Elmar is a large four hundred year old period cottage complete with a massive Inglenook fireplace and bread oven situated in a quiet village location tucked away next to the ancient parish church just a mile away from the sea. The cottage comfortably sleeps four guests in two bedrooms. The bedrooms have just been renovated to expose stone and cob walls and a delightful ancient fireplace in the main bedroom Its character features, wood burning stove and quiet location make it an ideal romantic retreat for couples, including those who want to bring their dog away with them.Perfect for families in the school holidays as well. Two pubs, two restaurants and a general store/Post Office compliment the village. Cubert is well located with easy access to Crantock beach, Polly Joke and Holywell Bay. The attractions of the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Lands End are easily reached by car as are the famous fishing villages up and down the coast. The surf capital of Britain, Newquay, is only five miles away with its world famous facilities. Cubert however is more suited to those seeking a more tranquil family holiday with very pretty walks to the beaches including Polly Joke which has recently been voted one of Britain’s best secret beaches. Locally there are two pubs in the village including the picturesque Smugglers Den Inn, a delightful 16th Century Thatched Inn a restaurant and organic bakery. . The Three local beaches are all within walkable distance of the cottage. Holywell Bay and Crantock Beach offer vast sandy bays with dunes, rock pools and caves to explore. In between is the gem that is Polly Joke, a gloriously natural beach surrounded by nothing more than National Trust headlands with a beautiful rugged coastline. For walkers, join the South West coastal path which meanders through the three local beaches before rising up the magnificent headlands on its spectacular journey on this section of the coast. About Steve Franklin
We bought the cottage having spent many happy family holidays in the area. Recently we have fully renovated the cottage exposing a massive Inglenook fireplace complete with a bread oven and have installed a new Wood burning stove.
Steve Franklin purchased this Cottage in 2008
Why Steve Franklin chose Cubert
The cottage is a second home rather than a commercial let so you will find more home comforts such as good books to read, board games and local walking guides to compliment the character accommodation.

We have just left Elma and have had a fantastic week. The cottage is lovely, it has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The location is superb - simply great!
Thanks Debbie for your kind words. You are most welcome to return at any time to enjoy the cottage again.

The most quintessential English country cottage, complete with all mod cons. Great location and the village has everything you need if you don’t want to get in the car. Every room in the cottage is really comfy, beds and duvets plus settees. Bathroom and shower also fab with air cupboard to dry anything as needed. Kitchen fully equipped and the outside space is brill to enjoy and evening bbq. Lovely also to have no internet. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

We had a lovely stay at Elmar. The cottage is in s great location with beaches, pubs and shops only a short distance away. In fact all a walk away! It was clean and bright and well maintained and the log burner was just perfect. Would definitely return and recommend to others 😀
Very comfortable cozy cottage.
All that we needed for a long weekend in blustery weather with our teenage son and dog. Well kept cozy cottage, woodburner. Great dog walk to beach. Handy local store. Lovely pub with food, over the field.
Decent and cosy property with all the essentials you need within a short walk
Clean and comfortable
The 3 local beaches are all walkable from the cottage with the closest a mile away. Holywell Bay offers a huge sandy bay with dunes, Polly Joke a delightful natural beach and Crantock Beach offering rock pools and dunes. All three beaches are great for surfing and fishing.
There is a train station at Newquay for local trips. Truro station is some 12 miles away offering a direct service to London and Scotland. Newquay airport offers seasonal flights.
Good local bus and taxi services.
The cottage welcomes well behaved pets and is ideal for families or couples seeking character accommodation in a quiet location close to some of the most
picturesque coastal scenery in the country.
