About the property

House near Josselin, Morbihan, Brittany: peaceful rural location yet not isolated

Enjoy your holiday in comfort. We have tried to offer everything that we would want from a gite at prices that are as low as possible and without any extra charges.

So, after you arrive and park outside on the quiet lane you will walk into the light and airy large modern lounge/diner and kitchen area. You can watch UK free to air satellite TV, French free to air TV, a DVD or browse the fast reliable free internet. Upstairs you can relax in the large south facing bedrooms. All rooms have electric heaters and the lounge has an efficient wood burning stove.

Outside and across the lane you can sit in sun or shade in either of the garden areas, have a BBQ or play boules on the boules court. There are plenty of adult and children’s books and indoor and outdoor games to keep everyone occupied.

One of the garden areas is securely gated for the benefit of younger children. There is even a pond at the end of the lane with free fishing (licence needed).

We are sorry but there is no access to French TV channels because of recent broadcasting arrangement changes.

About Lynda O'neill

We moved to Brittany in 2014 to take early retirement from our jobs in teaching children with a range of special needs and social care.

For part of each year we live in the adjacent part of the property with our golden retriever. This has entirely separate garden areas but we are available if you need any assistance. We can also offer links with various local craft people for anyone interested in activities of this kind.

Having been through some of the issues of moving to France we would be very happy to help anyone considering buying a property in this beautiful area.

Lynda O'neill purchased this house in 2014

There is easy access to via the toll free roads to many places of interest on the coasts, countryside and towns.

A well equipped rural home.

  • 5 of 5

This house feels like a home and has everything you need. The hosts, Lynn and Kevin, who live next door, were very welcoming, friendly, generous and accommodating. We arrived to a bottle of wine, a supply of breakfast foods and a freshly baked cake!!

The house is in a tiny rural hamlet in the middle of nowhere but we chose it as a base because of its central location in Brittany. It is also a great place if a rural retreat is what you're looking for. It is especially well equipped for children with a playground in the yard, sports equipment, board games and a bookcase full of English children's books (plus adult books, and DVDs as well).

The only problem was the wifi was sometimes a bit patchy. But it did work.

We left wishing we could stay longer.

Owner's Response: We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Our aim is to make the gite homely and well equipped and are very glad that you found it to be like this. It is our belief that holiday makers should know what to expect from a holiday home and to be able to walk in to a comfortable and clean place to stay and that your description is very accurate. There can sometimes be problems with the French wifi which is unfortunately beyond our control, but we can confirm that it does usually work and is relatively fast.
