About Catherine Lynch
This was a great place to spend a week and exceeded our high expectations. Its a great area on the island, quiet, shady and cool sea breezes to keep the heat away (we were there in a heatwave). The house is as good as it looks.
Very comfortable accommodation in a very quiet location
The property is generally well serviced with the essentials. The accommodation is very comfortable and well proportioned for a 2 bedroom bungalow. The appeal is the sea view from a lovely veranda. The downside for some maybe the very steep steps up to the property. The garden and outside space is looking a bit unloved and if the shrubs and hedges at the front are not better managed the sea view will be hidden. The garden is not fully secure for those visiting with a dog, not a problem for us as our dog does not wander far from us and she was very happy pottering. We also saw the red squirrels in the garden a couple of times. Bonchurch has a lovely walk along the seafront and we walked both directions along to Ventnor and Steephill Cove and the other way to Shanklin. Overall we enjoyed our week very much, the weather was spectacular which always helps but really relaxed from the pace of the IOW and the comfort of this lovely property
Wonderful Relaxing Stay
This wonderful property is so quite yet in easy reach of lots of interesting places to visit. The view from the covered decking is amazing and a great place to have our meals or just sit and relax. The facilities are great and we would definitely come back for another stay.
Superb location with great views
Longwood Edge is just as described. It sits in a lovely elevated location with great views out to the English Channel, and is the ideal place to relax and unwind.
It is well equipped even to the extent of having WI-Fi and Sky, along with all the utilities you would need for a stay for a family, including our dogs.
The gardens are lovely, with many birds visiting, including some Jays who were new to us, and we were even treated to a visit by a Red Squirrel on our last day.
I would thoroughly recommend Longwood Edge as a destination as it is well located for all the best places on the Island.
Couldn't fault it.
Really nice bungalow with a lovely garden. The Bonchurch Inn is just down the hill and Bonchurch itself has real historic charm and a sense of tranquillity. Once you find the path and steps by the old church down to the sea there is a 20 minute coastal walk to Ventnor with it's nice beaches and restaurants. We were lucky with the weather and so it was perfect.
Longwood Edge - Great!
Simply a lovely location overlooking the sea with sun over the property all day. Modern facilities internally equipped with everything you should require to self cater. Would gladly return plus definitely recommend to others - we had a wonderful stay. Our weather was unfortunately a little poor so we were more than happy to have the home from home facilities and comforts to keep us entertained between the rain showers. NO real negatives other than the garden could be managed a little better (lots of bramble an nettles) although during our stay the gardener did indeed cut the lawn which made the areas look a little neater.
Coast/Beach: Ventnor's award winning beach is a 5 minute drive. From Ventnor you can walk to beautiful Steephill Cove which remains unspoilt.
