Kaskazi is an Arabic/Swahili styled mansion surrounded with a large park ( 4,7 acres) filled with exotic plants and birds. On the coral cliff, with stunning ocean view, there are 3 dining places and 2 bonfires, barbecue and pizza oven serving a large dining table with space for 14 people. The garden is floodlighted in the evenings.Monkeys and bush babies are playing in the trees, and rare wild birds can be spotted any time. Free roaming Peacocks and Guinea fowles walk the spread out lawns facing the beach and the blue Indian Ocean. Our large outdoor aviary hosts friendly and lively parrots. You can relax on the underwater bench in the pool enjoying the magnificent ocean view as well as a game of bocha on the course in the coconut grove. The main entrance of the house is through an Arabic styled court yard. The first floor comprises a penthouse and 3 large terraces with a full view of the property.
We, Harriet Hetland and Eilif Torma, both Norwegians, bought Kaskazi in 2001 when we were working for the International Red Cross in Nairobi. We have since then developed the property to be a Swahili/Arabic styled mansion. For the last 4 years it has successfully operated as an up market boutique hotel.
However after more than 15 years in East Africa we, according to our long term plan, will return to Norway and rejoin our family and friends Consequently beautiful Kaksazi is for sale. However our excellent staff, under the leadership of our Manager Omari will, until a sale is concluded, keep themselves busy and serve guests this time on a letting basis.
Omari purchased this house in 2001
We bought this wonderful property in 2001. Msambweni is one of the very few unspoiled beaches left on the Kenyan coast Beach life is as it has been for many years with local fishermen, their dug out canoes, their traditional sailing boats. Always friendly and smiling.
There are no jet skis, no water skiing, just the rolling waves and the sound of the ocean breeze passing through the palms. The seclusion is a true luxury even though busy Diani Beach is just a few km. away.
The house, gardens and spread out lawns blends with the Indian Ocean. A tropical paradise of your dreams.
