Old town house in Kalkan, Mediterranean Region, Turkey. - Within 2 Minutes Lazy Stroll Of The Harbour, Beach And Restaurants
The fabulous Ivy House is a First Degree listed property, fully renovated in 2006 by a renown local developer. The house is built in traditional stone with a modern interior, the thick stone walls helping to keep rooms cool during the summer and retaining heat in the cooler months.
The Ivy House is situated in the heart of the old town and is thought to be around 100 years old on the exterior, a grape vine twists it's way up the front of the house resting on the roof top pergola to give shade when required during the long lazy days in the sun.
The house is full of character, from the beautiful ottoman style balconies, to the cosy and welcoming interior. Accommodation wise, there is a large lounge/kitchen/diner (with it's own fireplace!) as you enter the property, with a shower room/WC on the same level. The 2 good size double bedrooms are located on the lower ground floor, making them nice and cool during the hotter high season months, along with a good size shower room with WC. The lovely roof terrace is up two short flights of stairs from the lounge area - and it is here that no doubt you will spend much of your time whilst At Ivy House, eating and drinking under the shade of the ivy covered pergola, or lazing on the comfortable sunbeds and sun shades provided.
The property is situated within 2 Minutes lazy stroll of the harbour, beach & Kalkan's fantastic choice of first class restaurants in and around the Old Town. It boats some of the best eateries in Turkey, and regardless of budget you will find it hard to be disappointed with any of them. Kalkan is a cosmopolitan destination that retains its character year after year.
Kalkan is a great base for exploring the ancient cities in the Lycian area as well as having access to water sports, para gliding and river canoeing.A great place to do nothing or a lot, it's up to you!
For history lovers the ancient Lycian sites of Tlos, Patara, Kekova, Xanthos, Pinara and Simena are all nearby. For excitement and fun,Saklient gorge is a must do! At least once and rafting and mud baths are optional, water sports for everyone and paragliding for the strong of heart. Sun lovers can just while away the hours at Patara, Kalkan beach or beach clubs, on a great roof terrace or a day on the many gastronomic boat trips.

About Tim Hughes
We have been married for 29 years and have a 24 year old Daughter, living in East Yorkshire for the past 16 years we fell in love with Kalkan when our friends recommended a visit in 2000, 26 visits later we bought The Ivy House. We are about to start our fourth year and it's been pretty amazing, 5 star reviews and great feedback all the way. We hope you will love it as much as we do.
Tim Hughes purchased this House in 2014
Why Tim Hughes chose Kalkan
We purchased The Ivy House in 2014 after falling in love with the unique charms of Kalkan on our first visit in 2000. Our home in Kalkan has long been a dream! Now reality.
What makes this House unique
Centrally situated, no need for the long walk home or a taxi after a relaxing evening at your favourite restaurant or bar. Amazing large roof terrace with room for 4 sun beds, dining area and relaxed seating area with sea views. We have added an ice maker which gives ice in 10 mins, a washing machine and DVD player as well as installing a new privacy screen following the demise of the rather large beautiful but very messy fig tree, we will welcome recommendations for the future.

Just returned from this lovely house right in the middle of Kalkan old town. Although in the centre still very peaceful. The house was perfect with everything needed for a very comfortable holiday, home from home. We had a truly wonderful time, and cannot recommend highly enough. Very efficient management team, would love to return sometime in the future.
Thank you, we love our home in Kalkan and feel very proud that our guests do the same.
Such a great location
Enjoyed my stay here for the 3rd year in a row. So convenient for the town centre and the beach. Would definitely recommend.
Superb house in a fantastic location
We loved the Ivy House. Everything we needed and wanted for a relaxing holiday. The location is perfect right in the old town just a short walk to the harbour and town beach but still tucked away for seclusion and peace. We loved chilling out on the roof terrace which we used for breakfast and evening drinks. The house is very tastefully decorated and is really home from home. Rubbish is collected and agents are on hand if and when needed. A really enjoyable holiday in a wonderful house.

Lovely house - great location
The house was even better than we expected . Great location – minutes from the beach and restaurants. Spacious rooms, well equipped - everything clean and well maintained with a fabulous sun terrace. Everything you could need and more, plus local back up if any problems. Would definitely use this house again , if it was available and have already recommended it to friends.
Coast/Beach: The local town beach is less than 2 minutes away and is mainly pebbly, Patara beach is 12 km of pure sand and home to nesting Loggerhead Turtles, reachable by Dolmus, taxi or car approx 10 km and Kaputas beach, reached by many steps is small but stunning at the mouth of a gorge, also 10km away. Travel: Kalkan is served mainly by Dalaman Airport which is a 1h 45min transfer by taxi or hire car, taxi transfers can be arranged from £110 return for 1 to 3 people and £140 for 4. Distances: Kalkan is situated in the Ancient Lycian region of Turkey and is near to Tlos, Patara, Xanthos and the spectacular Saklient Gorge, all of which are a must for first time visitors. Kas is 28km away and is a larger town with a mix of traditional and new! the newly built marina could rival the hotspots of the Cote Azure. For walkers the Lycian way is also a great way to explore the area. Further Details: Kalkan itself has a superb selection of shops including Gold, leather, clothing and of course carpets. There are many restaurants available ranging from Fine Dining to kebabs, we have our favourites but whichever ones you choose the food, service and ambience is generally very good. There are several local supermarkets offering a wide range of products, daily fresh bread, baklava, olives, cheeses and fresh meat. The green grocers are excellent and with a large market held on Thursdays you can pretty much buy anything you can think of, although it probably isn't always going to be the real thing! There are a few banks with cash machines and a couple of Pharmacies which can help with most medical needs.
