Villa Azzurra is a newly renovated property. Sleeps 8 persons. It is 250 sq. meters in size and has a very airy spacious feel. The independent villa is set in a lovely walled garden on an acre of land. It is approached through electric gates with audio screening inside the villa. It is situated about 3kms from the delightful medieval town of Oria and very close to the Sanctuary of San Cosimo, both can be seen clearly from the villa. Al fresco living is really the Pugliese way of life especially in the summer months. The villa has a large covered verandah to the front with plenty of seating and dining facilities. There is a further terrace a couple of steps down from the pool terrace adjacent to one of the olive groves. On this terrace there is a very large wooden gazebo 7mtrs x 5mtrs. This provides shelter for numerous very comfortable lounging areas, another dining area and an outdoor kitchen. There is a wood burning pizza oven and an open barbecue along with a marble surfaced preparation area and sink. All this area is well lit for cooking and eating under the stars. The very large saline pool is 13x5 meters and entered from the Roman steps, which are also great for sitting/lying on. The depth is 1mtr 40cms throughout, perfect for a decent swim and teaching your children to swim. There are 8 luxury white resin rattan sun beds and 4 grey with extra -soft cushions; these are dotted around the paved patio surrounding the pool. There are also 7 turquoise sun beds, which can be taken to the beach or used as extras for guests. The pool and surrounding area can be lit for evening swimming. Close to the pool there is an outdoor shower, which can also be used when returning from the beach as well as a full 4th bathroom in the outhouse. At night the pool area provides a fabulous spot to enjoy a Prosecco or local Primitivo - pre or post dinner -whilst watching the spectacular sunsets!

About Gaynor Geraghty
Gaynor and I live in a country area outside the market town of Selby, N. Yorks. We have one child who is a musician. We have been holidaying in Puglia over the past 13 years and really love the area. We enjoy the ancient inland towns and cities and beautiful seaside towns and villages. We particularly like Oria as a centre to visit for restaurants, markets and history. The people are helpful and friendly. We bought our villa as a shell and have lovingly had it developed into a beautiful 4 bed property with a pool. We have made friends with local people and would hope that anybody staying in the villa would enjoy their stay and holiday as much as we always do. Gaynor and Ray Geraghty
Gaynor Geraghty purchased this Villa in 2013
Why Gaynor Geraghty chose Province of Brindisi
The property is in a charming location in the countryside 3 kilometres S.W. of Oria. We recognised the potential of the property as a holiday home close to the city and with good access to motorway routes to other centres and seaside areas. The airport at Brindisi is less than half an hour away whilst the airport at Bari is one hour and a half's drive to the property. The food and wine are excellent and are cheaper than many other areas in Italy. We love this area because of the wonderful Medieval and historic towns, fabulous beaches and nowhere is too far away to visit. The Villa has been transformed from a basic shell to what we now feel is a beautiful property that has exceeded our wildest dreams. Staying at Villa Azzurra will provide an experience that will give you a true taste of the "Dolce Vita".
What makes this Villa unique
The villa is in its own grounds of one acre containing 100 olive trees and other trees and plants. It is in a quiet and peaceful location so that everyone staying there can relax and chill out by the pool enjoying the lovely climate. The outdoor kitchen and dining areas provide further options to enhance your holiday and this includes a full sized pizza oven and built in barbecue next to a huge wooden gazebo. The drive into Oria takes about five minutes. The villa is equipped to a high standard with all new facilities to enjoy. It also has a very large lounge dinner plus a second large lounge downstairs allowing guests to have their own space when required. This makes it and ideal property for a number of families and or guests of varying ages. There are many things to do on our doorstep, including visiting ancient towns and cities both inland and at the seaside. There is safe off road parking for up to 4 cars inside the grounds of the villa. The local Primitivo red wine is manufactured just 7 kilometres from our villa and local white wines are grown and readily available at very cheap prices! The property provides a very tranquil and restful experience for its guests. We have enjoyed many fabulous sunsets from the terraces and verandah at night.

Didn't want to leave.....
