The Grain Store, Stancombe Manor, Nr. Kingsbridge, South Devon - Rural Location, part of a country estate, 4 miles from Kingsbridge, and close to numerous beaches

The Grain Store is a comfortable, light and airy converted stone barn situated on a lovely 21 acre country estate. Close to award winning beaches, stunning coastal walks and a wide array of activities including numerous water-sports all within 15-20 mins drive. It makes an ideal setting for family holidays or special gatherings.

The Grain Store offers families and groups a high standard of accommodation across 3 large bedrooms (1 ground floor), all with en-suite bathrooms (2 of which upgraded in Spring 2016), and a further separate cloakroom. White Company bedlinen and towels are provided and well behaved pets are welcome.

The property benefits from a large, open plan kitchen, lovely dining, living space with double height ceilings and solid wood flooring.

The kitchen was installed new in Spring 2016 and benefits from new appliances throughout including dishwasher, Neff gas hob and oven and microwave oven, full height fridge freezer and Nespresso coffee machine. There is also a washing machine located in the downstairs cupboard. The sitting room has large flat screen T.V with freesat, DVD player and iPod compatible sound system.

There is private parking for 2 cars at the front of the property and an outside space with dining table, chairs and Weber BBQ which captures the afternoon and evening sun, ideal for alfresco dining and bbq's.

The popular estuary towns of Salcombe and Dartmouth are close by and offer excellent water-sport facilities and an array of interesting shops, delis and restaurants including 2 supermarkets. The neighbouring village of Frogmore has an excellent bakery/village shop/post office and pub, whilst Chillington village which is only a little further away has a health centre, pub and a few more shops.

We bought The Grain Store just before Christmas in 2014 as a place to spend some quality family time and share with guests, friends and family all the benefits that Stancombe and the South Hams bring.

The facilities on the Stancombe estate mean it has something to offer all year round and its location means you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside on the estate but be only a short drive from the water, beaches and nearby towns.

Excellent stay

During our stay at The Grain Store our party of 8 used all the excellent facilities that were available to us e.g. swimming pool, sauna, tennis courts, games and snooker rooms.

The accommodation was well equipped with plenty of room for our large group with two parking spaces right outside the accommodation.

Kingsbridge was only about 15 minutes drive away with lots of shops and supermarkets.

We would definitely recommend this accommodation and really enjoyed our stay.

Excellent Stay Most impressed with the Grain Store

Only 3 of for this stay. David, Sarajane and Soraya (aged 9). The Grain Store was ideal for us. Parking was straight outside the Main Door. Great Water pressure meant Super Showers in the mornings. The weather was mixed so we used the Tennis court, Swimming Pool and games room on the duller days and then the Sandy beach at Mill cove and Shingle Beach at Blackpool sands on the hot days. Dartmouth was a delight with a trip on the boat to Greenway (Agatha Christies summer retreat) and good food at Kingsbridge (La Ranchera - Mexican and Crabshells by the waterfront) we would certainly recommend the Grainstore for any Family. Just one upgrade would make it even better - some wifi - we noticed telephone lines into the building with a BT socket by the back door. So a little extra on the broadband would make it a 6 Star Holiday

Well done Tom and Roz and we look forward to Stancombe Manor in the future!

Owner's Response: Thank you David. In relation to the wifi, unfortunately the property is not currently able to be connected as there is insufficient capacity on the existing local wired circuit for a line into the property. If this changes then we will certainly install wifi, however at present this is not possible. There is excellent wifi at the Crabshell Inn at Kingsbridge a short drive away where you can sit in their pleasant lounge for the cost of a coffee. Thank you, Tom & Roz

Beautiful large barn, great location, pool access.

The Grain Store is part of Stancombe Manor which is made up of lovely old converted farm buildings with an indoor pool, tennis court, games room and ample room for kids to play safely outdoors surrounded by wheat fields only 5 miles from the town of Kingsbridge which has 2 supermarkets, nice park and other nice shops. The property has been decorated to a high standard, brand new kitchen connected to open plan living /dining space with 3 large airy bedrooms- 2 upstairs and 1 downstairs. At one point we had 6 adults and 4 kids staying and we all had plenty of room. The owners were very helpful and responsive. Lots of family friendly beaches nearby we recommend Bantham, Thurlestone Slapton sands and Blackpool Sands. Great fish and chips at Start Bay Inn, Torcross. We would definitely stay again.

Perfect family home in a peaceful area

I visited this property with my friend, and both my three children and her teenage daughter. My cousin and husband also joined us, along with their dog. The house cannot be faulted, every tiny detailed had been catered for. There was everything I could need for my two year old from highchair, travel cot, safety bar on bed to toddler cutlery and built in stair gates top and bottom. The house was spacious and extremely clean, the linen and towels were fresh and excellent in quality. The bbq was used and was a bonus.

All of us enjoyed using the tennis court, sauna and indoor swimming pool. The games room was fantastic.... We were lucky with the weather, but had we not been this would have been a god send!

We drove to all the beaches, however most were close. There were an abundance of beautiful beaches and areas to visit and several delicious restaurants to suit a variety of taste.

We had a fantastic week away and will definitely be visiting again! Thank you

The Linsey/Pearson holiday

The Grain Store is an excellent holiday home in a peaceful location within easy reach of some very beautiful South Hams' villages, beaches and Dartmouth. The accommodation was larger than expected and of a very high standard. The games room, tennis court and swimming pool perfect l to enjoy after our days outings and on drizzly days. This kept our 12 and 7 year old boys very occupied and gave our 90 year old Mum a chance to play pool with her grandchildren. Would highly recommend the Grain Store and would love to return for another holiday.

Devonshire Idyll

Spent a marvellous time here exploring this part of Devon and, on the couple of days when it was drizzling, having intense snooker, table football, table tennis, pool competitions with the boys. The Barn was kitted out to a high specification. Highly recommended.

Coast/Beach:

Torcross and Slapton are the nearest beaches on the A381 about 10 mins by car and Blackpool sands about 20 mins. They are shingle beaches, whilst the sandy beaches of East Portlemouth, (opposite Salcombe) North and South Sands, Hope Cove, Thurlestone, Bantham and Bigbury are about 30 mins by car.

Travel:

The nearest airports are located in Exeter and Plymouth. Totnes is the nearest railway station.

Distances:

10 minute drive to Kingsbridge, 20 minute drive to Salcombe and Dartmouth.

Further Details:

Excellent Bakery in Frogmore (5 mins away) and an additional very well provisioned local shop in East Allington (7 mins away)

Large Tescos and Morrisons in Kingsbridge (10 mins away) which also has excellent restaurants, bars, delis and numerous independent shops and banks to be explored. There is also a great cinema.
