The outstanding 4-star living accommodation is open-plan with a fitted kitchen area. The dining table seats 4 people comfortably.
The Studio benefits from a wooden floor and large-scale custom made and double-glazed timber framed windows and is decorated in muted Farrow & Ball greens and creams. Furnishing is in a modern country style. We have also fitted a brand-new luxury kitchen in May 2015 with all new appliances, which will hopefully make your stay as comfortable as possible.
The Studio is equipped with a flat screen Freeview television / DVD player (with iPod / MP3 connectivity) and a CD player / radio. There is a gas 'coal flame' stove to supplement the central heating and make for cosy nights in during winter.
A tiled internal entrance porch makes a good place to shed muddy boots and to hang coats. There is also a small patio area with a beautiful view of the church and the centre of the village. There is ample space to store bikes, either in the entrance porch (or we can provide additional space should it be required).
All bed linen, towels, gas, electricity and use of Studio washing machine are included. A cot and high chair are available upon request, with the option of a folding bed for a third occupant (by prior arrangement). Wireless internet can also be made available should it be required.
The Studio is annexed to our family home but with its own private entrance. As a family with young children we also recognise the needs of parents (and the value of some time alone for parents) so we would be happy to discuss any requirements you may have.
There is ample parking on the road outside the Studio. There is the possibility, by special arrangement with the owners only, of using an off-road parking space for 1 small-to-medium sized car. However the access to the off-road space is a little narrow and requires some manoeuvring.
We can accommodate 1 small dog (by prior arrangement only) but unfortunately no other pets. The Studio is strictly no smoking.
Sarah and Omar live next door to the Studio at The Old Rectory with their young family, and have been residents of the village of Shirenewton for more than a decade.
They enjoy their rural and idyllic lifestyle in the village while remaining within touching distance of Bristol, Newport and Cardiff.

The Studio is comfortable, quiet, well equipped for self-catering and in an excellent position for Chepstow, Wye valley, Forest of Dean and the Transporter Bridge at Newport (worth a visit). Also, numerous castles within easy reach. An ideal retreat for cyclists as secure storage for bikes along with tools and spares if needed as well as cleaning products and an outside hose for washing off any mud! Definitely worth a visit, would love to return.
Conveniently located in the middle of a perfectly lovely village, this studio surpassed everything I had hoped for! The birdsong and church bells added to the peacefulness of this charming rental property. The attractive décor, the well-appointed kitchen, the comfortable loft bed, the access to laundry facilities, the cleanliness and the thought to detail were so appreciated. I wanted for nothing!! I will be back!
The Studio provided a very comfortable stay for the two of us for almost 4 weeks between house moves. Everything was as described and we had all we needed to cater for ourselves. It is perfectly located near to the village church and the local pub which serves some excellent food. There are many lovely walks amid beautiful scenery. Wonderful owners, very accommodating and thoughtful.

The pretty stone-built village of Shirenewton is a excellent centre for exploring the Wye and Usk valleys, the Brecon Beacons and the Forest of Dean.
Although we are only 5 miles from the Severn Bridge (with fantastic access to Bristol and Cardiff) you will find that we are well and truly in the country with the advantages of a thriving village with 3 pubs (including a gastro pub less than 50 metres walk away and another that serves very good home-cooked food).
Keen walkers will find several easy walks mapped from the house and we have equipped The Studio with maps and guides books to the surrounding area. Cyclists will find the area very rewarding, both for road cycling and mountain biking in nearby Wentwood.
Golfers will find the famous St Pierre course 5 miles away and the 2010 Ryder Cup venue Celtic Manor 11 miles away. Chepstow Racecourse is less than 4 miles away. If you love castles you will also love Monmouthshire!

Notes on prices:
We are always willing to consider a request for a weekend break instead of a full week, which is why we have Friday as our change-over day. Please be aware however that these requests will be harder to accommodate during the peak holiday weeks and season. Please also ask if a Saturday to Saturday stay works better for you.
We ask for a 20% deposit with payment in full of the balance within 8 weeks of the beginning of your stay. If you are making a booking inside the 8 week period, we ask for the full amount on booking please.
