Abernethy house in central Keswick - Short breaks and flexible change over days are available.
About Deborah Dickinson
We have recently purchased Abernethy as a place to stay with our young family and friends. As keen outdoor enthusiasts we couldn't think of a better place for a home away from home and we hope guests enjoy the house and surroundings as much as we do.
Deborah Dickinson purchased this House in 2014
Why Deborah Dickinson chose Keswick
We love Cumbria and the Lake District and it has been a dream of ours to one day own a house in Keswick. We have a young family and are keen for them to grow up experiencing adventure in the outdoors. Abernethy's prime location, with outdoor and indoor activities accessible on foot from the door, make it an ideal place for all ages and all interests. We also greatly appreciate home comforts such as instant hot water, an open fire and comfortable beds - especially after a day walking in the fells or cycling over mountain passes. After all that fresh air we like to relax with a pint of Cumbrian ale and a meal in one of the many restaurants. We believe guests will enjoy both the comfort of the house and the array of activities and entertainment in the local area.
What makes this House unique
Abernethy's perfect location (central yet quiet) make it ideal for access to the many parks, restaurants, pubs, shops, Derwentwater Lake and surrounding Lakeland Fells. A small supermarket is within 2 mins walk, and the main shops all within 10 mins from the door. Fitz Park with it's newly refurbished play area, grass tennis courts, bowling and putting is 3 mins walk from the door too.

Great base for the Lakes
The house was ideal for several reasons- good base for our walking trip, close to local amenities such as food shops and pubs and restaurants. Rooms were comfortable, kitchen well equipped, lounge had a great view as it was on the 1st floor. Parking was ok - we found 3 parking places fairly close to the house at all times.
Lovely house, great location, wonderful weather.
This was our 2nd time staying at Abernathy and we had another great week. Perfect for our 3 families.
Cosy house. Suited extended family really well.
Property was well equipped and thanks for the wine! We had a lovely stay thanks. Geoff
Great place to stay
Well equipped house, in a great location, 5 minute walk from the town of Keswick. The only comment made by a couple of a party of 10, is that a couple of the beds were uncomfortable.
Lovely comfortable house with some nice period features - Victorian pot etc. Living room was spacious and homely with stunning views.
Lovely and warm and clean.
Mattresses however and bedding was not of the best quality though.
However, all in all it was a fabulous place to stay.
Abernethy is probably the best equipped rental property we have ever been to. Great position just a couple of minutes walk to the centre of Keswick. Highly recommended.
Thank you David.
We are glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciated all of the utensils, games, cleaning products etc We do love the house (and its location) ourselves.
