The perfect location and setting, for visiting the main attractions of Northern Portugal and relaxing around the pool in an elevated position. We only finished the Casa Dos Sonhos in 2013 with rental in mind, and have rented it out successfully over the last three summers when not using it ourselves. It has a very modern interior mixed with traditional granite and tiles. The Private pool is secured with a 'magna latch' gate and can clearly be seen from the living room. The view from the pool and veranda is spectacular and far reaching, and the village is very quiet.

My wife Anne and I live and work as House Parents at an Independent School, and our twin daughters are about to start university. With long school holidays, we decided to invest in property overseas, so in 2006 we purchased an unfinished property, allowing us to put our own stamp on it. 10 years on, and with rental always in mind, we are now sharing 'Casa Dos Sonhos' (House of Dreams) with others. The pool went in Feb 2012 and we think you'll agree, the views are quite special, as they are from the veranda and BBQ area.

Why alan witcomb chose Municipality of Penafiel
We spent six weeks in the summer of 2006 looking for a property in either; Northern Spain or Northern Portugal. The 'green' area. We can travel door to door in 6hrs with only hand luggage. Only a few degrees cooler than the south, but a world apart. The scenery is spectacular, the people are friendly, and best of all, the lifestyle is relaxed. We could not be more central for everything the North has to offer. It is approx 30mins; East to Amarante, The Water Park, and the golf course. West to Porto, the airport and the beaches. South to the famous Douro Valley, and North to Guimaraes.
What makes this Villa unique
The far reaching views are spectacular during the day, but even better at night, with thousands of orange street lights flickering down in the distance. Being in a small village 3 miles outside of Penafiel Town, we have our own cafe/bar within 100m and the corner shop with it's own butchers is only another 100m. There is also a new community sports court by the cafe which has a basketball and handball court, open all day and free. We have played football against the local lads....and lost several times! Our daughter also experiences the best Horse Riding she has ever had, only 9 miles from the villa and for only £12 an hour.

The villa is fantastic .. It. Is equipped with everything you could ever want or need . The views from the pool area are wonderful ..
Coast/Beach: The beaches both South and North of Porto are vast in size, therefore never really crowded, and have excellent sand. By car it takes approx 45mins, or the train (5 min walk) takes about an hour but drops you 400m away. There are numerous cafés and bars wherever you stop. Travel: Oporto Airport is only 30km away, all on motorway. It is an excellent small airport with all the main car hire companies on site. Although car hire is advised, there is a train which goes to Porto and then onto Penafiel station, which takes about 90mins. The nearest ferry point is Santander in Spain, where Brittany Ferries operate from Plymouth twice a week. Allow up to 8 hours for the journey. Distances: The local café is 100m away and the corner shop is a further 100m. The local supermarket is 3 miles. Penafiel is a beautiful and friendly Town and is 3 miles away. The local, and best Vineyard is 5 miles. Penafiel Theme Park is 4 miles. Further Details: There is a water park, with flumes etc on the outskirts of Amarante. Eating out is very good and inexpensive. At the villa you will find a more comprehensive package explaining; shops, banks, restaurants, walks/running routes, cinema (in English), ten-pin bowling etc.
Additional information about rental rates
Booking Notes: Payments by bank transfer in either England or Portugal. A 30% deposit is required for confirming the reservation. This is refundable up to one month before travel. 70% due 4 weeks before arrival. A cheque for £250 will also be held (But not cashed) to offset any major breakages. Prices are in pounds but can be paid in Euro. Changeover Day: Changeover day is flexible, as we know flight prices vary so much. Notes on prices: We only rent our villa as a 3 bed property in May, June and September. In July and August we only rent it as a 5 bed villa. If heating should be required there would be an additional cost. A 10% discount will be given for the second week of a two week booking.
