This is a pretty stone cottage situated on a high point in the surrounding countryside and the 13th century tower of Montcuq can be spotted from the terrace, as can the distant medieval village of Lauzerte. On clear days the Pyrenees are also visible. There are excellent markets around and the area is renowned for its gastronomy complemented by the famous Cahors wine. You are 5 mins from the village of Montcuq with its market, shops, cafés and also doctors etc. Plenty to do in the area with wonderful walls, canoeing or kayaking on the lot and célé rivers, Pech Merle caves and St Cirq Lapopie, Cahors Blues Festival, and much more. There is a pretty salt pool for your private use. The house is comfortable and tastefully fitted. The whole property comprises the owners' house and 2 barns (of which the cottage is one and the other is still a barn) - each house is in its own space and very private. We are tour organisers for walks in and around our region but also in Italy, Spain and England. We love our area where we have been for well over 20 years. The food is excellent, the countryside is beautiful and the people here are so friendly and keen to share their magnificent heritage. We are in the hospitality business and your well-being is our priority.

About James Tamlyn
We live in the countryside and enjoy beauty, nature, food and wine which is why we run walking tours in France and elsewhere, a walking party that we run like a house party with a relaxed but comfortable atmosphere. We enjoy our work and giving people the best possible holiday which is why we have decorated our guest house to be as as comfortable and as full of character as possible so that your stay will be memorable and enjoyable. We also enjoy all the arts, film, music, books and travel.
James Tamlyn purchased this Cottage in 1992
Why James Tamlyn chose Montcuq-En-Quercy-Blanc
We fell in love with the peacefulness and beauty of the area, the sunflowers, the poppies, the wild orchids, the migrating skeins of cranes, the vast skies with stunning sunsets and lack of light pollution for starlit nights. The sounds of the nightingale, the curlews, the nightjars, the owls, the deer and flocks of goldfinches and long-tailed tits. The food and wine, the lunches outside, the local markets, the culture and incredibly high standard of classical concerts during the summer. I could go on and on …...
