Folkingham - Quiet, self contained and absorbs people to give a relaxed atmosphere. Village amenities to hand.
Folkingham Manor is the perfect house for family get-togethers and friends reunions as well as more traditional holiday breaks.
The art historian, Nikolaus Pevsner, particularly appreciated the piano nobile level (1st floor) which houses two large reception rooms (sitting room and dining room) and a study. The top two floors hold the beamed bedrooms and bathrooms. On the ground floor there is a large kitchen with an AGA and dining table for informal meals, a second kitchen, walk in pantry and library.
The 1 acre garden is split into different areas of lawn and borders with plenty of room for car parking on the extended gravel drive. There is an all-weather tennis court suitable for year round use.
The village of Folkingham has a 7 day a week shop, PO, pub and fine Early English church. It is considered to be one of the finest villages in the county with its wide market place surrounded by Georgian houses.
The beautiful town of Stamford, renowned for its architecture, 7 churches, The George Hotel and much more is easily accessible as is historic Lincoln to the north and Peterborough to the south. The well serviced Grantham mainline station is just 20 minutes away by car and it then takes under an hour to London Kings Cross.
Within the vicinity there are golf courses, fishing lakes and riding stables.

What a beautiful building ,perfect for my mum's surprise 60th birthday plenty of room for lots of people. The tennis court was also a great bonus. Would happily return :)
Fantastic time. House great and tennis court added real value.
We went for family surprise birthday. Perfect size and kids loved the garden and the tennis. Already planning out next trip!
Beautiful spacious property with original features.
The house keeper was very helpful and responsive to our requests and needs. Yvette accepted delivery of our shopping as we were stuck in traffic. We were welcomed with a lovely box of chocolates hand made from the shop literally across the road. We were 9 adults meeting for a weekend gathering and enjoyed relaxing and socialising in the lounge. The Manor was extremely spacious and warm. The kitchen and dinning area made cooking and dinning a delight. The grounds were lovely to walk around and explore. Definitely recommend.
A relaxing spacious house
Spacious, comfortable, clean and well appointed house with an extensive, attractive, quiet garden. Ample utensils, crockery, cutlery and glasses. The attic bedroom lacked clothes storage, so did a couple of the single rooms. Overall, well worth a visit
Amazing and adaptable property!
We used The Manor House for a weekend get together with old school friends. It is massive but we still managed to feel cosy.
We used the kitchen for one meal, which is lovely and sunny and warmed by an enormous aga and then we used the dining room for another meal, which although is more formal it is a lovely room.
All of the bedrooms are big, some enormous, and the bathrooms/showers worked really well considering the size and age of the house.
The layout is interesting and hasn't been changed since it was built, so the lower ground floor is clearly the 'servants' quarters, including a massive walk in larder! The upper floors are even serviced by a separate front door and much grander.
The grounds are lovely and a lot of fun was had on the tennis court! There is plenty of parking, we had 6 cars with room for more.
The centre of the village of Folkingam is picture perfect and the local pub does good home cooked meals. There is a village shop that is open til 8pm most nights and is well stocked. There are also some lovely walks around the area.
A tiny downside would be that the A15 cuts through the village but you can't hear it from the house.
Overall highly recommended.
Lovely house, amazing garden
