Great lodge in a lovely part of the Lakes

  • 5 of 5

This is a great lodge in a lovely area of the Lake District. A big thank you to the owners who accommodated our request to tweak our arrival time and we received a warm welcome at Reception.

This two bedroomed lodge had everything we needed for our 4 night stay. The large open plan living area leads onto a large deck that offers a great view of the lake and mountains beyond.

The modern kitchen is well equipped (no washing machine as there is one on site just behind the lodge) and we were greeted with a lovely bottle of wine when we arrived.

There were two bedrooms with comfortable beds and both with ensuite bathrooms.

Despite the cold weather outside (we visited in February), the lodge was warm and cosy and there were plenty of games, books and DVDs to keep us entertained as we sheltered from the worst of the weather.

The site is great for dogs. Close to the lodge is a small field where we could let our dog off lead. There is also a short circular walk starting from Reception that takes you along the edge of the lake and up through the fields taking in fabulous views of Bassenthwaite and Skiddaw.

There is lots to do in the area. Keswick is a 10 minutes drive away. The Lakes Distillery is worth a visit and they have a gorgeous bistro. Many walks ranging from easy to challenging can be reached with a 20-30mins drive. Many of the walks we did were in the book "Countryside Dog Walks - Lake District North" which can be found on Amazon.

We loved our stay and we're already planning our next break here.

Lovely property, very modern and clean. The park is well kept and in a lovely setting.

We had three nights in this lodge and wish we'd had longer. It is very comfortable and homely and is a good base to explore Keswick and the surrounding area. The views are stunning on a clear day. The staff on the park were friendly and helpful.

Relaxing lake side holiday

  • 5 of 5

First impressions were great- clean, well equipped and comfortable lodge in a quiet setting - and these impressions remained for the whole stay. There was easy road access to both Keswick and Cockermouth for local shopping. Also, there are some great walks in the area, without getting in your car, especially worth it is a walk up Skiddaw.

Recommend a trip to the local distillery, which is close by.
