New Moon Villa is a charming and utterly peaceful villa of over 3,600 sq ft located on a ridge above Gibbs bay on the west coast of Barbados. The villa has 4 large air conditioned bedrooms, 2 en suite, with two bedrooms enjoying a shared bathroom, and an additional house bathroom. The villa has all the amenities a discerning holiday maker could want including an 10m x 5m pool and beautiful views over the 2 acres of private garden to the azure Caribbean sea. Enjoy the views from the pool deck, where while you enjoy sipping rum punch as the sun sets.
View monkeys who drink from the pool, local black bellied sheep who come to nibble on the lawn, and the bats and fireflies at sunset as they dive to drink from the pool as you relax in total privacy and seclusion.
A villa truly not to be missed, but don't take our word for it, check out our reviews.
We are Alun and Michelle. We usually call Jersey in the Channel Islands home. Alun is a Chartered Accountant and Michelle works within travel.
New Moon Villa is our only other home, and we are constantly looking to make it better. We only hope you love it as much as we do!
Alun Griffiths purchased this villa in 2014
We travelled a lot around Asia and the States and first went to Barbados in 2013 and just fell in love with the place. 6 months later we bought Villa Viktoria which we renamed New Moon after our daughter Emily who was orignially named after the childrens book, Emily of New Moon.
New Moon Villa is on its own on the west coast with a lovely view of the sea below. Being on its own large plot and not surrounded by other properties results in fabulously dark nights to enjoy the night sky if like me you are an amateur astronomer.
The villa whilst on its own (save for the owners cottage adjacent to the car parking to the rear) is still very close to the nightlife bars and restaurants of Holetown and Friday night ribs at the nearby Chris's place is a must do.
I stayed 3 weeks over christmas and had a lovely time ! The villa was perfectly located and the view from the poolside was amazing. The villa had everything we needed and the bonus was that there was a travel cot which came in very handy. My husband and I would recommend this villa to anyone and we will be going back !!
New Moon Villa location was excellent with Gibbs and St Auburn’s beaches just down the hill, two of our favorites! The villa is entered through electric gates, on one level, its clean, modern, panoramic views, well equipped and large enough to share without being on top of each other. Lovely pool and deck straight out the house, lots of comfy sun beds and shade. Huge gardens beautifully kept with fresh bananas and coconuts. Anne Marie the housekeeper was excellent! Alun the owner was quick and informative at communication and cannot recommend the villa higher other than we’ve booked for next year! The Property is locally managed by another Anne Marie who was really helpful with introduction and while we were there. We hired cars so traveling around the Island was easy. For food, Cost U Less is good, although the locals call it ‘Cost U More’!! Holetown was demolishing its supermarket for an even better one next year. Jordan’s supermarket in Speightown has the best supermarket location in the world overlooking crystal blue sea. The lovely Ms. Young sells the best fresh local fish near Payne’s Bay. We had a Rum n Raisin ice cream crisis! The local supplier had shortages despite us offering to bring a bottle or two round to the factory, eggs were in shortage a few years back. We discovered the Tarzan trampoline boat moored outside the Lonestar which kept our kids happy and exhausted!! We snorkeled at Payne’s Bay, Sunset Crescent, Folkestone Marine Park, Lonestar, Western, Reeds and Gibbs beach, fantastic colours, large stingrays, turtles and lots of fish. Lonestar restaurant is our favorite on the Island, ladies got the Jimmy Choo’s out and glammed up. Alun recommended ‘Chris Place’ a Bajan local restaurant very close to New Moon Villa. Friday night BBQs ribs were washed down with a few lethal rum punches and a ‘jump up’. A night at the Fish Pot was good. A few daytrips over to the east coast to Crane Beach, lunch at the Coach House Restaurant at the Crane Hotel for the best Club Sandwiches, Jason is the man! The afternoon boogie boarding on the fabulous pinky ultra soft sand and huge tumbly waves, my best afternoon ever! Lastly I recommend a private hire of Goodtimes catamaran, the crew Lester, Chad and OG have become friends over the years and great fun! Lunch and snorkeling with turtles and over ship wrecks. My only disappointment was we didn’t see any wild monkeys this visit, normally we see lots. Just book!!
We just got home from a fantastic vacation in Barbados. This was our first time visiting the island and we loved it. We stayed in New Moon Villa from Mar 9th to the 16th and wished it was longer! We came to the island with another family so in total there were 4 adults and 4 kids and the house was perfect. Although there were buses going all the time, we ended up renting a van for the week and took advantage of that every day. We got groceries at Cost U Less and found everything we needed. We took a catamaran snorkelling trip with El Tigre and had a super time. We also took a drive up the west coast to the north and visited the Animal Flower Caves, continued on and visited the Soup Bowl - stopping for lunch there before making our way back to the villa. Found ourselves exploring St Lawrence Gap and shopping in Holetown. Our favorite beach was the one closest to our villa - Gibbes Beach. Quiet beach and clear waters were great for snorkelling. The Villa was exactly what you expected. Rooms suited our families perfectly. Lots of areas to relax. With the patio doors open it always felt like you were outside. The view was beautiful. The pool was wonderful. Overall we would definitely recommend this villa and would love to visit again!
