Why susan brown chose Houesville
We came to this part of France for a family celebration earlier in 2006, and fell in love with the area. Access from the UK is easy, with a good ferry service from Portsmouth, and the travel times from Cherbourg or Caen are not long.
What makes this Cottage unique
We have a tranquil setting, although far from remote. Shops, beaches, restaurants, and points of interest are easily accessed by car.

Lovely place for big family gatherings.
I rented this charming property (both farmhouse and gite) for 12 days in July to celebrate my 50'th birthday with family from near and far. We had a fantastic time. The big dining room easily seated 22 people. The kids ranging from 4-17 could run off to the pool and nearby games room when they found dinners boring.
The house is very big and bed rooms and bath rooms are well separated so it is no problem to put small kids to bed early and leave teenagers or jet-laggers sleeping until in the afternoon without disturbing each other.
The house and features shown in the pictures and descriptions matched or exceeded our expectations (we parked 5 vehicles inside the gates of the property with no problem). The owners and the staff handling the house are all very nice people who made every effort to make our holiday perfect (Thank you all). On piece of advice I would give to future residents is to immediatly contact the owners or staff if you find problems with equipment as they really want to sort this out to make things perfect, I think Sue was a bit annoyed with me for not making a fuzz about one or two things that was not working as expected.
All in all this is a beautiful house well suited for a bigger group of people of mixed ages and demands. The area is also excellent for a holiday with groups of mixed interests. Some of us played golf on the surrounding courses, we all went to the landing beaches both to swim and sightsee. Of course we also enjoyed the friendly locals and their fantastic food and drinks.
Fantastic little gite
This was our second visit to the gite, after being so impressed with it last year. A home from home with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Great location for the D-Day beaches and exploring a little further afield in Normandy. Highly recommended
This is one of the best properties we've stayed in, the furnishings and equipment are first class, and the pool and games room are must if you have youngsters in your party.
I don't think the owners could have added anything to make the holiday more enjoyable!!
This farmhouse is one of the nicest places we've stayed in France, the attention to detail is second to none and the facilities are first class. I fully recommend this to families, the games room and pool are a godsend!!
Coast/Beach: 20 minute drive to Utah beach. 1 hour drive to Omaha beach. Other excellent beaches can be visited to the west of the property. Travel: 45 minutes from Cherbourg Port. 1 hour from Ouistreham (Caen). Use of car essential. Distances: St Come-du-Mont 1 kilometre. Carentan 5 kilometres. Further Details: Village shop (Depot du Pain) 1 km. Supermarket Carentan - 5 km. Carentan is a major town with all facilities including Monday market. Excellent Restaurants between 5 km and 20 km.
