About Chris and Carol Heard

We moved down from Surrey in Dec 2013 looking for a location closer to the family farm in Hartland.

Chris was born and brought up North Devon and as a result has a wealth of local knowledge which he happily passes on to any guest that needs direction.

We love the peace and tranquillity at the Pines and live here happily with out friendly Boxer Daisy.

Chris and Carol Heard purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Chris and Carol Heard chose North Devon

Eastleigh is a peaceful little hamlet 3 miles from Bideford and 9 miles from Barnstaple, We are 3 miles from the beach at Instow with its pubs and restaurants and close to many local attractions such as cycling on the Tarka trail Golf on one of the many courses, walking the many picturesque coastal paths or on Exmoor. Surfing at Westward Ho, Woolacoombe or Croyde & Bude or seeking out local produce at the farmers markets in Appledore,Barnstaple or Bideford.

Lynton and Lynmouth are a 45 minute drive away and the beautiful gardens of Rosemoor are a must for all gardeners. Not forgetting the cream teas so expertly done at Duncton Mill & the Hockings ice cream, the area is crammed with wonderful things to while away the time come rain or shine.

“A Hidden Treasure”

5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2014

A little off the beaten track but very close to everything, we were pleased as punch with ourselves that we found this hidden treasure.

As a family of three (one child) and three small dogs, it is difficult to find anywhere that will accommodate us as a family with mum, dad, their little dog, and brother and sister with their families and little dog. But we need look no further. With the varied types of accommodation, we can all be together as well as separate. A cottage, converted stables, as well as a beautiful Hotel, we could even all get together for a Christmas break here. We loved the warm friendly welcome, the attention to detail and helpful, sincere way that Carol and Chris told us about the area and what we might be able to do locally and further afield. We have already booked to stay again and love the beautiful gardens, the views and the pretty cottage we stayed in. We had a lovely time and would highly recommend The Pines at Eastleigh. Thank you, Chris and Carol.

Room Tip: We stayed in Vine Cottage and four of us with four small dogs enjoyed a lovely break.
