We've been holidaying in Owners Direct gites for the past 15 years and Quelle Vue is one of the best appointed properties we have ever stayed in." said Sally-Anne who stayed with her family in 2016. Modern, yet traditional basque style summer house set in generous grounds which are private, secure and fully enclosed*. The full size, optionally heated pool, generous terrace, lawn, games area and meadow are all yours to enjoy and border onto open countryside with a wonderful view of the mountains. The living area is centred on a large 'sejour' with open fireplace and picture window facing South towards the Pyrenees. A fully equipped kitchen also overlooks the mountains. Of the two main bedrooms, one is double aspect facing South and East over the pool, the second faces South. The occasional 3rd bedroom is best suited for children and includes a single or double bed. The gite is ideal for 4 or 6 people. There is a traditional basque style shower and washroom with 2 hand basins. *Please note that this is a GITE, not a private villa. The house is completely independent and the owners live in separate house, closeby in the same grounds. The pool is maintained by and occasionally, but discretely used by owners.

About Pam Caffyn
Recently retired and having lived in Dorset (South West England) for many years, Mike and I fell in love with this area 3 or 4 years ago. The ever changing views, the weather, the natural surroundings and of course, those mountains. Quelle Vue (what a view) is one of two houses built by a local farmer’s daughter in the 80s and we can only live in one of them - so we decided to share the experience with family, friends and now you. I am here to help if you would like, but also to stay well out of your way if you prefer. Whether you come for the mountains, the local walks and cycles, to paint, write, read or just chill out - I know you will love it.
Pam Caffyn purchased this House in 2013
Why Pam Caffyn chose Souyeaux
Inviting sunrises, soporific sunsets, clarity of the night sky, the wild birds, deer, weather, views, Atlantic coast, the mountain walks, exploring on foot and by bike, quality of the air, restaurants, Tour de France, food, vineyards, festivals of horse, wine, dance and jazz and, last but not least, the warmth and friendliness of the local people and village life. What more can I say?
What makes this House unique
The view is fabulous across the valleys to the mountains and the house has a certain 'wow' factor. The pool setting (facing South with a 180 degrees view of the countryside and mountains) is just such a relaxing place to prepare for or recover from those trips to the mountains. Most of the places that you can see on the horizon, or you just know are nestled away in a hidden valley are less than 50 kms (an hour away by car). Historic castles, mountain passes, waterfalls, spas or adventure forests - just waiting to be explored. Slightly further there are mountain railways, UNESCO Heritage sites and the Atlantic coast with the beaches and charm of Biarritz, St Jean de Luz and San Sebastian just over the border into Spain.

The most wonderful holiday location ever. Mountains, pool, view and the gite itself - Perfect :-)
From the first contact with Quellevue.com, until our reluctant goodbye to Pam and Mike, it was obvious that everything has been done to ensure a wonderfully relaxing holiday. A superbly equipped, wonderfully located and lovingly cared for house is complemented by a meticulously maintained swimming pool. Swimming (or drifting) in that water with panoramic views of the mountains with only the birdsong to disturb our thoughts (or the stars at night) is a memory we will treasure forever. When we could tear ourselves away, we were not disappointed by the many places to visit in the mountains or even the nearby forest walks. We will return.
As our last guests for the 2017 season we are so pleased that you thoroughly enjoyed yourselves. We take great pride in being able to provide our guests with comfortable and well thought out accommodation and Mike is always meticulous with 'his' pool! Thank you for your kind review and, hopefully, we may see you back here again one day. Pam and Mike
Beautiful rural retreat
QuelleVue is everything it seems it is from the website. The location is stunning with the views of the Pyrenees - every day is different as the clouds roll across the peaks and the sun comes up/down.
Pam and Mike are the most gracious hosts and make you feel at home whilst also giving you plenty of privacy. They are available to help (ie suggesting where to go, booking the vets for us and 'adopting' Archie, our golden retriever) as well as keeping the swimming pool immaculate and providing everything in the gite that you need (a real home from home).
