Recently renovated to a high standard. Off road parking, front and rear gardens with lovely patio area. Modern upstairs bathroom with separate downstairs toilet. Wood burning stove.

About Sarah and Andrew Bowley

The house offered has been our family house for nearly 10 years before moving away from the area. We couldn't bring ourselves to sell this lovely property in such a stunning location so have decided to offer the house as a holiday let.

Why Sarah and Andrew Bowley chose Derbyshire Dales

When moving to Ashbourne 10 years ago we fell in love with the beautiful country side and the historic town. This lead to a search for a property in a quiet location with easy access to explore the countryside and the shops, restaurants and bars of the historic town.

This house came up and was too good to miss out on so after purchasing it underwent a full restoration and small extension to make it the beautiful property it is today.

What makes this house unique

The location of this house is ideal for both walkers and explorers and also those looking for a holiday in an old historic town.

From the rear of the property you cant take a footpath which leads directly out into the beautiful countryside accessing Dovedale, the Tissington Trail and many other great walks.

If you fancy walking down into the historic town then it is well worth exploring all the little alley ways and paths leading into the centre. When in the centre you can find the old cobbled market square and an array of shops, restaurants and bars where the old meets the new with something for everyone.

Property cleaned before arrival and weekly for stays over one week. Other: Gorgeous dining room with impressive French doors opening onto the front garden and stunning view of St Oswald's church spire. Feature fireplace (display only), wooden floor.

The property was spotlessly clean and in an ideal position overlooking the lovely market town of Ashbourne. We were a family group of 5 attending a wedding at nearby Osmaston Park. The property is an ideal base for walking and cycling including the nearby Tissington Trail. I would definitely like to go back again with more time to spend in this lovely area.

Brilliant holiday home in great location

We stayed in this lovely house with our three young children and found it to be clean, warm, comfortable and of a very high standard. The kitchen was excellently equipped and a lovely room to be in which made cooking family meals as easy as being at home (I loved the underfloor heating!). The bathroom is modern and clean with a great shower. The beds are very comfortable and of a good standard.

The house has great views over Ashbourne and it is only five minutes walk to the centre of the town. The nearby church bells do ring out regularly but this wasn't a problem for us as we quickly got used to them.

The location of the house is excellent for families as there is so much to do around the Peak District - we loved Dovedale and the stepping stones, the Tissington Trail, Gullivers Kingdom, the cable cars and caves in Matlock Bath, Bakewell, the Monsal Head, Alton Towers/Cbeebies Land (only 20 minutes drive away)...the list goes on.

Before staying in this house we had never returned to a holiday cottage but we have already stayed at this cottage twice and we are already planning on returning for a third holiday.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this holiday home.

Lovely house in a great location

We had a great stay over Christmas & New Years, and the house was perfect for us. The location is excellent, just minutes walk away from Ashbourne market place with some great shops, pubs and restaurants.

The house itself was clean and tidy and Sarah & Andrew (the owners) had kindly added Christmas decorations too, which was a nice touch. The kitchen and bathrooms were very well equipped, the bedrooms (and beds) were good too. The lounge was a little small, but otherwise the house was great.

We would definitely stay here again and would be happy to recommend it to friends and family.

A clean, spacious and well equipped cottage

The cottage was clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom were especially good. The only slight room for improvement could be the lounge but its restricted by size. The welcome wine and chocolates were appreciated. I would stay in the cottage again.

Beautiful home in lovely area

We had an amazing stay. Kitchen fully equipped with everything you need. Beds comfy and my son loved the fire in the lounge. As there were 5 of us there were arguments about who was sitting on the sofa as only big enough for 3 and there were 2 wicker chairs. Minor issue though.

We could walk into town, Waitrose and Co op were handy and the kids enjoyed the fish and chip shop.

We loved the Indian and made the most of a trip to Alton Towers.

We also visited Chatsfield House, had an amazing cream tea and fell in love with the farmers shop.

Didn't want to come home.

Lovely stay!

The house was delightful - and located very close to the centre of Ashbourne. The only disturbances of the week were the church bells! It made a great family base for exploring the Peak District and cycling on the Tissington Trail. Great for getting to Alton Towers and visiting local National Trust properties. Lots of useful information was available at the house and sent beforehand by email. It was clean and tidy with all essentials provided. Would definitely recommend to others.
