Casa Olivia is a newly furnished traditional village house set on 3 floors within the beautiful village of Palleggio, close to San Cassiano, one of Bagni di Lucca's lovely hill villages. The village is full of Tuscan charm with cobbled streets, very friendly locals and surrounded by stunning scenery that this part of Tuscany is famous for. Casa Olivia has beautiful mountain views over the Lima Valley. In San Cassiano 5 mins up behind Palleggio can be found shops, bars and restaurants. The historic spa town of Bagni di Lucca with great public swimming pools is a 10 min drive and the ski resorts of Abetone and Doganaccia are only 30 mins away. Palleggio is a great location for exploring this part of Tuscany. Although enjoying stunning views of nearby hills and mountains, the house is only 2 minutes from the SS12 so access is easy with just 1 hairpin bend to reach the village. It can be reached by drivers with relative inexperience of driving in Italy.

About Wendy Stevens
We have been married for 25 years and have 3 children. We bought Casa Olivia as a 25th Wedding Anniversary gift to each other and look forward to spending many happy future holidays in our Tuscan home. Mark and Wendy
Wendy Stevens purchased this House in 2014
Why Wendy Stevens chose Bagni di Lucca
Following many happy family holidays in Liguria and Tuscany we decided that we wanted to buy our dream holiday home in the Lucca area. We wanted a traditional property in an area of outstanding natural beauty but with modern conveniences close at hand. In Spring 2014 we found our dream home and named it Casa Olivia after our daughter Olivia, youngest of our 3 children. We look forward to sharing our Tuscan home with you.
What makes this House unique
The village of Palleggio is a beautiful, tranquil and traditional Tuscan Village. Once unpacked we have a feeling of total relaxation. There are so many places of interest to visit locally and the coast is within easy reach. As an alternative, we often prefer to go walking and then to relax in the garden and to cool off in the pool. We visit Lucca every few days when we visit as it is such a beautiful city with great restaurants and a famous music festival (This year Stevie Wonder, The Eagles and The Prodigy, covering all tastes!!) We love visiting and exploring local villages on our bikes to sample the local Tuscan cuisine and also the odd glass of wine!

Beautiful, traditional Tuscan house
Thank you to Wendy and Mark for letting us stay in your beautiful home. I had been told a lot about the property before our visit from a friend. However, it exceeded my expectations. Everything we needed was in the property and there was plenty of room and privacy for all. The village is so peaceful and quiet and was exactly what we needed. Once again, a big thank you!!
Many thanks for your very kind review. We are so glad you enjoyed your week at Casa Olivia.

Lovely two weeks in Casa Olivia
Lovely decorated home with everything that you need. Beware that there is a steep climb from the car park to the house. When we did our shopping we parked higher up at the church and walked down. Very spacious home set over three floors. Excellent that it had a washing machine especially given that we have three children. There was a heatwave so the swimming pool could not be used as it was half full and there was a water ban. We therefore made full use of the local lido which was a godsend in the heat.
Dear Kate, Many thanks for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for your understanding regarding the severe weather conditions leading to a drought in Tuscany. The public pool in Bagni is indeed a great place to visit.
Fantastic holiday accommodation set in beautiful surroundings
We all enjoyed this holiday so much , and visited Florence , Pisa , Lucca and Abetone to name but a few. Cycling around the walls of Lucca and the leaning tower were our favourites also trips down to the river and hiring a paddle board from the Canyon Park. It was always a pleasure after a long day sight seeing to return to the comfort of Casa Olivia which has a superb kitchen to cook in and spacious lounge to relax in. In between busy days we cooled off in the pool and terraced area which has lovely views of the mountains. There are so many nice villages to visit many of which had great restaurants. The information pack is so useful and helped us in planning days out. The cycling in area is challenging but rewarded by stunning views and was a highlight of the holiday.Thank you for making our family holiday so special.
Thank you so much for your kind words. The Canyon Park adventure is still developing so we shall update our visitor pack accordingly. It sounds like a great day out!
An idyllic Tuscan hideaway
We have just returned from a wonderful week at Casa Olivia. The house is beautifully decorated, comfortable, clean and well equipped.
Pallegio offers an authentic Tuscan hill village experience. We enjoyed the tranquillity and beauty of this village and the Bagni di Lucca area as well as trips further afield. Lucca and Barga were particular highlights.
We enjoyed a range of different dining experiences ranging from the simple Da Santana where there is no menu (we walked back, about a kilometre downhill afterwards) to the more elaborate but excellent value Villa Aurora and Circola De Foresteiri in Bagni di Lucca. The owners provide excellent information about local places of interest, restaurants and events. My husband took advantage of the location to take on some challenging cycle rides to Abetone and Sestola while I had a lazy day in the garden reading. We were lucky to be there during the season when the spectacular fireflies danced in the hedges at night.
Thank you for your wonderful review. We really appreciate your view and tips for future guests. So glad you enjoyed your stay.

A lovely house in a peaceful village
We rented Casa Olivia for a week and had a wonderful time.
The house is very authentic and the perfect base for a vacation.
The owners had done a lot to inform us about everything. From directions to the house to tips for things to see and places to eat.
The house has a very nice garden with pool, where we could relax after a long day. The only thing we missed a bit was some cushions for the sunbeds and chairs.
We visited many places (Pisa, Lucca, Bagni di Lucca, Barga, Florence among others) and tried several local restaurants. The ones we liked best was Villa Aurora (Casabasciana), Marina´s and especially Buca Di Baldabo'.
If you want a holiday in Tuscany and stay in a quit village surrounded by beautiful nature, we can highly recommend the spacious, clean and cozy Casa Olivia.
You will not be disappointed.
Thank you so much for your review. We value your feedback and will look into the points you have made. Really pleased you tried some of our recommendations on good places to eat. We really love the area and it is nice to hear our guests do too. Best wishes Mark and Wendy
Beautiful house in a stunning location
We have had a wonderful week in this beautiful house. We had a warm welcome from the local neighbours, who showed us around the immediate vicinity and were kind enough to invite us to an annual street party event.
We visited Lucca twice and spent a lovely evening cycling the city walls and afterwards watching the world go by drinking Aperol Spritz.
We visited Florence by train from Altopascio- it was a long time travelling but worth the experience of an Italian train ride and much easier than having to park!! We also visited Pisa and Abetone, where we enjoyed the ski lift ride up to the top to enjoy the fantastic mountain views! Devils Bridge is also very beautiful and popular to visit.
The weather has been superb for our weeks stay and the pool and the garden have been a welcome respite. The views are breathtaking.
The house is very well equipped and comfortable. Our eldest teenage son was very impressed with the coffe machine and has now added one to his Christmas list!!
We ate at Villa Aurora one evening after reading the recommendations and is well worth a visit.
We have decide that a week is good but there is so much to do and see in the area, we definitely need an excuse to come back again.
Thank you for a fantastic week in Tuscany
Thank you for sharing your holiday experience. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Very pleased that you enjoyed our house and the beautiful location.
Best wishes Mark and Wendy
