About Des & Lizzy Houghton-Connell
We are both very creative people, our interests lie in landscape design, art and antiques. The house serves as an inspiring place for us to be in our retirement whether it is to spend an afternoon drawing, reading or just enjoying the views.
Des & Lizzy Houghton-Connell purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why Des & Lizzy Houghton-Connell chose Petersfield
The property has been our ongoing project. Originally the site was a farm workers cottage but with loving care and attention to detail we have built a light, airy, comfortable place to be whatever the weather. We never tire of the location..... each visit is different and you are certainly in touch with nature and all its wonders at Foxleaze Cottage. The visiting hares, foxes, deer; the ever changing landscape of the surrounding farmland - sometimes barley, sometimes wheat..... the fascination of harvest time - its all so wonderful whatever the time of year.
What makes this Cottage unique
The location of the cottage is fabulous. You feel as though you are in the middle of nowhere, yet within 10 minutes you have all the convenience of the thriving market town of Petersfield. It is a great place to act as a base for exploration of the stunning surrounding areas. Foxleaze Cottage is such a special place for us that our aim is for our guests to feel at home on holiday and enjoy the location as much as we do in a comfortable and homely cottage.

A truly stunning and tranquil location.
We have just returned from a long bank holiday weekend at the peaceful cottage. The location is stunning with wonderful views , from every window, over fields and countryside . The house is airy, open, spacious and very well equipped. The walks from the front door are many and varied, especially the pleasant stroll to the 'pub with no name'. The sunset on one evening was spectacular. The beds were comfortable and the beautiful crisp white linen sheets were pure luxury. We would be more than happy to return to this property. Many thanks for a chilled and peaceful few days. Ideal to recharge the batteries.
Stayed at Foxleaze for the weekend to attend a family wedding being held locally. The accommodation was wonderful! So much more comfortable than staying in a hotel! Plenty of room for everyone, luxurious bed linen and very comfortable beds. Kitchen had everything we required and the lovely goodies left to welcome us certainly did the trick. Thank you Elizabeth for sharing this lovely house with us.
We had a wonderful week at Foxleaze. Extremely well equipped, comfortable beds with crisp white bedlinen for a restful sleep. A real home from home.
