This 4 bedroomed property sleeps 8 in an unrivalled situation. The rural setting affords spectacular views from all aspects. The property faces due south and benefits from all day sunshine. The house is situated in a private hamlet at the end of a long private drive with plenty of parking close to the house.The comfortable bright through lounge / kitchen leads onto a covered deck ideal for alfresco dining. The fully fitted dining kitchen provides everything to make this house feel like a home from home. All the bedrooms are accessed via 3 small steps from the hallway. The main double bedroom has an ensuite shower room with toilet and the bathroom with bath and overhead shower and toilet serves the remaining 3 bedrooms. A separate toilet is also situated next to the bedrooms. A fully enclosed and totally private garden is one of the best features of this property affording great views and tranquility. Fresh fruit from the orchard is available as well as some home grown vegetables. The village provides a baker, multi store and renowned butcher along with an alfresco restaurant. Tennis and fishing are available in a peaceful location ideal for picnics. The owners live in the hamlet and are available should you have any problems or need information.

Pretty 4 bedroom cottage sleeping 8 Idyllic rural location, but not far from all amenities. The fully hedged and enclosed garden offers peace of mind with young children although there is plenty of space for older children to play football etc without disturbing parents wanting to relax by the fenced pool. Close to the old Roman town of Jonzac with its renowned water park, comprehensive shopping and restaurants, it is a perfect place for a family holiday.

About Lynda McClure

.We bought our little hamlet in 2006 and have spent the last 9 years gradually bringing it back to life. 2 of the 3 houses needed total rebuilds as they had been derelict for years.

Having spent many years holidaying around every part of France, always with an eye out for a place to buy, we stopped in Jonzac for lunch one day and knew that we had found our perfect area. After 9 years of very hard work, we still know we made the right chose.

Five years ago we were delighted when our daughter Emma and her family decided to join us and has since built her own house on the footprint of a ruin adjacent to ours.

Looking for an area that gave us a tranquil lifestyle but still didn't deny us the culture and activities that we had grown used to in our native Cheshire, was quite a task, but we have achieved just that!

Bordeaux, only 40 mins away never disappoints as one of France's top cities and Cognac,Saintes and Angouleme with their Roman history and wealthy wine producing industry are only a short drive away.

What makes this cottage unique

our property, situated on a private road but only minutes from the bustling town of Jonzac couldn't be in a more peaceful location with plenty of space for children to play but perfect for watching birds and deer coming out of the woods. The surrounding fields are usually planted with either sunflowers or summer wheat and walking or cycling along tree shaded trails is idyllic.

A most peaceful retreat...

This cottage exceeded all my expectations. It was spotlessly clean and well looked after. The garden was private and the peace was extraordinary. The owners made us feel extremely welcome. Approachable and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. We will definitely return for a longer visit and recommend the cottage without reserve.

Coast/Beach:

Only 40 mins by car from beautiful award winning clean family beaches at St Georges de Didonne and Royan. An excellent facility featuring a man made beach,lakes, restaurant, activity centre and the renowned Les Antilles waterpark is only 10 mins drive away.

Travel:

Bordeaux airport is 40 mins drive away. Flights to Limoges Bergerac and La Rochelle are also convenient and are 1hr 40 mins away approx.

To drive from the channel ports takes approx 5 and a half hrs from Caen.

Distances:

Leoville (2mins) for bakery, butchers and alfresco barbecue restaurant .Fishing with permit. Tennis courts.

Jonzac for shopping and activities (10 mins)

Montendre for shopping and lakes (10 mins)

Baignes for shopping ( 8 mins)

A deposit of 25% will be required on booking unless the arrival date is less than 8 weeks away, in which case the full amount will be asked for. The balance will be required 2 months before the commencement of the holiday. Cleaning charges of 60 euros will be charged at the end of your stay.

Outside: The outside covered deck has a gas barbecue and table and chairs for 8. There are comfortable padded sun loungers for use in the garden and pool area. The pool is approx 10mx5m and is enclosed and about 40m from the house. Utility Room: The large utility room has a washer, ironing board and iron, sink and drinks fridge. Plenty of room for secure bike storage. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included. Charges for cleaning are made at the end of your stay, amounting to £60.
