Overview

About the property

Traditional Trullo, close to Ceglie Messapica. Peaceful countryside location.

Experience authentic Italian living, trullo style, in this traditional stone-built hideaway, ideal for couples or small families.

Accessed up a private driveway, lined with fruit trees, the trullo sits in its own, secluded ground with flowers and fruit trees all around and a large terrace to the front.

The trullo is well equipped inside with a fridge freezer, hob, microwave oven, TV for watching DVDs, wifi and a selection of books. The bedroom has a king sized bed and there is a dining table and chairs in the main living area, and a comfortable seating area in the cosy alcove.

The outside area has everything you could want for outdoor living in the Italian sunshine with a large stone BBQ for cooking the meat or fresh fish from the market – a perfect complement to the colourful Mediterranean vegetables and salads. Outside the kitchen in a shaded pergola with table and chairs to complete your al fresco dining experience.

The attractive 3.5m x 3.5m wooden, above-ground pool is perfect for cooling off after sunning yourself on the sun loungers with a glass of something cold to drink.

Trullo Mariuccia is centrally located so is the ideal base for exploring the towns of the Itria Valley; Alberobello, Ostuni, Martina Franca etc or for visiting the Adriatic and Ionian beaches. Of course, for those who just want to relax away from the stress of city living, Trullo Mariuccia is also perfect for just chilling out with some local wine in the sunshine in the heart of the Puglia countryside.

*NEW FOR 2017* The adjacent Annex is also available to rent to cater for you if you have a large group or families. This gives you one additional bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and seating area. The Annex is only available to rent an addition to the Trullo and will not be rented separately.

About Alison or Richard

My name is Luisa and Trullo Mariuccia has been in my family for generations and I have many happy memories of the trullo where we would spend long Sunday afternoons working our way through the seemly endless delicious food provided by various members of my family.

Born and raised in Ceglie, my children have now flown the nest and live in London and Milan but my heart still remains in the South of Italy and Ceglie in particular.

Beautiful, authentic and private

  • 5 of 5

The Trullo is authentic and full of Italian charm. It is incredibly private and with all the amenities you need for a relaxing and quiet holiday. Everything is well equipped. No air conditioning, but if you keep the shutters closed in the daytime, the Trullo remains nice and cool inside. Outside the pool, BBQ and several seating areas provide everything you need. Location is perfect to visit the small local towns and villages, drive to the beautiful beaches, and for the airports in the region.

Luisa was incredibly welcoming and waited for us even when we were much later than expected, and was equally accommodating when we had to leave on the last day very early. She had brought us a lovely basket of Italian food and drink for us on arrival, which was much appreciated after a long journey.

Typical, authentic ; brilliant

  • 5 of 5

If you like being quiet, in a place full of charm, while being near food trades.you will be for the paradise there. The small swimming pool is a delight to amuse and cool. We have the possibility of tasting fruits of the big garden:figs, grape...The small cooking is equipped well. And the person who welcomed us "Luisa" is charming. It's an excellent place of rest to visit the Salento. We recommend strongly!

Authentic charming and a great location

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful property which has been carefully modernised with the addition of a small kitchen and bathroom. The location is ideal situated between Ceglie Messipica and Martina France in a quiet rural area. The property itself is a traditional Trullo and so space is limited (dont expect double wardrobes!) but that just adds to the charm of the place. There is no air conditioning which in normal circumstances probably wouldnt be too bad as the Trullo does remain relatively cool. unfortunately while we were there we had a heatwave and so sleeping was uncomfortable on some nights. The Trullo does have everything that you need for your stay although some of the equipment is in need of replacing and / or updating i.e. knives, pots and pans etc. But if you are eating out most of the time not a problem. Kitchen space is again very limited but expected in an authentic Trullo. Luisa, the owner was fantastic and the perfect host. She respected our privacy and ensured everything was ok including sorting a small issue out with the pool pump which was a godsend with the heatwave! The surrounding countryside and towns are fantastic and very beautiful (once you get into the Centro storici). The figs in the garden had just started to ripen and were delicious in the morning, gently warmed by the summer Puglian sun. Overall a lovely place to stay in a lovely area of our favourite country and a warm and welcoming host.

Peaceful and pretty

  • 5 of 5

The Trullo was in a perfect and peaceful location! The bedroom and kitchen were compact but everything you would need for a couple! Luisa, the owner was just delightful, bringing us breakfast when she cleaned the pool, extra towels and showed us how to recognise the perfect fig! The area is beautiful and still very Italian!! We will definitely recommend it and will be back!

Lovely, secluded trullo in excellent location

  • 5 of 5

This trullo is ideal for a couple, especially if you are seeking a quiet location with good access to the principal attractions of the area - Martina Franca, Locorotondo, Alberobello and Cisternino are all within a short drive. The trullo is well equipped with a decent, smallish, kitchen and a large lounge area. The bedroom is compact but charming. Everything was clean and well presented. There is plenty of external space and a decent sized pool. Luisa is a charming host (assisted by Alison who helped out when we reached the limit of our Italian vocabulary) who went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed. We would thoroughly recommend this trullo as a place to stay and would revisit it ourselves.

Beautiful property, secluded location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 2 weeks, the weather was superb, the pool was refreshing and the peace and quiet was exactly what we were looking for. If you want a totally relaxing, peaceful holiday then thats exactly what you get. The property itself is well maintained with a large fridge and small freezer, gas hob and a BBQ, there is a small electric oven but we didnt use it. There are extensive grounds and we had fresh beautiful pears and figs right off the trees. Unforunately the peaches and olives weren't ready yet. Ceglie itself is a beautiful small town with hardly ant tourists, some very nice restaurants and a very lively main square for the 'passeggiata'

Map

Coast/Beach:

The many beaches and coves of the Adriatic are around 30 minutes away by car. As the trullo has a convenient central location, the long, flatter beaches of the Ionian coast can also be reached in just under an hour.

Travel:

We are lucky to have two airports within easy reach - Brindisi at 40 minutes away and Bari at 1 hour 20 minutes away. Some guests also fly into Naples which is around three and a half hours away.

As the trullo is in the heart of the countryside, a car is essential for getting around.

The local town, Ceglie Messapica, is just over five minutes drive away and has everything you could want including supermarkets, local shops, a weekly market and many excellent restaurants.
