About Richard Pack

We're Richard and Niki and have a young family. Richard is a photographer and Niki is a producer and trainer of young event horses.

Richard was bought up in Cornwall in the very house they now live in, Niki is from just outside Cirencester in Gloucestershire.

We are passionate about where we live and can't wait to share it with others.

Whether it's spring, summer, autumn or winter, there's so much to do around here.

We look forward to meeting you.

Richard and Niki

Richard Pack purchased this barn in 2013

Why Richard Pack chose Cornwall

Richard grew up there but that I aside, we couldn't find anywhere more peaceful or beautiful. It's perfectly remote yet only three miles from the supermarket ! Close to the North and South coasts and out of the craziness of mid summer !

What makes this barn unique

It truly is unique, you'll struggle to find a Cornish gem better than this one. Whether you love, walking, cycling, surfing or just plain chilling !

The Perfect Retreat

  • 5 of 5

For a few days away in the heart of the Cornish countryside Dibbles Cottage is the perfect choice. A rustic cottage on the outside but with every modern convenience inside, modernised to an amazingly high standard. It is in a stunning location surrounded by woodland and the owner, Richard, could not have been more welcoming even when we arrived two hours early!

Located just outside Wadebridge it is within easy reach of Padstow, Port Isaac and Newquay and only forty minutes to the Eden project in St Austell, so plenty to see and do.

I would recommend Dibbles cottage to anyone and it would certainly be my first choice when visiting Cornwall in the future.

A Perfect Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We have recently returned from a few days in Cornwall where we stayed for part of the time at Dibbles Cottage.

It really is a lovely, secluded spot to 'get away from it all'.

Perfect for walkers, with many walks starting right from your own front door. I recommend walking to The Camel Valley Vineyard (approx 2 hrs) to sample the 'product' before setting off back.

Richard and Niki are the perfect hosts, unobtrusive but there when you need help or advice. The cottage is beautifully decorated and furnished and has everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Also recommend borrowing the bikes from Richard and heading down the Camel Trail to Padstow for tasty fish & chips.

We would definitely consider returning and highly recommend.

We expected better

  • 2 of 5

We have stayed in many self catering holiday cottages and apartments, all of which were less expensive but were much better. We have the following comments:

1. Not very clean. There were big cobwebs everywhere especially hanging over the bath. If you pulled the blinds up in the bathroom there was dirt and dead insects

2. The owners left one toilet roll which was supposed to last two people for seven days? We didn't expect to have to shop for toilet rolls!

3. No hairdryer

4. Just 4 dishwasher tablets to last seven days (we had to cut them in half)

5. No DVDs or player (others have had a very good selection especially when there hasn't been a good to signal as was the case here)

6. No welcome pack (unless you count one packet of biscuits). We expected at least some milk in the fridge

7. If you love your car then be aware that the cottage is down a long bumpy track which can get very muddy when it rains

We feel that the owners have a lot to learn if they are going to offer the cottage as a luxury getaway. It wouldn't take much to make it so, just a good cleaner and a bit of thought for holidaymakers needs

Owner's Response: We are extremely proud of our cottage and our previous reviews have been absolutely outstanding, so we are baffled by this. We live on site and saw you several times, giving you ample opportunity to voice your dissatisfaction. We make a point of welcoming all of our guests so that you feel comfortable to ask any questions about the area and were there to be any problems, voice any concerns. We have checked over the cottage since you left and found a single cobweb, it's autumn and spiders do unfortunately find their way in through open windows, this is the countryside. The Tv appears to work with no problems, we tested the five main channels and the picture is crystal clear and in HD. There is no hairdryer or DVD player, nor did we imply that there was on the equipment list. We place some comforts in the cottage for you as a gesture to make you comfortable and I'm sorry that you felt they were not enough for a self catering cottage. Our track is long but a maintained hard surface which brings you to a stunning location away from the hustle and bustle. It's no muddier than the country lanes of Cornwall. We're sorry that your experience did not reach your expectations. Best wishes Richard and Niki

Beautiful, peaceful location for a holiday

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week at the beginning of August (myself, my husband and our one year old) and we had the most amazing time. Richard welcomed us on arrival and told us everything we needed to know, and the house (and its location) was just amazing. Really felt like home yet was so stunning we knew we were definitely away! The location was perfect for both exploring Cornwall and for being away from it all in a really peaceful spot, and we would definitely return if we could (not sure if we'd fit as our toddler grows bigger!) Ideal for a couple on a romantic retreat. This house was a really lucky find and we couldn't quite believe we had managed to find somewhere to stay that was so lovely. We would recommend this property without hesitation and have done so to all our family and friends. Thank you to the owners for a wonderful base for our holiday!

Luxury Cornish cottage provides a home from home

  • 5 of 5

This is our second visit to Hustyns Mine Park and we enjoyed a great week in the comfortable homely and well equipped luxury cottage.

Warm welcome from Richard and Niki and Milo and Ted!

Great for a quiet week, or if you want more loads to do with great walks and great position for exploring Cornwall.

Beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting with friendly and helpful owners.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful long weekend break that was made even better by the accommodation. The cottage was beautifully renovated whilst still keeping many of the old features. The interior was stylish and functional and the surrounding lands were beautiful. When we arrived, Rich, the owner greeted us, answered any questions we had about the area regarding walks and things to do and gave us local insight into areas that are worth visiting and touristy areas to avoid. The property had a couple of 20-minute walks that were ideal for pre or post meal times and the use of the free bikes was taken advantage of. We spent a whole day in Padstow after cycling from the property along the camel trail and on a recommendation from Rich had a lovely meal in Rick Stein's cafe before having to cycle back. Be aware of the 3-mile hill on the way home! We also travelled along the north coast visiting Lundy bay and dipping in the seas before scouting the rock pools and collecting mussels for dinner. All in all a wonderful stay and I would recommend the cottage to any couple. Also the glamping tents that the owners had just built looked incredible so well worth a look!.
