Seaside Chalet near Freshwater and Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, a minute's walk to the sandy beach, safe bathing, spectacular sea and coastal views

Sunnyside Bungalow faces South and the sun streams in all day through the big picture window. Not only that, but it has one of the best locations of any bungalow on this private holiday park. A few paces away are the cliffs overlooking the beach of Colwell Bay and from the sitting room and patio you have views of the famous Needles landmark that juts out into the Solent. You can watch ships coming and going and see sunsets that take your breath away. Freshwater, 2 miles down the road, is where you will do your food shopping and the Red Lion is a favourite pub with visitors. The pretty historic port of Yarmouth is where the ferry comes in from Lymington and here you'll find a host of places to eat on a night out. Nearer to home, and directly on the beach, are popular cafes and bars like “The Hut” and “The Waterfront” which have wonderful views, especially at sunset. It's cosy and family-friendly with other bungalow guests nearby for children to meet and play with in the grounds, or on the safe beach below. We have made every effort in decorating the bungalow to reflect its seaside location with painted wood panelling, ship models and pictures and comfy sofas and chairs. There are books to read, guides on the Isle of Wight, and plenty of games to play with, as well as TV with Freeview, and most importantly for many, our own unlimited use of the Internet. If you like walking, cycling, riding, sailing or just exploring the island's many attractions, we think our cosy bungalow with its great seaside location and views will be ideal for you – self-catering on the Isle of Wight at its best!

About Barbara Lascelles

We are semi-retired, living in London where we run an antique clock business, hiring out clocks as props for television and film and taking part in antique fairs where we sell clocks to the public, interior designers and restaurants.

Roger particularly likes travelling and tourism. He studied Tourism at the University of Hawaii and subsequently became Director of Tourism in the Seychelles. He enjoys the tourism potential of the Isle of Wight.

We have two grown up children, who also live in London and enjoy a holiday on the Isle of Wight with their own families as much as we do.

Why Barbara Lascelles chose Isle of Wight

In 2010 we were staying with friends at their bungalow and enjoyed the holiday so much, that we purchased a bungalow there and then, near the sea with uninterrupted views over the Solent.

We had first planned to use it for ourselves and to rent it out occasionally, but when we found out about this bungalow, which had stunning views and sun all day long, we decided to buy it just for letting as a holiday home. It also offered us the opportunity that our children could join us on a holiday here while having their own space.

What makes this chalet unique

Linstone Chine is a magical place, so near to the sea, unspoilt and far away from the hustle and bustle of a town or city. The perfect place to relax, but also a good starting place for exploring the island on foot, by bike or by car.

The bungalow is only minutes away from the beach leading up to Colwell Bay, which is in part sandy and perfect for holiday entertainment. The 40 acre of ground surrounding the bungalows are always well kept and offer plenty of space for activities and incorporates a pitch'n put golf course, a football pitch and a substantial children's climbing frame and play area.

We very much enjoy that we can be on our own if we want to and meet people in other bungalows if we feel like it. The place is never crowded.

We had a BRILLIANT time on the IOW. The location was WONDERFUL - spectacular views of the sea and sunset. We tried to eat outside for all our meals to admire it. Great location for country walks along the coastal path or nature reserves. We LOVED being so close to the sea and being able to so quickly walk down to it. Another highlight was going on a guided FOSSIL HUNT at Compton Bay. Contact the Dinosaur Farm for details. The bungalow had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Thank You!

Notes on accommodation: Cots and High Chairs can be rented from the office! Please note that unfortunately dogs are not allowed on the site, even well-behaved ones! You have your own private patio directly outside in front of the large picture window and will find there a picnic table and sun umbrella plus two padded sun loungers. This is the perfect place for an outdoor breakfast or sunset drinks with the landmark Needles always in view. Private parking for one car at the back and a handy rotating washing line for swimming costumes, towels etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The bungalow is thoroughly cleaned before each rental period. Bed linen is provided and your beds are made up before you arrive with duvets and pillows covered. Towels not included, so please bring your own.

A wonderful island producing fantastic memories

Divine. Suited and met all requirements. Homely, extremely well equipped and maintained. Cosy, amazing and not scary at all are descriptions given by my children! Access to beach also fab. Will definitely return In the future and recommend to others. Very well priced and not a rip off as I have found with other holiday accommodation who seem to over inflate prices due to time of year. This makes a huge difference to families and is a reason why recommendations are given to others.

Yet another relaxing stay.

This is the second time we've stayed at the bungalow and again it's been fabulous. It sits in a beautiful location with stunning views and has everything you need to enjoy your holiday here on the island. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

We stayed in the chalet for 1 week and were pleasantly surprised with the view and how cosy the chalet felt. We were out everyday due to the good weather but spent the mornings and evenings sitting outside while the kids played on the grass (aged 2 & 5 ). The beach is a short walk away which was a bonus and every tourist attraction was around 30 minutes drive away.

I would highly recommend to a friend as we had a fantastic time here and will definitely be returning.

This has got to be one of the best locations on the Isle of Wight for a holiday. Lovely bungalow with an absolutely beautiful view across the bay to the needles. If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday then look no further.

The chalet is situated on the cliff top, only minutes away from the sandy, family friendly beach of Colwell Bay, with spectacular views and good bathing facilities


The nearest ferry port is Yarmouth (route: Lymington to Yarmouth), only 10 min drive from there, car is preferable, but the Vectis Bus No 7 stops nearby with 15 min walk to the chalet from there. A taxi ride from Yarmouth ferry port can be arranged. Please contact us for further details.


10 min drive to Yarmouth and same distance to Freshwater, where you will find shops like Co-op and Sainsbury's, a Boots and other stores, pubs, cafes and restaurants. Freshwater also has an excellent Sports Centre with swimming pool and gym.

Changeover Day:
