Apartment in Tenerife, Canary Islands - The Property Is Situated Within 5 Minutes Walk Of The Charming Village Of Escalona

The apartment is newly decorated and fully equipped and completely self contained, this is a rustic canarian property where you can expect to see lizards, wild birds etc. Set on private rural land it is down a steep village road through to a private gated drive, there is an aviary containing budgies, love birds and quails. The private 8m x 4m pool is set in a terraced area within a field of mature Yukka trees with views of the mountains.

There are magnificent views of the South coast down to the sea, La Gomera and Gran Canaria are also visible.

Located on the outskirts of the village of La Escalona the apartment is ideally situated for a peaceful holiday for exploring, hiking and walking in the surrounding area or for just relaxing in peace and tranquillity. The National Park and the Teide Mountain are easily reached by car in around 15 minutes as are the beaches of the south coast. This is truly an idyllic place but as it is a rural location a car is recommended.

                                                                  • Notes on accommodation: This is a rustic canarian property not a complex type apartment, more of a home from home and typically Spanish. Because of the rural location of the property, our manager Carl who lives next door will arrange to meet you in the village of Escalona to guide you to the apartment. The electricity is supplied via a euro meter which takes 1 or 2 euro coins. Outside: On the private patio there is patio furniture ideal for alfresco dining. Around the pool is extensive terracing with patio furniture. There is private use of the pool until 6:30 p.m. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen is provided including towels for the pool, these are changed weekly on stays of two weeks or more.

                                                                    A lovely week spent here in August. Superb views and a well equipped apartment. Car definitely recommended. Carl looks after you and makes sure all is A ok. I had a problem with tiny little ants which was taken care of by Carl swiftly and effectively. No A/C but so secluded its no problem leaving doors/windows open. One thing to mention is the lack of water pressure, very slow water flow making showering a bit of a task, hence 4 stars not 5. Having private use of pool is a lovely bonus, and a barbecue is available too should you require it. The views alone are worth the rental charge! Would not hesitate to stay here again. Thanks to Carl and family for fresh eggs and a warm and friendly welcome.

                                                                    We spent 2 weeks here and we have had the most amazing time. Very quiet and secluded barn with everything you need. It is very simply furnished and basic but clean. No frills! Carl and family who manage the barn, are such a welcoming lovely bunch of people and although they are next door they don't intrude on your holiday but are there for all your needs. There are chickens outside and fresh eggs supplied daily. They do make a noise in the mornings which we love the sound of but some may not. The only niggle we had was the meter for electric. It takes almost €2 a day and is inconvenient if you happen to run out of change. You need a car here because there really isn't anything going on in Las Escalona. We used the near by villages of San Miguel and Arona for shops and bars/cafe/restaurants. The cycle centre in San Miguel is great and cheap if you want a breakfast or drinks. The patisserie in Arona called Aroma is amazing. Such lovely pastries. Coffee and a pastry for €2 We enjoyed it many times. There is lots to do on the island and we enjoyed mount Teide, Masca (crazy roads), Loro park, Jungle Park, Camel rides, swimming with Sea Lions and climbing Montana Roja! We have had such a lovely holiday. We will be coming back for sure.

                                                                    Relaxing holiday in a small mountain village. The village has two decent restaurants and a small shop within walking distance. We would recommend (El Chamo) for the friendly service and hugh portions of traditional Canarian food. You would probably want to hire a car and we were glad ours was a jeep! The village of Escalona two thirds of the way from the coast to the well known village of Vilaflor sits of the boundary between the highest market gardens and the lower ends of the vineyards its surrounded by lots of interesting countryside with a mass of accessible walks. The apartment itself is simply furnished but clean with a small private patio facing the sun and a view to the south and across the drive way a clean, cool and well maintained pool which is yours to enjoy. On hand to meet your needs in the adjoining house is English man / caretaker Carl and his family. Friendly, welcoming and attentive they were happy to help us enjoy our stay.

                                                                    Carl, Gwen and the family who live next door and look after the apartment were lovely, they could not do enough for you but at the same time left you to get on and enjoy your holiday.

                                                                    The locals were lovely and we ate in El Chamo most evenings. staff were all very pleasant, warm and welcoming and The food was amazingly good as was the wine.

                                                                    Great area for exploring the local villages and coastline not to far to drive to. You will need a car to get places as the local shops are are very small and the nearest supermarket etc... is about 30 mins drive.

                                                                    It can get a little cold as it's up in the mountains and temperatures drop on an evening.

                                                                    I was based in La Escalona for around a month for scientific research, and the apartment had everything that I needed to make me feel at home. The tenants were extremely welcoming and friendly, and helped me and shared advice on numerous occasions. The setting is quiet and comfortable, with lovely views to the southern coast, and quick access to Vilaflor and Mnt. Teide beyond. The kitchen had everything you would require. I would thoroughly recommend this place to a solo traveller or couple looking to explore a more natural side to Tenerife.

                                                                    We loved our stay at the apartment. The weather was dreadful when we arrived (at the end of May!) but we had a lovely warm welcome from Carl and Gwen, who assured us it wasn't always that bad. (They were right!)

                                                                    This really is a 'get away from it all' property and area, yet only half an hour from lots of different places. The pool area was lovely and the views from our patio were amazing.

                                                                    Coast/Beach: By car the south coast beaches are about 20 minutes away. Travel: By car the South airport is 30 minutes away. Distances: The nearest village is Escalona which is a 5 minute walk, there are a couple of shops, a church, a school, a bar and three good restaurants. Vilaflor is 15 minutes by car an interesting town with a beautiful church and a nice square with shops and cafes. Further Details: As this property is in a higher rural location the climate here can be different to the south coast. It is hotter in the summer throughout the day and night. At other times of the year it can be cooler when the sun goes down so a jacket might be needed.
