We invite you to stay in our Modern Perigourdine style house in the pretty and popular village of Paunat in the heart of the Dordogne. This has been our private holiday home for 8 years and we are letting it for the first time in 2015 to let others enjoy some of the fabulous experiences we have had. It is a three bedroom property to sleep up to 6 people and benefits from a private pool. The house has been fully equipped as our own home with all appliances, English satellite TV and Wi-Fi. It is walking distance to the village centre with it's historic Abbey, dating back to the 13th century, and Chez Julien, one of the best and most popular restaurants in the area.

Paunat has awards as one of the prettiest villages in France. it is a mecca for walkers, cyclists, birdwatchers and other lovers of the outdoors. However, the wider area of the Perigord and the Dordogne offers a wide range of other attractions, places of interest and activities for the most adventurous of holiday makers.

The house sleeps 6 but for couples only, who use only one bedroom, we will offer a reduction of £100 per week outside of the July/August peak period.

Notes on accommodation: A modern property built in 2007 in the Perigourdine style. Outside: There are gardens to the front and rear. There is a large patio to the rear with a table to seat at least 6 people. The patio has a wind out sun canopy and there are ample loungers and parasols. The private pool is 9 metres by 4 metres and there is a further terrace for sunbathing. There is an attached and secure garage with access from the house if you wish to bring bikes or other equipment. Utility Room: Fridge-Freezer, Washing Machine and Tumble Dryer Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bedding and towels (including beach towels) provided. Clean bedding and towels provided weekly for longer bookings. Other: Upstairs there is a mezzanine floor with further seating, satellite TV, DVD player and a selection of books and DVDs

High standard accommodation & great pool

High standard of accommodation with an excellent pool the whole family enjoyed. Peaceful, yet within ten minutes drive of Le Bugue which has a good supermarket, eating places and a great night market which we all enjoyed. Ideally placed within Dordogne with Bergerac and the excellent town of Sarlet an easy drive away. We throughly enjoyed the canoeing situated within the fabulous village of Le Limeuil only ten minute drive away and would recommend Aquafun located at the merge of the Vezere and Dordogne rivers. We very much appreciated the opportunity to rent this property, a big thanks to Peter and Ginette, you have a fabulous house and we had an amazing time with great memories.

We have been holidaying in the Dordogne for as long as we can remember and have owned this house for our own use since new in 2007.

We have now retired to the Dordogne and bought a new house, so we are letting our much-loved holiday home for others to enjoy from the 2015 season.

Why Peter and Ginette Smith chose Paunat

We fell in love with the Dordogne when we came on camping holidays from 2000 onwards. We spent most days gazing into estate agents windows and cured ourselves of this by buying a property.

You can enjoy any holiday you want in the Dordogne. There are a wide range of things to do, or you can do nothing!

The food and the wine are second to none and you will have to search hard and long for a bad restaurant, we are still looking!

What makes this house unique

Paunat is a very popular village and we are extremely lucky to have a house here. The village is very quiet most of the time yet its night markets or 'marche nocturne' are probably the most popular in the area.

We are in a quiet location yet handily placed for many of the best locations in the Perigord and the Dordogne.

We are 40 kilometres from Bergerac airport with Ryanair and Jet2 flights from many UK airports. There are also TransAvia flights from Rotterdam. We are approximately 800 kilometres from Calais via Rouen or slightly nearer via Paris, although this can be mostly motorway driving. We are in a fairly rural area and a car is recommended and most would say essential.


We are 35 kilometres from both Bergerac and Perigueux and approximately 100 kilometres from Bordeaux which can be accessed by motorway or by train from several local stations. We are also 35 kilometres from the popular market town and tourist destination of Sarlat. You will drive close to many other places of interest en route to Sarlat, including Beynac, Domme, Chateau des Milandes etc.

Further Details:

Paunat has a brilliant restaurant, Juliens, within walking distance. We can book this for you as it is extremely busy, especially in the summer season. Juliens also sells bread each morning and a limited amount of other supplies. The nearest boulangeries and local stores are in Tremolat, approximately 4 kilometres away. The nearest supermarkets are in Le Bugue, 6 or 7 kilometres away, and you will also find banks, fuel, doctors and everything else you need here. Le Bugue has a very popular market on Tuesday and Saturday.

There are numerous local markets and the area has many and varied attractions. These include prehistoric sites, caves, water parks, air parks, canoeing, walking and numerous chateaux and other places of interest. We will endeavour to leave some details for you.

Booking Notes:
We will need a one third deposit on booking with the balance at least 6 weeks before arrival. Payment can be by cheque or bank transfer. We will also take a deposit on arrival of £200 or 250 Euro to cover any breakages. This will be returned on departure and after inspection.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Sunday. This maybe flexible out of high season. Guests should leave by 10.00am on the day of departure and should arrive no earlier than 4.00pm.

Notes on prices:
Prices are in sterling but we will accept payment in euros at the current exchange rate.
