Bungalow with direct view over Hornsea Mere Quiet Location, less than a mile from Hornsea Town Centre, superstore about 1/2 mile away.

"Anchorage"can be booked from Saturday to Saturday or for a shorter stay with a minimum stay of 4 nights. It is a 2 bedded bungalow less than a mile from the town of Hornsea. It has stunning views over Hornsea Mere, the largest "lake" in Yorkshire. Large supermarket and petrol station within a half mile. The property has a secluded private garden and off road parking for 2 vehicles. There are 2 lounging areas, one overlooking the Mere the second facing the garden,each with a TV. "Anchorage" welcomes small dogs and their caring owners (There is a small surcharge and we would ask you to contact us before booking to discuss this). As boat enthusiasts for over 30 years we enjoy outdoor living. We appreciate the use of shared space on board and the need at times for your "own" space.

We built this into our layout, which we hope has an easy flow from inside to outside living.

Why Odette Smyth chose Hornsea

We bought the bungalow because of the views over Hornsea Mere, the largest "lake" in Yorkshire. Hornsea is within easy walking distance of "Anchorage" on level footpaths.

The town has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and is served by numerous restaurants, eateries and public houses.

There is a variety of shops, including a large supermarket which is about a half mile away, together with one of the largest open markets in Yorkshire at Skirlington, a 10 minute drive away.

What makes this bungalow unique

The sunsets over the Mere are stunning and "Anchorage" is tranquil enough to enjoy the bird life.

Hornsea has a Blue Pennant beach and is connected to a number of walking and cycling tracks.

We have a lockable shed for cycles and off road parking for 2 vehicles.

We welcome small dogs and their caring owners.

There is furniture in the enclosed garden for alfresco dining and enjoying the sun.

Outside: There is patio directly outside the kitchen-dining room with outdoor furniture for alfresco dining or enjoying the enclosed garden and the sun. The garden is lawned and a lockable cycle shed in situated here. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Clean linen, towels, tea cloths provided. Property cleaned and linen,towels changed at turn round. Other: Kitchen-dining room linking to conservatory with additional seating overlooking the enclosed garden.

Wonderful Stay

Stayed here for four days wanting a nice relaxing break after the madness of Christmas & that's exactly what we got. Although we never saw anyone during our stay we were still made to feel welcome with a lovely bottle of Bucks Fizz & a packet of biscuits being left for us for when we arrived. There was everything we could possibly need during our stay - fresh bath towels, hand towels & tea towels, loo roll, tea, coffee, washing up liquid & hand soap in both bathrooms, the attention to detail with regards to catering to your needs was second to none!

There was a nice size garden which I can imagine is lovely to sit out in in the summer, but unfortunately during our stay the weather wasn't very kind to us so it remained out of bounds.

I will most certainly be recommending this place to family & friends as we felt it was a lovely place to stay & was very comfortable & roomy, it felt like a proper home from home - would we stay here again??? Most definitely YES!!!!!

Only really got one gripe & it's a tiny one - if your not familiar with the keypad master lock (not really sure what its proper name is) it can be a bit baffling trying to work out how to retrieve the key - especially in the dark!! For the less knowledgeable like us clearer more detailed instructions would come in useful.

Hope to return here again and sooner rather than later - LOVED IT :-)

Very Comfortable

We found Anchorage very comfortable and had everything we could need.

I would definitely recommend this bungalow.

Lovely walks around the mere and also the surrounding area. Access to the old Hornsea to Hull railway track is nearby and a pleasant easy walk.

Beautiful and well cared for.

Magnificent views of the Mere and wildlife. Dog friendly although my 2 cairn terriers found an escape route. Handy for the supermarket.Cant praise it enough.We will be booking this again.

Enjoyable Stay

We enjoyed our stay, the bungalow was clean and had everything we needed. Good views over the mere with a walk across the the fields from just across the road. Also a Tesco store nearby ideal when self catering. Would recommend and would stay here again if in the area

Home from home.... but with a view

Well equipped and set out. Space for all 4 people to be together and yet enough room to have private space too, especially where choice of radio, music or t.v. are concerned. Kitchen and dining area well layed out with ample storage space.

Bedrooms have plenty of storage space and the beds are very comfortable. The bathroom and en suite makes life easier with 4 adults sharing the house.

Pleasant garden for alfresco dining or just sitting to enjoy the summer sun.

We will be going back next year .

Perfect location facing Mere.

Enjoyable week, blessed with fine weather. With Tesco close by and the town a few minutes further, everything was on available. We missed having WiFi although being able to take our little pooch made up for this.

The Blue Pennant beach at Hornsea is about a mile away.


Shops and town centre are with 20 minutes level walking. Car travel would be essential for places and attractions outside of Hornsea.


Hornsea is about 3/4 mile away. Nearest supermarket and petrol station less than 1/2mile. Historic town of Beverley is 12 miles, Bridlington and Hull are about 3/4 hour drive. York about 1 1/4 hours drive.
