Very very nice cottage

We found there everything we needed, even plush toys and board games for boys (there are dolls for girls too:)). Quite location, nice walks, easy parking, close to Haverigg as well as to Millom. Thank you very much!

We had a totally chilled time in this cosy cottage. Enjoyed lots of fabulous walks and totally chilled in the well equipped cottage.

We have visited several times and have always enjoyed our stays hence returning back. It has been a few years and the WiFi addition is perfect! We will certainly return to this lovely escape and perfect holiday retreat!

Booked this for friends and family who were attending my sons party at the ski bar. They were very happy with the clean accommodation and location.

Beaitiful location, very kind and pleasant owner. From one bedroom seaview, from second view on beautiful landscape. Kitchen equppied in everything that you need. Even that was pouring down with rain I am giving 12 stars on 10 possible. Hopefully will go back during the summer

It was OK....

  • 3 of 5

Not suited to young families. Weird bathroom with stained glass window over loo looking into the lounge. Great for the discerning voyeur! Not centrally heated. 2 electric heaters provided. Cutlery is VERY child friendly. Remember those safety scissors from primary school? Yeah... the kitchen knives are that sharp. If you want to eat, bring your own knives as those provided are so blunt that cutting a grape for our little boy turned into a mushy mess. Equally, trying to prepare our own food was just a disaster. Beds were comfy and warm. Cleanliness: I would say that some effort had been applied in that the vacuum cleaner was turned on and then promptly turned off at some point before our stay. I could have made a nice pair of silk underpants with the amount of cobwebs. Bring slippers as the floor is cold, or just wear hot-water bottles on your feet (not provided). Wi-Fi signal is limited so don't count on a perfect service (just think of the teenagers!). As with other guests, we would report the same that the directions are vague. One simple line of "drive through the campsite" would have been perfect!

No... I wouldn't recommend or stay again.

Wildlife

Hodbarrow’s wildlife rich coastal lagoon is the largest stretch of coastal open water in north-west England. Part of the lagoon is owned by the RSPB and several pathways take you through different habitats leading to the hide. From here, you can watch Cumbria’s only breeding sandwich tern colony. The reserve also attracts little terns, warblers, great crested grebes, red breasted mergansers and wildfowl such as wigeons. The large number of birds also attracts the attention of local birds of prey, including the peregrine falcon. From the sea wall, you may also be lucky enough to spot seals and porpoises playing in Haverigg’s picturesque harbour.
