Stylish, well-maintained apartment with pretty garden

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in the Logis du Rosier Blanc for a week in mid-June 2017. The apartment is on the lower-ground floor of the owner's home, effectively the undercroft - so there are no windows in either the bedroom, the bathroom or the small kitchen. It was comfortable, stylish, clean and well maintained - the photos are an accurate reflection. We enjoyed having breakfast and our evening meals on the small terrace, and there are sun loungers in the gravelled garden area directly infront of the apartment. The pretty garden is landscaped with pines, a mulberry tree and other provencal plants. The dipping pool is located a short walk away, up around the other side of the house and has views from it over the surrounding countryside. It is worth mentioning that there is another similar holiday rental unit directly next to this one (to the left as you look at the main photo) which you share the garden area with (and the dipping pool of course), and you do have to walk across the front of that unit to get to this one. A young couple and their baby were renting the next door unit to us during our stay and were no trouble, but we were very aware that they were there and not that far away from us. We chose Vidauban as a base as we thought it would be a good central location to visit places of interest like the coast and the Gorges du Verdon. We enjoyed a day visiting the Gorges, which take around an hour and a half to get to. We did a couple of trips to the coast, including a trip to Le Lavandou which has a wonderful market on a Thursday. We took the pretty but very windy road through the hills of Les Maures to get there (via the small picturesque village of Collobrieres, also worth a visit). Whilst this seemed the most direct route, it did take 1.5 hours get to Le Lavandou and there were a lot of cyclists on the narrow windy hill roads so we would advise not to under-estimate how long it takes to get to that part of the coast via that route, or how popular the area is with cyclists! Le Lavandou and also St Tropez were extremely busy which is to be expected during the summer months. The sheer volume of people on the roads and traffic jams around St Tropez meant that it took us a rather painful diversion and 2 hours to get back. Vidauban itself is about a 15 minute walk from the house through residential streets and has everything you need in terms of shops and services and a good Sunday market, but apart from that there is not much else to recommend it as a town.

Owner's Response: We are always happy when our guests enjoy our property. We do our very best to provide everything that will make their time here in Provence one of the very best holidays they will ever have. We do often give tips & advice of how to get the best & avoid the lesser agreeable aspects that being in one of the most beautiful regions of the world can sometimes attract... like traffic congestion, crowds, heat, mosquitos... all these things can be managed and quite often totally avoided. There is so much to do, see & experience that is wonderful, & we encourage and even help with lending cooler boxes, picnic parasols and beach chairs... it is very easy to get away from the crowds & congestion to experience & thoroughly enjoy Provencel like the locals do & not stick to well-worn tourist trails. The centre of the village is only 7 minutes walk away, down our lane & through meandering village streets past the shaded squares with fountains trickling. There are over 15 places to eat from snack to gastronomic, shops & Sunday morning market. A river, an aquatic leisure centre to walk & enjoy the nature. The village is not cute or tourist-centric, but active & authentic where people live, work & enjoy welcoming visitors from all over the world to participate in their many fetes & celebrations, to enjoy the wonderful wines & local food that is so very special to this region.
