The Higgins lodge is a cozy, but very spacious home, perfect for up to 10-ish people. Close to various surfing spots and equipped with a nice game room including a pool and table tennis table.
We had excellent directions to the property, easy to find and close to beach for surfing, which was a surprise!! (Surf School at Beach Bar/Aughris Head) The house and all /bedrooms were spacious, such a treat to have ensuite in every room. We enjoyed using the games room. My daughter loved meeting the friendly dogs everyday!
We drove to Killala's harbour in Co Mayo and bought fish from the fish shop there, really fresh and tasted fab for dinner that night. Eagles Flying was only half an hour away, we would highly recommend a visit there.
We have recommended this place to friends. However, it is more likely we will return with them to stay at Nature's Rest next year!!
PS Easkey Beach not far away, good spot to watch the pros surf!
We stayed here with a group of friends and were really pleasantly surprised on arrival. The owners are friendly and very helpful whilst also giving you space and privacy. The house has loads of room and is very spacious, the views are just beautiful - either looking out over the ocean or to the fields and hills behind with the cattle grazing. We really loved staying on a working farm watching the milking and being surrounded by farmland and animals. Local shop and pubs are just a couple of miles drive and lots of good beaches for walking. A great location for runners with lots of small roads along the coastline. This house is really good value for money surrounded by beauty with lots to explore if you have a car.
Special interest holidays:
As we are a working dairy farm, guests often enjoy watching the cows being milked and feeding baby calves in the Springtime. We are very energy conscious and have our own 15Kw wind turbine and solar panels. The owner can give those interested a tour of the above. We have an old castle on our land, in which the steps to the second floor goes up within the exterior wall. Guests are welcome to have a look.