This is a fantastic villa and perfectly located for visiting the region of Puglia, somewhere new to us, and my Italian in-laws. We have stayed in many villas, and this is without doubt the best, so well equipped and blissfully peaceful! The lovely Mike met us on arrival, and he was a great help assuring us that he was at the end of the phone should we need him - we didn't, as there were no problems at all. We had a real mix of days at the beach (only 30 mins away), along with visiting the many towns/villages in the surrounding area (Ostuni, Otranto, Gallipoli, Alberbello, Martina Franca). We also enjoyed the pizza oven (a great success!) and the pool was very welcome on the many hot days we had. We had a mix of ages in our group (14- 77) and we all enjoyed it equally. Highly recommended, we look forward to coming back!
What a fantastic review, thank you so much. We are delighted that you have enjoyed your stay so much and appreciated all the efforts our team put in to make our guests holiday memorable and as perfect as it can be.
We were very pleased to note you enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of the villa and had fun using the pizza oven. It is often a favourite with our guests.
Puglia really is a hidden gem! As you say villages, towns and coast are easily accessible and make for a very interesting and varied holiday.
We look forward to welcoming you back.
We visited villa Azzurra with our family of two daughters their spouses and two grandchildren. The intention was to have a good base to tour Puglia from and return to comfort. Villa Azzurra did not disappoint, what an amazing villa! There was plenty of room for all of us with good sized bedrooms and at no point did we feel on top of one another. The fittings are furniture are of good quality and there was probably every electrical convenience item you would ever need. Pot, pans and cutlery a plenty. The outside space was fabulous with a large pool and more than enough space and seating areas. Later in the evening we would sit on the front terrace and watch the sunsets and the amazing red sky's as we enjoyed a glass of wine, or two. We barbecued on a couple of occasions but the pizza oven was a big hit, perfect pizzas and a must do.
The nearby Oria is a lovely hill top town with some great coffee bars and restaurants with very friendly Italians more than willing to put up with our lack of Italian and it was like going back to the seventies, hardly anyone spoke English and it was as cheap as chips. Puglia must be one of the cheapest places in Europe. In the local supermarket Eurospin a decent bottle of wine was about two Euros, a bottle of London gin 4.89 euro, vodka 5.39 euro and prosecco 2.80 euro I kid you not!
Also I must finish this review with a mention to Mike and Annette who welcomed us to the villa, visited us mid week and nothing was too much trouble, also the communication from the owners, Gaynor and Ray with the pre holiday information and welcome pack really helped get the most out of our holiday, thanks.
Thank you so much for your glowing review. We were so pleased to hear that you loved everything about the villa and that you found our representative so helpful. The pizza oven is always a hit as is the large pool!
We agree that Puglia is a lovely traditional region of Italy and very good value for money.
We hope you will return in the future.
Everything you could possibly want!
We had a great 2-week break at Villa Azzurra. We are a family of five adults and we were accompanied by a couple with two small children. The layout of the villa was ideal as the downstairs bedroom and living area provided privacy (and sound proofing!) for the young family. There’s plenty of room both inside and out. We were surprised at just how spacious it was. We would echo the previous comments about how well equipped the kitchen is. If you enjoy cooking you’ll find pretty much everything you’ll need. The wood-fired barbeque and pizza oven were well used, with an enormous supply of dried olive wood on hand. Although there are a great number of lighting options outside, we particularly enjoyed switching out all of the lights and lying back on the pool loungers to view the stars in almost complete darkness! There are beautiful beaches on both the Adriatic and Ionian coasts within easy reach. For the fit (and the brave) we would recommend a visit to Grotta della Poesia, which is on the other side of Lecce. There you can dive from a rock arch (not too high) into a pool of crystal clear water, and swim back under the arch into the open sea. Overall, a holiday not to be forgotten!
Thank you so much for your glowing review. The outside facilities are often enjoyed by guests and you were no exception!
The space is another feature which guests appreciate along with the well equipped kitchen.
The villa's position allows easy access to both coastlines for beach and sea activities which is a good thing to point out.
