About Dom Younger
We simply adore this part of France and of course the relaxed French way of life. We have renovated La Jouanade which has been a labour of love - we hope you love it as much as we do! We will do anything we can to make your stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible, if you have any questions or requirements at all just ask.
Why Dom Younger chose Montirat
Easy to get to from Toulouse or Rodez airports. Also easy to hop over the border to Spain for a day trip (border 3 hours away).
What makes this Cottage unique
La Jouanade is typical of the area and was originally a mixed farm with both crops and livestock and owned a lot of the surrounding land and woodland. Now it is a pleasantly secluded retreat which offers you a haven from the madding crowd. The property is warm and friendly with a happy feel. It is very well appointed and ideal for a couple seeking a romantic hideaway in a beautiful natural setting. It is ideal for fun, adventures, and enjoying everything this beautiful part of France has to offer. Rustic and rural, it feels like you have travelled back in time to a more simple life - yet with all the mod cons you need. Perfect for nature lovers with walks galore. Fields and woodland all around the house, just perfect for exploring and trying to spot all the different wildlife. Relax and unwind with a soothing massage from our massage therapist who will come to you. Chose where you would like your treatment, in Le Chalet, on the deck, by the pool or in the garden. Meditation and Yoga sessions are also available. The La Jouanade family has grown recently with the adoption of Golly (Goliath) the larger than normal cat! He was rescued from a nearby animal shelter in January 2016 and is certainly enjoying his new home. Although like most cats he spends most of his time asleep. We also have 4 hens which wander freely around the gardens; Janet, Maggie, Blanche and Dorothy (Yes we did name them!). They are completely free range and can be seen pottering about in the garden eating insects etc. In November 2016 Millie arrived - a beautiful female black labrador. She absolutely loves to play games with the cat and the chickens, although we are not sure they feel the same way! Unfortunately we dont allow guests to bring their own pets to La Jouanade, but we encourage you to enjoy ours while you are here. Furthermore if you have any animal allergies or phobias please contact the owners to discuss before booking.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Relaxing getaway, bird watchers paradise with beautiful views.
We loved the quirky rustic property with lovely views from all windows. Everything and more was in the chalet, spent most of the time enjoying the garden and the pool area. Eating alfresco on the raised decking area was lovely, BBQ's with views and birdsong. Excellent property in a beautiful area would highly recommend.
Surrounded by beautiful countryside this is a lovely, peaceful place to stay. Dom and Faye were very welcoming. House has everything you need and the pool was wonderful after a hot day sightseeing. Nice gardens, with views all around. Lots of great places to visit within a short drive. Millie the dog was always ready to play and could’ve watched the chickens all day! Would highly recommend this property and would stay again.
Many thanks for your review we are so pleased you had a lovely time at La Jouanade and especially enjoyed the company of our animals. We all look forward to seeing you again soon!
My wife and I stayed at La Jouanade for two weeks at the end of August 2018. We've stayed in many gites around the South of France and this is by far the best.
The location is superb. Plenty of beautiful towns to explore within a short drive. A small town with a bakery and shop within a few minutes and plenty of amazing countryside walks. More than enough to keep you entertained for 2 weeks (or more if you're lucky). You need a car, but the roads are dead quiet. Driving is a breeze.
The accommodation is simply beautiful. The gardens are well kept with incredible views of the countryside. The pool area is immaculate. The chalet itself has everything you need for cooking and relaxing.
The best thing about our stay was the peaceful vibe. Which feels organic, but credit must go to the owners for the part they play. You feel instantly at peace. Dom and Fay were welcoming, we always felt looked after, however they respected our privacy and for the most part we felt like we were deep in the French countryside on our own. They have a beautiful dog Millie, who is amazingly well behaved. So if you're not a dog person, fear not, she won't affect your stay. However, if you like animals - she is the best holiday companion you could hope for (second to my wife - obviously). Add the chickens to the mix and you've got a sensational set up for a world class holiday. Don't hesitate - book it.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. It makes us very happy to get such good feedback and also to know that you made such good friends with Millie - our director of customer relations! :)
We hope to see you again soon.
Romantic chalet in the heart of the Tarn
A charming stay in an idyllic setting bought together by a very welcoming English couple. Although very rural (you will definitely need a car) La Jouanade is centrally located within a 30-40 min drive to a number of quaint French towns like Albi, Cordes sur Ciel, Najac, Laguepie, St Antonin Noble Val and Villefranche-de-Rouergue. It was the perfect backdrop to our honeymoon. Everything was so tranquille and calm, with a lovely pool to help manage the summer heat and a full kitchen for nights where you want to stay-in and enjoy the lovely terrace. Thanks to Dom and Faye for making our honeymoon feel so special. We hope to have the chance to visit the jouanade again in the future!
Fabulous in every way!
What a fabulous find! My teenage daughter and I stayed for a short mid week break. We received the warmest welcome from the owners Dom, Fay and Finn and were told about the lovely property -they obviously have gone above and beyond to cater for your comfort and enjoyment. The accomodation is absolutely beautiful with wonderful luxurious bed linen and spotlessly clean facilities including a really stunning bathroom. We enjoyed eating and enjoying the wonderful view from the raised terrace and the pool area was amazing, with lovely comfortable furniture and beautiful views. Spending time just to enjoy the quietness in the evening and the beautiful clear sky was a real treat. The local area really is a treat and the Owners were able to tell us some great places to visit. We will definitely be back for another visit -a really fabulous find for a relaxing break and as a base to explore the local area -thank you !
Many thanks for your lovely comments. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and look forward to having you both come and stay again soon!
Lovely cottage in the Tarn region!
La Jouanade has really impressed us. The cottage and its surroundings look even more beautiful in real life than in the pictures! Dom and Fay are wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome. They were always available if you had a question and asked multiple times if we were enjoying everything, but they also really respect your privacy.
The cottage itself is just perfect. It is well equipped and beautifully decorated. The terrace in treehouse style is so cool, never had something like this before. In the evening this is the perfect place to have dinner while enjoying the sunset. Oh and not
to forget the comfortable bed and amazing bathroom!
The cottage as well as the pool (which has a cleaning robot) were spotlessly clean. Besides being clean, the pool is quite large, and has amazing views!
Because of the rural location, you have to drive at least 15/20 minutes to get to a somehwat bigger village or road. We already knew this before going so for us it was absolutely not a problem. There are many things to explore in the region - think of cities like Najac (which has a cool adventure park where you can climb in trees or go kayaking), Cordes sur Ciel and Albi (Dom and Fay have provided their guests with lots of information brochures and maps). But we also really enjoyed the days of afternoons at La Jouanade, swimming and relaxing... it didn't get boring at all!
Millie the dog is super cute! She came to say hello a few times, and she really likes cuddling and playing in the garden. Also the chickens were nice, we didn't know we could enjoy chickens that much!
Overall it was just perfect! If we would have to give some feedback, the only thing that came to our mind is that it would maybe help to install some insect screens before the windows. This would prevent insects (mosquitos, spiders, centipedes) to get inside. Furthermore it was a pity that the previous guests did not clean the BBQ at all, allthough the hosts explicitely pointed out in their 'house rules' that everyone should clean it after use. Nevertheless we really enjoyed our BBQ!!
Thank you for your review. We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay. It's nice to hear about all the things you liked at La Jouanade and what you liked most in the surrounding area.
We will of course double check the bbq is cleaner next time!
And we like your suggestion about adding insect screens.

Canoeing at Najac is fun with a few more rapids. There is also a lake 15 mins away where you can do sailing, swimming and fishing.