We had a fantastic holiday at New Moon Villa. The villa is incredibly spacious and the layout works perfectly for large groups and families. The location is ideal for exploring the beach's along the West Coast. The management team were more than helpful and called us to check everything was running smoothly. The cleaner was lovely and even washed our clothes. We went out for lunch most days but in the evenings enjoyed the outdoor BBQ to grill up fish we bought from the local markets. The TV's having Netflix was an added bonus as it kept the kids happy in the evenings after a long day at the beach. We can't wait for our return trip.
Stayed at New Moon Villa for 2 weeks in August myself my partner and our 10 year old son, who loved the pool as did we it was so warm he had such a great time the whole stay as he would be in the pool and then he would be in one of the immaculate bedrooms watching Netflix! cannot fault it, from the moment you arrive you are greeted by Ann-Marie who is so lovely, to the housekeeper who is a little gem, the Villa itself has everything you need a fully equipped kitchen all bedrooms have a/c also a BBQ which we used a few times by the pool. Whether you want to relax by the pool and watch the sun go down with a rum punch! a Banks Beer or laze in the hammock in the garden which is huge, Jack who looks after the garden and also will get you some coconuts! yum. If you don't want to hire a car you can walk down the road and get a bus or you can get a taxi no problem We used (Max 249-5115) As for eating out the Lone Star is a must you will not be disappointed just like you wont be disappointed with New Moon Villa I would 100% recommend this Villa, we shall be returning in February Next Year. (Owners Alun and Michelle) Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.
We had an amazing time at the New Moon Villa. The villa catered for all our needs and much more. The pool was a godsend and we thoroughly enjoyed watching the sun set each day while having a drink on the patio. Everything about the villa was superb; the cleanliness, the staff and the seclusion. We would love to return one day.
We have recently returned from a two week holiday at New Moon Villa. It was amazing !! We were a large group of 9 (4 adults and 5 children), and travelled to Barbados not only for a family holiday but to get married too. The villa had everything; and I mean everything that you could need. The private pool, and lovely gardens with spectacular sunset views are situated on the edge of a residential area with total seclusion, yet only a few minutes walk from Chris’ place to re-stock on essentials. The villa is set on a ridge approx 15 minutes walk downhill to Gibbes beach which can only be described as paradise and a beach that we mostly had to ourselves. If you are looking for a beach with facilities and watersports Mullins is the next beach (additional 5 minutes walk/3 by car) and we would highly recommend Mullins Beach bar for lunch or a sun-downer or two. The villa is fully equipped, bedrooms are spacious and the kitchen contained everything you would need to cater for a large group; including a large American Fridge/Freezer which easily housed almost 2 weeks worth of food for us all. Pool towels were included, together with a Sonos sound system which was great and easy to use. The TVs with Netflix were a welcome break from the sun for the children who enjoyed watching a number of movies. Anne-Maria our housekeeper was simply the best and couldn’t do enough to help, to come home from a holiday with no washing was a first for us! We opted not to hire cars, taxis were plentiful and to experience the yellow buses was great fun. A short walk to the bottom of the hill, the buses will stop for you and run up/down the coast all day long for 2 BD$ per person per ride. We shopped at Cost-U Less which we would recommend for large groups as most items you could buy in bulk.
The owners Alun and Michelle were fantastic hosts, Michelle pre-booked our airport transfers and Alun was quick to respond to our questions. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful Bajan home, we will be back.
2 minutes drive to the bottom of the hill is the lovely Gibbes Bay. Approximately 700m and 10 minutes if you want to walk it.
Allow 40 minutes for the 10 miles drive from the airport depending on traffic. Use of a car is not essential but highly recommended.
Chris's bar and variety shop is less than 1/4 mile. Holetown for nightlife, cafes bars, high end shopping and restaurants is approximately 4 miles, Mullins beach with its famous Bar is approximately 1 mile and Speightstown is approximately 2 miles for a more local shopping experience.
The large gardens provide limes, mangos, bananas and off course plenty of coconuts to keep the punch jug full. Pick them yourself or simply ask Jack the groundskeeper to who will shimmy up a tree on request.
Some people have asked about the separate Cottage located to the rear of the property. This is private owners accommodation. The property is separated from the villa by a fence although access is via the communal parking area. The cottage does not overlook any of the bedrooms or the pool etc and is generally occupied between 4-8 weeks a year. If this is a concern for please mention it when booking. If we are in the Cottage please come and say hello - we are happy to offer advice on anything from places to visit, how to use the TV's or how to make a decent rum punch!

We prefer payment by bank transfer to our UK bank account however we can also accept payment by paypal or credit card. Card payments and paypal transactions incur a 3.5% fee. If you are booking from the US or Canada we can accept payments in USD and usually ask that these are made direct to our property manager in Barbados. Once you have paid your deposit we will send you are detailed villa guide which has the latest wifi passwords etc and also details some prestocking options although any specific items or requests can be accomodated - just ask! Michelle can arrange airport transfers and hire cars for you through her travel business. Prestocking and transfers need to be paid direct on arrival. We generally recommend taking a few USD with you as they are accepted everywhere and then taking out some local currency from ATM's when you arrive. There is one in the airport or if you are getting a transfer the driver will be happy to stop at a cashpoint on route.
The security deposit is returned less any damage or loss deductions (if any) after the completion of your stay. We have a 7 night minimum stay throughout the year except over Christmas and New Year when the minimum stay is 2 weeks.
