Mark and Tracey live in Barton on Sea, Hampshire, just a short drive from Shorefield Park. After visiting the area from our home in Oxfordshire for 3 years we loved the area so much we decided to move here permanently.
Mark Mallinson purchased this cabin in 2012
We fell in love with Shorefield and Milford on Sea when we visited in 2011. As soon as we saw the stream side vacant pitch we reserved it and set about finding the perfect lodge to fill it. In April 2012 our brand new Pathfinder holiday lodge was completed with a range of custom features to take advantage of the unique location.
Although the lodge is on a large country park with lots of amenities the location is extremely peaceful and quiet (apart form the sound of the stream running by) and is a great place to watch the local birds and wildlife. Wildlife we have seen from the lodge includes rabbits, squirrels, roe deer, pole cat. Some of the many birds we regularly see are greater spotted woodpecker, green woodpecker, nuthatches, buzzards, sparrow hawk, moorhens, mallards, little egrets, grey wagtails, bullfinches, goldfinches and treecreepers. If you are lucky you can also spot kingfishers along the stream-side woodland walk into town.
We had a lovely stay the luxury lodge was a luxury lodge and we had a very comfortable stay. In a nice quiet location close to lymington the beach and the forest.
The "Bolt Hole" is fantastic! A lovely clean, cosy, very well stocked gem of a holiday home find. The location on the park is just idyllic. Milford-on-Sea is lovely and the park is located near some wonderful locations. Couldn't have asked for more! Didn't want to leave!!
The lodge is set in a beautiful, quiet part of the site with a lovely stream running right outside. The accomodation had everything you could wish for whilst on holiday and the bed was so comfy it was a real struggle to get up in the mornings!! We were very lucky with the weather during our stay which meant my son had great fun playing football on the large grass area just by the lodge and we spent some time on the beach which was about 5 mins walk away and also in the outdoor pool on site which although was meant to be heated was a little cold for me! Really sad to be leaving as we thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing break in this fantastic lodge. Many thanks Mark!
We had an absolutely lovely time, the setting is idyllic, peaceful and quiet but only a five minute walk to the pool etc. The lodge itself was spotless and had everything you need. Having Netflix was an unexpected bonus. Mark could not have been more helpful answering any questions.
Thanks for your email Mark. Both my husband and I had a lovely relaxing weekend in your lovely lodge. It was warm, quiet and comfortable. We didn't use any of the leisure facilities on the site as we spent most of our time either relaxing in the lodge or out visiting Lymington, the New Forest or walking along the cliff top at Milton and Milford.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and it was just what we needed to re-charge our batteries! I would recommend your lodge to anyone looking for a tranquil getaway.
Our only criticism would be the lack of a teapot! as I'm afraid we are old fashioned and like to have a proper Yorkshire brew !
We would love to return some time.

My Husband and I and our two year old had a fantastic stay at the Bolthole. The accommodation itself is placed perfectly on the site for those wanting a peaceful and tranquil stay. We could watch the rabbits, birds and squirrels from our cosy living room. The accommodation is situated within a five minute walk to the pebbled beach as well as providing a woodland walk to the nearest village. There isn't a huge amount in the village but a lovely place to potter around. The nearest bus stop is also within walking distance from the accommodation.
We played along the stream, that ran through the site, with our fishing nets and played in the very well presented children's park. There is a large Spar shop on site with everything needed as well as a bar / restaurant, arcade and swimming pool. Apart from the shops we didn't use these facilities. The swimming pool had a queing system, probably due to the poor weather, but all seemed clean and tidy.
The accommodation itself was very clean, up to date and tidy. All kitchen equipment was provided which saved a lot of packing i.e washing up liquid, tea towels, cloths etc. Great communication with the owner. Thank you.
Overall a fantastic stay in which we would love to stay again.
5 minutes walk to Milford/Hordle pebble beach. Outstanding views across to the Isle of Wight Needles with cliff top walks to Milford on Sea (20 minutes) and Barton on Sea (30 minutes). Short drive east to Keyhaven sailing/nature reserve and west to Muddeford and Hengistbury beaches.
2 miles outside coastal village of Milford on Sea located between Lymington and Christchurch on the edge of the New Forest national park. 8 miles to Christchurch and 15 miles to Bournemouth. 2 hours drive from London.
Lots of local coastal and country pubs. Wide range of family friendly restaurants and fine dining options in nearby Milford on Sea, Barton on Sea Christchurch and Lymington.
