A modern, bright and airy villa, set in an attractive private complex of just 40 properties with a beautiful shared pool (open early June to late September). Private parking. Living/dining room leading onto terrace garden. Kitchen is fully equipped hob, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer. 2 bedrooms (2 double). Bathroom. separate W.C. BBQ, Sky TV, DVD. Second TV in bedroom. On the outskirts of town, walking distance to restaurants, bars, shops, pier, marina. Languedoc-Roussillon offers a wide variety of landscapes from fine sandy beaches, scrublands, lagoons, vineyards and mountains. The natural land and seascapes offer a wide variety of sporting activities. Water sports; Sailing and sailing schools, Windsurfing, Deep Sea Fishing and normal Fishing, Water ski, Jetski, Diving, Boating and Sea Excursions. Land activities; Wineries, Tennis, Bike trails, Hiking, 4x4 Excursions, Go-cart, Horse riding, Golf, Mini Golf, Fitness studios, Canoeing and Kayaking. The Canal du Midi is the world's oldest working canal and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is still in use today and connects the Atlantic with the Mediterranean. I live in the South of Ireland with my husband, we are semi retired. We spent many holidays in France with our children and grew to love the easy pace of life and good climate. We bought our villa in 2008 giving us a wonderful base in Valras Plage.

Why Gertrude Magner chose Beziers area

Being in the heart of the Languedoc, Valras Plage is a great location, there really is something for everyone here. It is the ideal base to relax, to swim, to walk and to bike. We love the mix of town, beach, mountain, vineyards and canal. A day can bring lazy breakfast in the garden, a cycle on the tow path by the Canal du Midi, lunch and people watching in a village square, relax and swim in the late afternoon, a well earned snooze and dinner in one of the restaurants followed by a walk home in the cool of the evening.

There are some beautiful beaches and the village boasts some excellent restaurants. The area is easily accessible with 5 airports close by.

What makes this villa unique

Valras Plage town has all the necessary amenities all of which are within walking distance. There are many restaurants (including famous “Ma Ferme”, worth a visit ) and cafes that serve food, village stores, Tabac, Post office, two Boulangieres, Butchers, Fish Market, Pharmacy and Banks. Market is held each week. 3 supermarkets within approx 1.5miles. Open air free concerts are regularly held at the beach front.

Our villa is in a gated complex of just 40 villas situated on the way into Valras Plage. Our neighbours are permanent residents who make us feel that we are home and not just visiting, very helpful. We enjoy the 4 km long beach which is just 800 meters away or take a dip or lounge in the evening sun at the shared pool in the complex.

Notes on accommodation: Our villa is in a gated community, I provide a remote control for the electric gate, this is for convenience. Outside: Sun terrace with BBQ, dining table with parasol, 6 chairs and sun loungers. Balcony with occasional table and 2 chairs (cushions in the wardrobe) Private Parking space for one car. Utility Room: Washing Machine, Iron, Vacuum Cleaner. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Top quality linen and towels included (except beach towels). Blankets and extra pillows available. Cot with mattress and linen. Other: Small library on the upstairs landing with books to suit many tastes.

This spacious property is in the perfect area for exploring the south of France. Only a few minutes walk to the excellent beach, restaurants, bars and shops.

Villa with patio, balcony and WOW equipment

We keep coming back.This is our 4th time, getting great sunshine.

The owners provided super information in advance of arrival and they have lots more in the Villa, including maps. This time there was information on the €1 train journey opportunity within the region. Yes, €1. We took a 50 cent bus ride, from outside the villa, to Bezier and a great day trip to Nimes.

We walk to the beach in less than 10 minutes except when we allow ourselves to be distracted by the local indoor food market or the shops. The villa is so well equipped, it always encourages us to cook the wonderful local produce - had amazing marinaded duck breast last evening. The local restaurants are good value.

The Canal du Midi is nearby and we enjoy some lock watching, dining, walking and cycling along its banks. It's a great base for visiting local villages, and we have driven into the countryside and mountains. If you like searching for antiques, Peznas is a must. But it's the lure of Valras and the home from home comforts of the villa that has us back - the books, DVDs, a great place to relax or be active.

Lovely time!

My partner and I wanted to escape hustle and bustle of London for a week and opted for South of France. After hours of research we finally decided on Valras.

We wanted walking distance to the beach, restaurants and bars. This is exactly what we received, the location was perfect for us. We could pop to the supermarket up the road and stock up on fresh bread and cheese and then visit Ma Ferme (a must) for a lovely evening meal. This restaurant would be a little treat, however there are many more cheaper restaurants within ten minutes walk from the accommodation.

The accommodation itself was clean and tidy with all the appliances you need for self catering. We were able to wash our clothes, make use of the air conditioning and have breakfast on the balcony.

There is a lovely canal nearby which I recommend walking to, you will also find a yummy restaurant for lunch just by the bridge.

We had a lovely time here and will definitely return, next time I will bring my niece and nephews and make use of the activities for children (bucket and spade etc. for public use in the apartment) including the zip-wire on the beach :-)

The area is serviced by a large Carrefour at Sérignan, just 4 minutes drive out of the town. There are 2 Lidl shops within walking distance of the villa.

Carcassonne with its Cathar castle, Montpellierfor shopping, historic Pezenas, local festivals and for younger children there are many activities to occupy them including tennis, water parks, dinoland, petit train, farms, horse riding and of course Europark with the main attraction being the highest roller coaster in the South of France.

Further Details:

Valras Plage is a great location to sample the wines of the region, you can often stop off at the local “Cooperatives” to sample the wine and fill up bottles with the wine straight from the barrels.

For those who wish to dine in style there are many fine restaurants available. Why not try Ma Ferme, just 1.5 kms from the Villa, the Chateaux at Columbiers or Lespignan. Why not include a great lunch and fabulous view over looking the Orb river Gorge at Le Petit Nice in Rocquebrun on a day in the mountains. These offer a fine French dining experience. It is advisable to book beforehand.
