About Martin and Emma Daykin
I am the booking agent for Casa Padrone, my name is Emma and I live nearby in the Niccone Valley, with my husband, Martin, two daughters and our cat and dog. We run a small rentals agency called Gorgacce Rentals, named after the first house my parents owned here which they bought in the 1980's. In those days before the internet they were very successful at renting their house to holiday-makers and their neighbours asked if they could rent their houses too and from this grew our rentals agency. Seeking a better life Martin and I (with our then one year old daughter, Isabel,) moved here in 1999 and have taken over most of the running of the rental business although my mum still keeps the accounts! Martin runs regular wine tastings at the vineyard in the valley. He is also a keen walker and often takes people on guided walks and he has written a book of local walks available as an e-book called "Circular Walks on the Tuscany Umbria Border".
Why Martin and Emma Daykin chose Lisciano Niccone
Casa Padrone is a quite fantastic property. It has the most magnificent position with unbroken lake views and inside is spacious and furnished and equipped to a luxury standard. The most attractive infinity pool with the fabulous views and a jacuzzi! There are 2 restaurants within walking distance and the small town of Tuoro is only a short drive away. As booking agents who live nearby we want all our guests to enjoy their stay at Casa Padrone. You can book knowing that we are on hand to deal with problems that may arise during your stay, we are always available by phone, text, WhatsApp and by email.
What makes this Villa unique
We invite all our guests to a wine tasting evening at the local vineyard. This is a regular event run by by husband Martin Daykin who passed his Italian Sommeliers Association exams in January 2016.
Canceled bookings will not receive a refund
Ideal for Families
We had an incredible week at Casa Padrone! We were two families of 4 with children 6-10 years old and the space worked out just perfectly! The small room was absolutely fine for two little girls (and frankly the best sleeping room in August ... cool and dark!) The pool and the Jacuzzi were the highlights for everyone (especially the children!) The setting is incredible (the pictures don't sell that vista well enough! It is stunning!) And the pool is enormous and very deep (great for diving without worries about children!) The house is very well stocked - plenty of beach towels and chair covers, etc. The kitchen is likewise well stocked with appliances and utensils, plenty of glassware, etc. All very comfortable. The caretaker was extremely responsive when we had questions (we lost power briefly in a thunderstorm for example and he came right over to turn the water back on ... ) We did a number of short excursions to charming nearby towns (Cortona and Montepulciano being highlights!) followed by afternoon swims and sunset cocktails overlooking the lake. A lunch on Isola Maggiore was also a crowd favorite and a fun short afternoon trip. "Town" is a bit of a drive, so make sure to stock up at the grocery store, otherwise its 25 min. each way to get milk if you run out! But the roads were easy to navigate and the privacy and remoteness of the villa were a delight!! We would highly recommend the property and hope we will come back soon!!
A stunning villa and setting.
Any queries we had before and during our stay were very quickly sorted by Emma including a wine tour, tasting and dinner with Martin (which was excellent, informative and so much fun). Oscar was only a phone call away when the pool cover got stuck! Nothing was too much trouble and we felt that our holiday and having a good time was important to them too.
Trips to Assisi, Cortona and Montipulciano are all very easy to do and the food and views were incredible. A trip to the island and restaurant L’Oso was spectacular. Kayaks were hired by the 4 younger adults and a paddle to the nature reserve island was another highlight.
We all (6 of us) loved staying at the villa and the memories we have now will stay with us forever.
Beyond all expectations
Absolutely gorgeous house with the exceptionally wonderful views. Spacious, stylish and comfortable and the views!!
Wow! Incredible views and a sumptuous house
There is nothing not to like about Casa Padrone. It's impossible not to be overwhelmed by the views, not to rave about the bedrooms and bathrooms. It is spacious, modern, clean and well-looked after, everything worked perfectly. The pool is enormous but even in May it was warm (we had paid for heating). We all felt so privileged to stay here. We had excellent help from Emma and from Oscar before and during our stay.
Perfect View and Great Villa
The impression that you gain of Villa Padrone ( and it's many other names !! ) from the website is exactly what you find on arrival. If anything the views are even better and can be seen from everywhere in the villa and not just the highest point ,as in some villas !!
We enjoyed a wonderful week with friends and definitely would consider returning again.
Although it takes 5 minutes to reach the main road the villa is well placed to visit Assisi and Siena for day trips. A trip on the ferry across the lake to the island and lunch there are not to be missed if you want a relaxing day.
The property is beautifully presented and we had no problems although the number of light switches caused constant amusement, particularly after a a few glasses of wine at the end of the evening.
It didn't prove a problem , but it could be made clearer in the pre booking details that aircon, the heating of the pool and jacuzzi are extras and need to be ordered in advance.
Our favourite nearby restaurant was Morgan's in Passignano. You will also pass the nearest big supermarket on the way there as you leave Tuoro.
Hope you enjoy your time there, as we did.
Hi Graham, thanks for your review of Casa Padrone, it is kind of you to take the time. I have taken action on the point you made about understanding the prior payments for air-con, pool heating etc and it is now mentioned 3 times on my Owners Direct ad: In the written description, in Facilities and in Prices. Owners Direct provide owners with a form with various sections to complete when we compose adverts. Owners Direct then present that information in their chosen format so something we thought we had high-lighted gets buried, I hope that I have now made that information clear which was always my intention. Emma
We had a fabulous time at Casa Padrone, the house is extremely comfortable, well-equipped and the view breathtaking. It is so well positioned. The restaurant suggestions in the information folder were excellent and Oscar the caretaker was really helpful.
Thanks so much for your review of Casa Padrone. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and will pass your comments onto Oscar too. Emma
A rural property, approximately 7km from a small lakeside town. Good access for visiting the Tuscan towns of Siena, Florence, Montepulciano, Cortona and Arezzo and many others and the Umbrian towns of Perugia, Assisi, Todi, Gubbio, Spoleto amongst many more.
