Gorgeous Lake house (main house, 3 bedroom/2 bath) with a private dock
This house was our dream house... we gutted the whole thing and did extensive renovations to bring it up to date with the intention of making this our "forever" home. When we bought the house, it had avocado colored original kitchen from the 50's and walls separating small kitchen/dining/living rooms into 4 areas. We took the walls down to open it up into one huge kitchen/dining/living area so you can enjoy the lake view from anywhere. We got to live there for a few years but we had to move out of state. We still love to stay at the house whenever we get to visit friends and family in Federal Way WA (but flying with kids are never easy and we don't get to go that often). I hope you get to enjoy our lake house.
Erika purchased this House in 2011
Why Erika chose Federal Way
I love waking up to a beautiful shining view of the lake right outside of the living room windows. My husband's dream was to go fishing anytime he wanted, and his dream came true with this house. The lake is in the backyard, and although it's a small lake it is perfect to go for a swim in the summer or just sit there and fish during the fishing season. They release 5000 rainbow trouts every spring in the beginning of the fishing season so you can catch a lot of them if you are there during that time. My kids enjoy having their own swing sets with a slide in the backyard with grassy area to play in. The house was completely renovated top to bottom and we added high ceilings with skylights, large view windows, and large kitchen island that could hold a huge family and friends.
What makes this House unique
There is a lake in the backyard, with a private dock. Although the lake is small (Steel lake), it is beautiful. The house is located near the I-5 exit, there is a HOV entrance to highway and exit a few blocks away that saves you time. Whenever people come to visit the house they are in awe. It is a unique and beautiful house and I love to share it with you.

Federal way Lake House
My family and I enjoyed staying at this house very much. It offered all that we needed for our weeks stay in Washington visiting with my son and his family. My grandchildren enjoyed the yard and swings very much. I have never stayed any place that provided as much as this home did. Erika was great to deal with. She responded to messages in a timely manor. If I had to complain about anything it would be the comfort of the beds, but in my opinion you can expect that anyplace that isn’t your normal at home bed. My husband was fine with the bed so it could just be me. I have disabilities so I am often uncomfortable away from home. It was very peaceful and quiet(except when my grandchildren was visiting) lol. I will definitely book this house again in the future.
Home away from home
We love this house! It is so cozy and we definitely feel comfortable there. Our kids enjoy the bunk beds in the bedroom and they have fun going outside to hang out on the deck and play on the swings.
The kitchen is stocked well with the pots and pans that you need to cook with and there are even some spices and other things that you need!
Erika is so nice and welcoming and answers my questions very quickly!
Wonderful place for Christmas stay
This is our second time renting this house for a week at Christmas so we can be close to family. It is very clean and has everything you need. We host a family dinner for 18 people and we are able to seat everyone and not feel crowded. It is close to shopping and the Angle Lake light rail so you can be downtown in 30 minutes. They lake is very pretty especially with the Christmas lights reflecting on the lake.
Spacious upper unit but needs better beds
We have stayed at many vacation homes (up too 500 a night) without reviewing as we get so busy and run out of the allotted time. This time I would like to make sure I give others a heads up of the pros/cons. Plus as rental homeowners ourselves we would appreciate any helpful recommendations and changes we might need to make :-)
Pros: This upper level rental has a beautiful view of the trees/lake and we especially loved all the open glass and spacious open floor plan. This unit could be great for large groups (although only our family stayed here) with plenty of sofa space and kitchen seating.
Cons: Sadly the beds (and pillows) were so uncomfortable I woke up in extreme neck pain every night (I have a lymph/lump on my neck and I’ve never had any issue from other vacation home beds or hotel beds before) even with the added small toppers on the mattresses. I slept on every bed in this house and slept in pain/lack of sleep. My other family members did not find the beds too comfortable either but they do not have a lump on their neck so they could tolerated it more. In addition, the master room was a little musty smelling but we realize WA has a lot of moisture and I’m sure an air purifier can fix that.
Before check out we did a load of towels, cleaned kitchen/did a load of dishes, took out all the trash, etc and messaged the owner we had checked out an hour earlier (the book requested to contact owner upon check out) but never heard back from the owner and maybe they were busy. Four days after our return home, I am still in neck pain and wish I had listened to the prior reviewer who mentioned something about the beds.
We hope the owners upgrade to better beds so others will not possibly endure the same.
Clean, well appointed
Erika provides a great home away from home for visitors to the Seattle area.We rented the unit for our family during a family wedding. It was spacious for all and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking.Lcation on the lake is a plus.Would highly recommend.
Beautiful place, well organized
Property was fine. Would have liked some water toys such as a paddle boat.
