Professionally renovated to exceptional standards, Peak Cottage in the picturesque village of Winster combines antiquity with 21st century living. Set on four different levels, originally 2 miners cottages, they've been joined together to provide ideal accommodation for two couples or a family group. There are spacious communal areas to enjoy but also quiet places to retreat to. A combi boiler provides central heating and hot water on demand. In the main living areas there are, not one, but two wood burning stoves, each with a complimentary basket of logs. Two flat screen TV’s and wi-fi to keep you connected. Outside, from the seating area, there are beautiful views of Winster village and the rolling hills of the Peak District offering an array of walks starting, right there, on your doorstep. A few minutes drive finds Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Bakewell, Matlock, Matlock Bath and Carsington Water.

Notes on accommodation: Outside: To the front of the cottage is a walled garden with seating area and views over Winster and the rolling hills of the Peak District. Roadside parking is available nearby. Utility Room: The outside utility room houses a washing machine and an additional fridge with ice box. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The cottage is professionally cleaned. Bedding, towels and T-cloths are provided along with a selection of toiletries for the start of your stay. Other: Dining/Morning Room: Solid oak flooring, dining table and four chairs, 2 comfortable wing chairs, large footstool. Flat screen TV. Original stone fireplace with log burning stove. House Rules: No smoking inside the cottage. No pets. No barbecues. Please leave the cottage clean and tidy on departure, putting rubbish in the bin or recycling box.

Lovely house - but cold!

We thought the house was lovely and enjoyed our stay. However, we did think it was a bit tight not to provide more fuel for the stove, with it being so cold. There was only enough for one evening (at a push). Add to that the fact that the heating control had been taped over, so we couldn't boost the radiators either. It would be worth bearing in mind, as it was annoying having to go to the village shop to keep buying more logs. One other note - when people book, it might be worth mentioning that if they would like to eat in the pub, it needs to be booked ahead - and a phone number provided. They were fully booked on Saturday night. Hope this helps. Becky Bond

Snowy wonderland

We had a delightful stay in the cottage over New Year. It was warm, cosy and ideal for 4 adults. Waking up on our first morning to snow all around was magical and made for an exciting slide down the hill to the Old Bowling Green pub where we had an excellent meal. We will definitely be back to sample a different season.

Amazingly quirky and welcoming.

Just returned from a 3 night stay in peak cottage and had an amazing time. The kids loved the split levels and the cottage had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable and the cottage was immaculate. I would definately recommend this property.

Further Details:

Winster general store opens late and stocks most provisions. Matlock has the nearest Sainsburys supermarket. The Bowling Green pub is 50 metres away; very friendly and offers excellent food and delicious ales. The Miners Standard on the top of Winster is perfect for a pint overlooking the surrounding countryside. They also provide food. In all the surrounding villages you'll find pubs and restaurants to explore.
