Fantastic central Edinburgh Old Town location. You are in the very heart of The Old Town on the historic Grassmarket itself. Perfect flat as a base for sightseeing, with many attractions within a few minutes walk. It's also great if you're working in Edinburgh as it's very well equipped with great WIFI. The Grassmarket is a lively, bustly area, and the 3 large windows in the lounge look down onto the Grassmarket itself. The quiet bedroom at the rear of the flat has a Kingsize bed with crisp bed linen and has unique views to the Castle, overlooking lovely gardens and greenery. The flat is cosy and feels light and airy, with modern well - equipped kitchen with granite worktops. Lovely fully tiled 4 piece bathroom. Stylishly decorated throughout. The sofa in the living area folds out to a double bed for additional guests. Check-in is from 4pm on the day of arrival and check-out by 10:30am on the morning of departure. We will be in touch once you've booked and will make sure you find us easily and have a great start to your stay.

In the Grassmarket/Old Town area you'll see street performers, artists and a wonderful Saturday market on the doorstep, with a mixture of food, crafts and vintage stalls. Perfect Festival and Castle location to live like a local!

Free High Speed WIFI. Good 4G in area also.

The flat is on the third floor in a traditional Old Town tenement building. 42 steps.

Why Kate Laing chose Old Town

Location, location, location!

It's just the perfect spot to experience true city living, whilst being close to Edinburghs attractions. The flat is decorated to a very high spec and is a mix of modern and retro pieces - it's full of character.

The Grassmarket is still very well conserved with many historic buildings, and an open, cobbled market square, which allows pubs and restaurants to spill out onto the pavement. There are also a number of small retailers in the area.

Did you know of Edinburgh's tallest buildings are in the Grassmarket, with some having eight or nine stories, each story of around 9 or 10 feet.

The Grassmarket was the location of public hangings in days gone by. Maggie Dickson being the last lady hung - you'll find the pub in her name just 2 doors along, beside The Last Drop pub!

We had a great welcome from the hosts, who showed us around the apartment and gave us some handy advice on nearby restaurants and sights. The apartment was great. Very well decorated and incredibly cosy without feeling small. My partner and I were sad when we had to leave it! The location is ideal for tourist sights around the old city of Edinburgh (including the castle, Holyrood, the national museum etc.) Highly recommended as a place to stay in Edinburgh.

What a little gem! In the crazy Hogmanay in edinbugh finding this little spot was marvelous. Super well located to explore the city Kate and Alan were super nice to start with, even leaving us with milk, tea and biscuits to recover after the long drive. The place was spotless, with modern kitchen and bathroom but with a very homey feeling overall. The living room looks down to the Grassmarket, making it a perfect spot for people watching (or going down for a pint!) and you wake up with a view to the castle from the main bedroom. The only thing to know is that it requires a few floors staircase but that was absolutely no problem. Thanks again to Kate and Alan. Can't wait to get back! P.s. They gave also amazing recon on bars/restaurants which was a perfect touch!!!

I really enjoyed the weekend at Kate's flat. Everything was as she said. She was very friendly and helpful explaining a lot of curiosities about the city. There was even a birthday card. The flat was just perfect! Cleaned, fully equipped, and well situated. I'll come back to Edinburgh and I'll be in the same flat for sure! I would highly recommend it!

Loved the location, the apartment is modern, clean and pleasant. I knew that it was a 3rd floor walkup but had forgotten that in Europe the 3rd floor is really the 4th floor in the U.S. It was quite a schlep with our suitcases but once up there the up and down was great exercise and easy! Easy access to pubs, buses, and tour buses. Kate left a binder with information about the area that we found helpful.

Very convenient

We loved this Grassmarket apartment. It was central to everything, modern, and homey. We could walk to almost everything we wanted to see, and great restaurants, pubs, and cafes were right in the neighborhood. After walking around Edinburgh all day, we enjoyed coming back and relaxing in the apartment.

Loved everything about this flat!

My husband and I recently (August 2017) stayed at this flat for a week. The location is excellent. Walking distance to just about every attraction. Many restaurants/pubs to choose from in the area. The flat itself is clean, bed is comfortable, bedroom location makes for a peaceful night's sleep, equipped kitchen with nice appliances and nice modern bathroom. Kate was easy to communicate with and check-in/check-out was simple. My husband and I plan to return to Edinburgh and we will, without hesitation, try to book this flat again. Highly recommended!!

Excellent location, very comfortable stay

We were very pleased with this apartment. Little did we realize the perfect location until we were actually in Edinburgh. This apartment is very close to the Royal Mile and just down the hill from the Edinburgh Castle. I recommend taking the Airport Express bus to Waverly station and then taking a taxi to the unit. We found wonderful restaurants and bakeries and a convenience store that made our stay so enjoyable. Be sure to plan your trip so that you can enjoy the Saturday Grassmarket outdoor market. The description of the unit is accurate and the owners were so helpful and responsive to my questions. Thanks for a lovely visit!

Beautiful apartment in the perfect location

We spent 4 nights in this wonderful Edinburgh flat and it was the perfect location from which to enjoy all the City has to offer. We walked everywhere (Castle, Prince Gardens, National Museum, Arthur's Seat, folk music pubs and more) and had dozens of great restaurant options right outside the door. We will absolutely stay here again. The owners are lovely and very helpful.
