Le Tournesol is a charmingly restored stone cottage with plenty of character and comfort, it is well-equipped and has satellite TV (UK & FR), DVD player & WiFi. Also with electric heating, it can be available all year round, perfect for house-hunters. Attached to our house but with it's own entrance, parking space and terrace, you have full use of our large garden and our knowledge of local tourism and the property market. We are a friendly but discreet family of 4 (two boys 10 & 8) with a well behaved dog, 2 cats and a few chickens.
Located only 5 minutes from Daglan, Cenac and Domme, all of which have shops and restaurants and 15 minutes from Sarlat-la-Caneda, the beautiful medieval centre of this area. All kinds of tourist attractions are very close - chateaux, river beaches, restaurants, towns, villages and gardens plus sporting activities - canoeing, golf, tennis, walking & cycling to name but a few.
We are an English family who have been living and working in the Dordogne since 1999. Juliette is a multi-tasking mum and local real-estate agent and Stuart has his own business installing satellite TV. We have two boys aged 10 & 9. Le Tournesol is attached to our house, so although we'll respect your privacy we're also on hand for any questions. We have a dog, a couple of cats and a few chickens but everyone's very calm & polite.
Juliette Bailey purchased this cottage in 2001
We have lived in the Dordogne since 1999, initially renting in Sarlat. Once we established that we loved the area and could make a living in France we bought our beloved home and settled down.
We are right in the middle of the attractive Dordogne valley also known as the valley of the chateaux and despite being here a long time we never tire of the spectacular countryside and pretty medieval villages and towns. There really is no better spot from which to explore the area.
We are accessible from Bergerac (1 1/4 hrs) and Brive (1 hr) airports and the nearest exit of the A20 at Souillac is 1/2 hr away.
Le Tournesol is attached to our house but has it's own entrance, terrace and parking space. In terms of location it doesn't get much better, we live in a rural hamlet on a hill between Daglan & Cenac. In the car we are 5 mins from either and they both have shops and restaurants, 5 mins from Domme (a Dordogne must-see) and the river Dordogne beaches and canoe stations and 15 minutes from Sarlat-la-Caneda (another must-see). The most popular chateaux to visit - Beynac, Castelnaud & Marqueyssac are also only 15 mins away. From our house we also have spectacular walks and cycle rides.
Le Tournesol has been our base for a week's house hunting in the area and each night we've come 'home' wishing we could just buy this one! Ian & Laura, Kent UK
The rainbows, the chateaux and churches and caves and villages of the Dordogne valley....we've got the photos and sent the postcards but the images in the mind's eye and the memory of your welcome will always be best. Thank you for the comfy house from which to explore it all. Phil & Mary, Oregon US
Merci mille fois pour votre super accueil dans ce gite très agréable et bien aménagé! Aurelia, Chris et 3 enfants, Cambridge UK
This is a fab Gite, very comfortable and ideally situated for exploring the surrounding area.
Juliette and Stuart were very helpful with suggestions of where to go and how to get there. We were never stuck for anything to do during our stay and would love to go back one day, I will be recommending this fab Gite to to my friends who want to travel to this area of the Dordogne. There is so much to do and see and the whole area is amazingly beautiful and clean.
Juliette and Stuart and their sons are a wonderfully welcoming family who are always on hand if you need them but leave you to have your own privacy in the comfort of their beautiful gite. The property has everything you need at hand with stunning views.
I can only imagine how stunning it looks in the sunshine!
I had a wonderful time in Juliette & Stuart's cottage. The property is delightful and has all you could need. The setting is beautiful, quiet and ideally located to visit the beautiful region of Dordogne.
Juliette & Stuart are very friendly and helpful and I will keep a very fond memory of my stay.
We have just returned from a wonderful week in this property. Our whole experience of the property (clean, well equipped, comfy) hosts (friendly, helpful, discreet) the area (stunning, picturesque) was first class! A holiday to remember for all the right reasons. Thank you
Charming property, clean, good facilities as described on advert.. Owners are very welcoming and helpful. Fantastic views and quiet location, perfect for a week's rest or walking. Easy access to all surrounding interesting towns.
Wonderful little gite in a picture postcard setting. All the amenities were on hand and all was clean and pristine in the gite. You're surrounded on three sides by ancient French renovated barn (the owners property), stone walls and a lovely garden. And from there it's the stunning hills of the Dordogne.
The local villages of Daglan or Cenac-et-St Julien are both wonderful with everything you'll need to make the stay complete and the local beach on the river was already perfectly peaceful. Loved it all!
5 minutes drive to the nearest river beach at Cenac, 15 minutes drive to a sandy beach at Grolejac lake with play area, safe swimming and health & nature walks around.

In Daglan there is a small supermarket, a baker and a fantastic delicatessen. There is a Credit Agricole bank and a charming Sunday morning market. Daglan also boasts one of the top restaurants of the area - Le Petit Paris and a charming teashop. It also has a lot of artisanal shops, artists, jewellers and even a milliner for example.
Cenac has a larger supermarket & petrol station, two bakers, a butcher and a greengrocer. It has a pharmacy, a newsagent, a beautician and numerous bars & restaurants. There is a nice market on Tuesday mornings.
Sarlat & Gourdon have most facilities, including train station and hospital.
Places of interest and leisure activities are in such abundance here that you needn't worry about getting bored.