Thank you for the tip about the diving area;we will pass this information on to future guests.
Thanks again. Please do come back and visit the villa in the future.

This fabulous villa far surpassed our expectations.
We were a family of 6 adults and 3 children travelling to visit family and relax.
The owners were attentive and helpful with advice and recommendations even before the holiday.
On arrival, we were met by Mike, the owners representative who was also helpful and friendly. The welcome pack was very welcome.
The villa was clean, well kept and very well equipped. There was nothing missed. The pool area was superb and the pizza oven was an added bonus. the children loved making their own pizza.
The villa is very secure and secluded, perfect with 3 noisy boys, No neighbours to disturb.
Outside and in, there is plenty of room for 9 people and we were never on top of each other.
We visited the local towns and restaurants and were within easy reach of the beach.
Thank you for a lovely relaxing holiday. Hope to see you again soon
We are so pleased you thought the Villa Azzurra was fantastic. We have also passed on your very positive comments to our team regarding the cleanliness and excellent service our representative at the Villa provides. Everyone appears to be wowed by the pool area and of course the pizza oven.
We are also pleased you found the villa convenient for the lovely towns and of course fabulous beaches.
We look forward to welcoming you back very soon.
Villa Azzurra - Truly Fantastic
Just returned from a truly fantastic week at Villa Azzurra with my family. It was an exceptional experience and we all loved our stay there. The planning stages were smooth, professional and very friendly, with great help from Gaynor and Ray. Although we arrived at the villa later than expected, Mike was there to meet us and he was so friendly and extremely helpful and he was always available throughout the week if needed. The villa itself is just amazing, huge, very clean and very well equipped and furnished. We were a group of 8, which was 3 couples and 2 close friends and the bedroom layout was just perfect. It was a glorious week with the weather which meant that the outdoor area was used all of the time, especially the pizza oven and the BBQ, both of which were used several times. The pool is lovely and the outdoor furniture very comfortable. The location of the villa is great too, less than 30 minutes drive to some lovely beaches and many really good restaurants too just 10 minutes away in Oria. There is also a great Pizzeria a 15 minute walk away which also has entertainment on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Italian Line Dancing is something to see and do! It was a wonderful and relaxing week.
Thanks for such a glowing and comprehensive review of your stay at our Puglian villa!
It gives us great satisfaction to know that all the hard work put in by our team and us is appreciated by all the guests who come to stay.
We will try to keep up the high standards of cleanliness at the villa and active support for the guests both before and during their stay!
Do feel free to return to Villa Azzurra in the near future and join our growing band of fans who reward us time after time with 5 star reviews.
We are considering line dancing lessons as part of our package but that is in the future ! Watch this space!
Villa Azzurra Rating 5 star *****
Dates of Stay 13/5/17 to 20/5/17
We arrived in Brindisi on the Saturday afternoon and after getting detailed phone instructions on how to get to the villa from Mike who was waiting for us on arrival it was pretty much straight forward .
The drive only takes about 40 minutes if you know the way, but add a little longer for getting a bit lost the first time around.
The Villa is in a beautiful position just outside Oria facing out on to the open countryside and on entering through the main gate and seeing the drive with each side having rows of Olive trees you know straight away you have come somewhere special.
The first outside impressions of the villa is what a wonderful place and on entering inside and being shown round by Mike we were impressed by the quality furnishings and layout
Firstly the Villa is well equipped with everything you need for a family holiday even down to having bikes to ride round the beautiful countryside with, or using the inflatables in the pool with the kids.
We even had a go with the outside Pizza oven where the wood is provided ,which was a great way to spending an evening dining al-fresco on the terrace.
The position on the villa is ideal for exploring Puglia in the car as most places are in easy reach including the 3 nice beaches along the coast which take 30 to 40 mins.
There are numerous nice restaurants in easy reach of the villa all having their bit of Italian charm and wonderful food.
Overall if you are looking for a great family holiday Italian style and mixing with the locals you will not be disappointed staying at Villa Azzurra.
I would thoroughly recommend renting this villa for family's and adults alike.
