Me and 5 girlfriends stayed at this lovely wee villa for a week in September and we had a fantastic time. It was exactly as described. Very clean, great space and just what we were looking for. A lovely 10 minute walk to the beach and shops. The owner David answered all our queries and called to see us on the second day. He replied to all my calls regarding location, local restaurants and local transport questions. Porto Pollenca is a beautiful place and we are definitely booking for next year at the same place. Thanks David, we loved it!!
Big villa. Some good features but on the whole just too tired and not looked after. Would not go back unless it had a complete overhaul. If they did it could be great and the manager is a nice fella.
Local markets and shopping The main square at Puerto Pollensa (Puerto Pollenca) hosts a popular market every Wednesday, by the church. There are around 200 stalls selling everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to clothes, jewellery and souvenirs. The resort also has a number of gift and beachwear shops along the seafront. Plus, there are supermarkets and mini markets in the local area for picking up daily essentials. Bars and restaurants Puerto Pollensa has a wealth of fashionable bistros lining the seafront. The promenade extends up to the marina and onto the Pine Walk which also has a number of cafes and eating places overlooking the water. Beaches Puerto Pollensa has a fantastic long, sandy beach with picturesque views of the hillside. For keen beach goers, or anyone looking for something a bit more laid back, the town of Cala San Vicente, 20 minutes' drive north, has 2 small sandy coves. Or, venture around the headland to the hidden beach of Playa de Formentor. The journey around the hillside offers some spectacular scenery over the open sea and the beach is great too! Family fun Hidropark Alcudia is around 20 minutes' away by car. The park has a number of water based rides and activities for all ages. Alcudia also has go-karting facilities, or you can find a mini golf course in Cala San Vicente. Places of interest Pollensa Old Town is around 10 minutes' drive away and has a huge choice of traditional Spanish restaurants and quaint shops. You can also scale the 365 steps from the square up to the Calvary Church and admire the scenery. The old town, beach and port of Alcudia are also well worth seeing. Further afield is Europe's largest underground lake at the Caves of Drach, or enjoy a daytrip to Palma! Golf Golf Pollensa is 6 miles inland, close to Pollensa (Pollenca) Old Town. There is also another golf course, Golf Alcanada, on the far side of Alcudia, around 25 minutes' drive away. Other activities Both Puerto Pollensa and Alcudia beaches have water sport facilities on offer. Exploring and bird watching in the nearby S'Albufera Nature Reserve or hiking in the Tramuntana Mountains are also popular with both locals and visitors alike, and a great way to see more of this beautiful island.
