Watchmaker's Cottage is your perfect base for a holiday in the stunning Welsh borderlands, offering easy access to the historic market towns of Ross-on-Wye, Ledbury and Monmouth and areas of outstanding natural beauty such as the Forest of Dean, Wye Valley, and Black mountains, where you can find an array of outdoor activities for adults and young people alike.

Sleeps 4. The main bedroom has a Kingsize 4 poster bed with own bathroom, and the second bedroom can be made-up as either a kingsize double or twin beds with en-suite bathroom. We can also include a cot/child bed if required. The cottage also offers sitting room with log fire and fully fitted kitchen with dining area.

Outside there is a private patio and our beautiful 2 acre garden as well as walks from the drive entrance.

Outside: Our cottage is situated in a peaceful location within the beautiful grounds of a country house with private parking, 2 acres of terraced gardens including lawns, Rose Garden, Victorian Walled Kitchen garden and herbaceous borders. It is surrounded by meadows and orchards with views towards the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean Utility Room: iron, ironing board and Dyson vacuum cleaner Cleaning / Towels / Linen / : Towels and all linen included in the price, changed weekly. Lovely secluded cottage. Very well equipped. Great base to explore the local area

We had a lovely stay in this well equipped cottage. It overlooks a beautiful walled garden laid out with vegetables and fruit trees. There is plenty of parking and the area is lovely and quiet. We were greater with home made flapjacks on the table which went down a treat. There are many historical places to visit in the area so it makes a perfect base for exploring.

We learned a lot about Herfordshire!

The Cottage, garden & vegetable/fruit garden are amazing is complete and comfortable. Jenny & Co are very kind and helpful. The public gardens nearby are impressive, also the many large trees and hedges. The Brexit is a 'pain dossier' for people and divide the people and the countries in the UK, we observed. The roads are from '3rd world country quality', we noticed. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the 2 weeks holidays!!

A really beautiful property, with considerable care and attention to detail -everything is both pristine and stylish. We had a great week, and Jenny and Max are on hand if you need any ideas on days out. The location is peaceful and yet convenient. Recommended !!!

Totally comfortable and totally relaxing.

Over the years my wife and I have stayed at quite a few self catering cottages, many of which are adjoined to or on the grounds of the owners. However this is the first one that I’d really like to return to. The others were good but this one is great. Totally comfortable and totally relaxing. The owners are the friendly, accommodating and genuine sort that are so easy to get on with. The little extras like sending our son’s matchbox cars to us through the post when we thought we had lost them for good, speaks volumes.

The deceptively spacious cottage is appropriately furnished and the kitchen includes everything you could need - even cookery books! The main bed is so nice it’s difficult to get out of. The baths deep enough to really enjoy a good soak and the gardens are beautiful to wander through.

Our weeks stay in Watchmakers cottage

This was my wife and myself's first visit to Ross on Wye and we decided to stay in the Watchmakers cottage which we found to be absolutely fabulous.Spotlessly clean which everything you could possible need with the owners going out of their way to ensure we had a memorable holiday. Can highley recommend this cottage and if we are in the area again we will certainly head to the watchmaker.

Perfect holiday cottage

We were made extremely welcome on arrival. A cream tea awaited us, and Jenny picked us a bowl of fresh plums from the kitchen garden behind the cottage whilst we settled in. The cottage is cosy, thoughtfully equipped, and furnished to a high standard. So often the second bedroom is a bit of an afterthought in holiday cottages, but this isn't the case at Watchmakers. We enjoyed the beautiful gardens and views surrounding the house, and although set in peaceful countryside, it is not far from main roads, so it's a perfect spot to head off and explore the surrounding counties. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return one day.

Visit Puzzle Wood in the Forest of Dean and Gloucester Cathedral to see where quite a lot of Harry Potter was filmed

Booking may be made by phone or email. We ask for a 25% deposit with booking and the balance 8 weeks before arrival. Payment is made by personal cheque or bank transfer. We are unable to accept bank cards.

Changeover Day:
Change over day is usually Saturday, but we will be flexible if possible, especially for short breaks. Please ask.

Notes on prices:
Weekly rates are:-

Winter £360, Spring and Autumn £435, and Summer £530

Short breaks available: please ask for our 4/5 night rates as the OD system is not able to give correct rates currently at 2017
