolutely lovely, really well equipped Lodge.
Short walk to to a secluded Cove. Not far from the village that has pubs and a shop. Short drive to Salcombe and Kingsbridge. Loads of beaches with gourmet cafes on them. Perfect place to explore this beautiful part of Devon.
Glad you enjoyed the stay John. Hope to hear from you in future. Katie & family xxx