Having not visited this area before we had a great time exploring and would definitely recommend visits to Pic du Midi, Pic du Jour, the market in Tarbes and walking in Payolle.
We can't recommend this more as a perfect getaway and look forward to returning in the future.
Thanks again to you both for letting us share your little piece of paradise.
It was our pleasure to welcome you both and Archie to Quelle Vue and we are so pleased that you had such a good time - the weather was not always at its best! We look forward to welcoming you back again, one day. Meanwhile, good luck with all your plans for your 'mega' visit to Australia. Pam and Mike
Very comfortable and spacious. Lovely pool
Pam and Mike could not have been more welcome hosts, nothing was to much trouble, but they did not interfere, the property and its grounds were"your home". The house was superbly equipped and very very spacious.
The pool was lovely and kept at a perfect temperature. The views of the mountains was fantastic. It was lovely to sit and read with the mountains as a backdrop.
A perfect relaxing stay!
Thank you for persisting in getting your review 'accepted' by Owners Direct - we intend to make OD aware there were/are problems. It was a pleasure to welcome you both to Quelle Vue and give you the opportunity to really 'chill out' while you were here after your hectic schedule! Pam and Mike.
Fantastic stay at Pam and Mike's gite!
We loved the gite. It was clean, spacious and charming and the pool was FANTASTIC - it was warm and had a beautiful view of the mountains. Pam and Mike were lovely and helpful hosts. Would stay here again for sure. (In fact, we hope to!)
The pool is always very difficult to resist and you all really did make the most of it - I think the boys would have stayed in it all day if they had been allowed! It was a pleasure to welcome you all the way from Canada and we would be more than happy to see you here again. Pam and Mike
A lovely gite overlooking the pyrenees
From the moment we arrived at Quellevue Vue we knew we had found the ideal place to enjoy and explore all the Pyrenees has to offer
The gite was spotlessly clean, all of the things one would expect to find to make life easy were present, unlike many other home away accommodations we have stayed at, which fell way short of expectation.
Pam and Mike were the perfect hosts, providing a comprehensive digital and hard copy set of information on things to do, places to visit, restaurants, etc, etc. They were always on hand to assist in any way but never intrusive.
The gite has a very spacious living area with exceptional views looking out over the ever changing Pyrenees, with lovely bedrooms on a mezzanine floor.
The pool and patio areas were perfect for outdoor living and relaxation, in the warmer weather and to spend many balmy evenings.
If we ever go back to spend time in this area again we would definitely stay here again. We have stayed in quite a few "Home Away" properties over the years and this property, along with one other are by far and away the best we have experienced.
if we were asked to nominate people to draft a manual of how to set up and run a holiday property we would nominate Pam and Mike to write it.
Thanks Pam an Mike for providing us with such and enjoyable and memorable holiday experience.
Faye and Tony
Our intention is always to provide the gite to the highest standard that we would like it to be if we were staying in it. The pool is Mike's 'baby' and he takes a lot of time and trouble to make it welcoming for our hot, tired guests and their families. The Welcome Guide is available at all times as there is always such a lot to do in and around the area whether exploring, cycling the Cols or just chilling and if we are able to make recommendations or simply 'guide' our guests it can make life so much easier and enjoyable for them.
We are so pleased that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay at Quelle Vue and it was a pleasure meeting you and the family having travelled all the way from Australia! Pam and Mike
A little gem!
Highly recommended. Truly stunning. Exceptional views from property, which has everything that you need. The most beautiful swimming pool. Our hosts, Pam and Mike, were very warm and friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay a wonderful experience.
It is always so good to hear that our guests have really enjoyed their stay at Quelle Vue. Thank you for highly recommending Quelle Vue and we hope that other future guests will enjoy a wonderful experience here too. Pam and Mike.
