About the property

Villa in Cala'n Porter, Menorca, Balearic Islands - Peaceful Location, 10 Minutes Stroll To The Village

This 3 bedroom villa was built in the traditional Menorca style with high ceilings and white walls surround the villa, giving privacy and security. Your own pool to use whenever the mood takes you, a barbecue to while away the summer afternoons. The bars and restaurants, shops and cafes are a 10 minute walk away and provide evening entertainment. The villa is furnished comfortably inside and out so the whole family can enjoy a relaxing holiday. This is next door to our other villa, ref 8160253. Having the 2 villas is ideal for larger groups of families or friends especially for that special occasion. It has the convenience of being near but also with the privacy of being able to close your own door when it gets a bit too much - yes, that's what we do.

This Villa has a Friday changeover.

About Alan Davies

We came to Menorca in 1999 and fell in love with the island, and purchased Villa Santi in 2001. She was the second villa built by Santi Grau (after villa Paula, our first villa) and is named after him We visited for 3 months of the year in the first few years, spending May, September and October here, then as the grandchildren got older we have been out during July and August. We have also stayed in February, March and April and experienced the island in all weathers.

Alan Davies purchased this villa in 2001

Why Alan Davies chose Alaior

A lovely villa in quiet location only 10 minutes away from the village centre. It's only 10 minutes from the airport, and everyone in the village is kind and friendly. The local supermarkets deliver free of charge so there are very few down sides to where we are and many advantages. The main reason for buying here was that we are not overlooked. Although we are surrounded by other villas, the walls and planting make it a very secluded, without being too remote. In our opinion, a perfect compromise.

What makes this villa unique

Having two villas next door to each other allows for family/friends groups, which is great fun. The location of the villa means that we have all the benefits of a lively resort on our doorstep without the hustle and bustle of the village. The stroll back to the villa after a meal in the evening goes some way to compensating for the excesses of the evening. As we are on the edge of the village, the view of the stars at night is amazing. Turn the lights off, lay on a sun bed and look up. You are in a different world - literally. We love walking and have done a lot of the coast following the cami de cavells from the village you can go to Calas Coves and on to Es Cantells one way and to Son Bou in the other direction.

Map

Coast/Beach:

The Cala en Porter beach is about 20 minute walk from the villa, or a 5 minute drive. The beach is one of the best on the island and has lifeguard cover, gently sloping sand and is sheltered from all but a southerly wind. There are bars and restaurants as well as ice cream vendors and beach shops. There is also free WiFi.

Travel:

The villa is about a 10 minute drive from the airport. Taxi cost currently is approximately 20 Euros. Although we are near the airport we are nowhere near the flight path so we rarely hear the planes.

Distances:

Mahon is 15 minute drive away and Ciutadella, the opposite end of the island, is about 45 minutes drive. Busses are available for a reasonable cost and go from the village.

Further Details:

The village has many shops, 3 supermarkets, banks, cash machines, car hire, restaurants, bars and children's play areas. Some of the local bars supply entertainment and some have karaoke evenings (sorry!). Everyone speaks good English but they will help if you want to practise your Spanish.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: We have tried to cater for most situations, but if you have a special request we will do our best to help. Cots, extra beds etc can be supplied by our local agents, who will introduce themselves to you and answer any questions you may have, either about the villa or the local area. They are there to look after you but will leave you in peace to enjoy the holiday. Outside: Outside we have a 7 metre kidney shaped pool surrounded by an established garden and plenty of terraced area, with 6 sunbeds and a shaded outside dining area fully equipped for 6. There are other seating areas, in both full sun or shade. For the energetic, there is a built in BBQ and cooking utensils in the kitchen. We usually have several inflatables, dolphins, crocodiles or whatever the season's fancy is. The property is fully fenced and gated so the whole area is private and safe. There are views over the village to the sea, and wonderful sunsets. The Villa and Pool are lit for quiet (or rowdy) evenings and midnight swims. There is a washing line at the back. Utility Room: There is a washing machine and sink outside - typically Spanish. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bedding and towels, including beach towels, are supplied, so that should save on your baggage allowance. The washing machine can be used at any time.

Great time had by all

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from ten nights at this villa and had a great time. The villa itself is really well equipped with pretty much everything you would need and the kitchen / dining / living area is a lot more spacious than it first appears in the photos. Bedrooms all a good size with plenty of wardrobe space etc. and air con in all three. The pool isn't massive but then my kids are 6 and 3 so it didn't need to be and the garden is really private and not overlooked at all. Plenty of dining out options in Cala en Porter itself which is 5 - 10 minutes walk away and which is well serviced with three supermarkets. There is a great playground right in the centre which our kids loved. Also, it is only 10 - 15 minutes from the airport but with no plane noise so really convenient.

Lovely villa

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at this villa. The villa was clean and tidy. Barry and Lynn friendly and helpful. The beach and surrounding area very nice. Mahon is beautiful. We hired a car to look round the island. We found swimming pool at the villa slightly small, but we did go swimming in the sea.

Fantastic villa - loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Villa was absolutely lovely, when we arrived it was immaculate thanks to Barry and Lynn, who were also brilliant for advice and keeping the pool beautiful. The change of bedding and towels (including beach towels) half way through was a lovely touch. Alan and Linda were fantastic to book with and very helpful through the whole process. Had a family of 4 kids aged 8 to 18 who loved it. The TV and wifi were a definite bonus when they wanted to come in and chill out for a while! Would highly recommend this villa and would love to go back!

Absolutely excellent villa

  • 5 of 5

This is an absolutely lovely villa, and we have just spent a wonderful 2 weeks there. It is every bit as good as the descriptions, and more so. The villa is very peaceful and private, and yet close enough to the village centre to walk to restaurants etc. It even has a good safe for valuables - a must in this day and age. It is lovely and clean and well maintained by Barry and Lynn, who provided wonderful support to us throughout our stay. I would not hesitate to recommend it - it's one of the best villas we have stayed in.

Fantastic holiday and villa

  • 5 of 5

This was are first time in minorca and also first time in an villa.

The villa was excellent very clean and well equipped with everything you may need also very quite and private.

It was great having beach towels as well as hand and bath towels. The two bathrooms with showers were great to have, as we were sharing with a couple of friends so we both had our own bathrooms.

The pool was very inviting, clean and well maintained with enough sun beds for all of us. It was great having breakfast or a drink or two outside.

The town was just a 10 - 15 minute walk it has plenty of very good restaurants, bars and shops. The food was excellent in all of them loved El Pulpo. The local supermarkets all deliver free, which is great.

The beach is a little further, which also has some very nice restaurant I had some lovely sardines at one of them

I would differently recommend this villa to any body.

Wow! Great relaxing week.

  • 5 of 5

I wanted a relaxing week and we certainly got that! The villa had the wow factor when we arrived and was really clean. We were jumping in the pool within minutes of arriving! The villa is everything it says it is, and the privacy from the road is very welcome - not all villas in Cala en Porter have this. Its not far to walk down to the shops and restaurants - we love El Pulpo the best. It's just a bit further to walk to the beach and we managed without a car (the local shops delivered). Sitting watching the sunset over the sea in the evenings was magical.

We have stayed in the neighbouring Villa Paula too (also owned by the same people) and would highly recommend either. We loved it and hope to return soon.