The only negative I have to say about the villa was 1 week was not enough, hopefully we will return next year.
Thank you for your lovely review Des and party. We were delighted to see how much you enjoyed your stay at Villa Azzurra and the local area. We agree the position of the villa is lovely and also within easy reach of beautiful Oria, other medieval towns and cities as well as the numerous and beautiful sandy beaches.
Everyone who has stayed at the villa has thoroughly enjoyed the pizza oven and had great fun trying to make pizzas and socialising and relaxing under the gazebo.
We are so pleased you enjoyed using the bikes to explore the lovely countryside and that you all enjoyed our lovely pool.
We will be more than happy to welcome you back next year.
Thank you. Gaynor and Ray
Coast/Beach: Conveniently located between the Adriatic coast 25 mins drive and Ionian 30. Both have fabulous white sandy beaches some with full facilities. The beaches are safe for children. Torre Guaceto on the Adriatic coast is a blue flag nature reserve. The Ionian beaches at Punto Proscutto and San Pietra in Bevana are very special and two of our favourites. We often go to the seaside town of Porto Cesareo with its fantastic water front gelateria and our favourite restaurant "Al Gambero" excellent seafood Travel: The property is 30 minutes 43kms from Brindisi airport and about 95 minutes 140kms from Bari airport. There are daily flights provided by Ryanair, Easyjet, BA and Alitalia. There is also a port at Brindisi that offers ferries over to Greece. Although there are train stations nearby, which will give you some great day trips, car hire is really essential in order to explore this rich, un-spoilt and varied region of Italy. Distances: MOTORWAY -10KMS, 15 mins ORIA -3.5KMS, 5mins FRANCAVILLA FONTANA –12KMS, 15mins MANDURIA -8KMS, 10mins SAN PIETRA IN BEVANA -21KMS, 25mins IONIAN COAST PUNTO PROSCIUTTO -26KMS, 30mins ,, PORTO CESAREO - 47KMS, 45mins ,, GALLIPOLI - 64KMS, 64mins ,, MARINA DI LEUCA - 107KMS, 85mins ,, TORRE GUACETO - 50KMS, 40mins ADRIATIC COAST PILONE - 44KMS, 45mins ,, LECCE - 48KMS, 49 mins OSTUNI - 36KMS, 45mins ALBEROBELLO - 88KMS, 80mins MARTINA FRANCA - 45KMS, 55mins Further Details: Puglia is best known for its fresh Mediterranean produce, amazing olive oil, fruit, vegetables and pasta as well as incredible meat inland and stunning seafood on the coast. The wine is gorgeous, from the excellent Primitivo di Manduria (red) to the superbly quaffable Prosecco (fizzy) and one of our favourites, Leverano (Vecchia Torre white). Villa Azzurra is 3 klms (5 minutes in the car) from the delightful historic town of Oria with its cobbled streets, wonderful restaurants and bars and vibrant market. This stunning medieval town has history around every corner. Puglia is famous for its unique tiny conical trulli buildings and the magnificent Masserias – fortified farmhouses. However, it is largely undiscovered by the rest of the world. If you want to experience true Italy at its best (and eat some of the most delicious food of your life) then you are in the right place! We provide a detailed information pack to our guests, full of recommendations of our favourite local restaurants, local market days, the best local beaches and lots of activities for children like the fabulous safari theme park in Fasanoland (great for adults and children alike). The property is the perfect place to relax and do nothing but if you are interested in seeing Puglia we leave top tips in our file. You will need two days to explore Oria alone with its Frederic 2nd (13th century) castle and palace, extraordinary Jewish quarter dating back to 500AD and exquisite churches. Oria is less 'discovered' than many other parts and as such remains more 'Italian' and much cheaper than many other areas. The restaurants are really fantastic and very reasonable.Beyond Oria are towns and cities galore to explore. In the summer months there is nightly entertainment in both the Medieval town of Oria and the Baroque town of Francavilla Fontana. Entertainment takes the various forms of music and dance, as well as Medieval games in Oria in August with plenty of fireworks!
