It was purchased as a complete ruin – no gas, mains water, no electricity, phone nor bathrooms now it has been transformed into 2 (side by side) stunning houses. The ancient and the modern. The magnificent exposed beams have been lovingly restored and now revealed in all their glory. There are 6 double bedrooms and a small study room with 2 bunks. The houses are light, bright, airy and warm ! Conservatory, kitchen diner and lounge make it truly spacious. It is suitable for the elderly and has wheelchair access. The kitchen is fitted out with two dishwashers and two fridge freezers. The house serves as either a Retreat or a Celebration house. The house is not like most gites. We like to provide almost everything that you could need for a self catering holiday. There is even a bread maker. Outside: Large (football field size) lawn /orchard area. Gazebo. Secluded and wind sheltered patio which seats 16 outside the conservatory. ''The Other End'' house has a raised decking patio with pub table.) Bedding is provided and a fee is charged for laundry/cleaning and changeover. A fee of £60 is charged for our caretaker to Meet and Greet and explain how things work. They will also be there for key hand over/change over when you leave

Lovely, cosy, rustic New Year break

We had a fantastic few days over New Year 2017/2018 in these charming country cottages. The big house is welcoming, spacious, comfortable and full of rustic charm. I especially liked the owner's furniture and the many heart-shaped items throughout the house.

There were 13 of us (3 families ranging from 9 to 76 years old) and the two houses were very well equipped for us all. Plenty bathrooms, crockery, cutlery, glasses, pots and pans etc. There were 2 fridge/freezers and 2 dishwashers in the big house alone as well as plenty seating for us all.

The house has a very cosy feel in the winter. We were all very grateful for the huge log burner in the lounge with the weather being pretty wet (plenty logs/kindling) . The location is stunning and very peaceful - just a shame we could not make more use of the outside facilities.

The owner Anita was very helpful in providing information about both the house and the area and was keen that we all had a lovely time in her house - which we did. Serin was very helpful when we arrived and is very kindly returning items we left behind to us, for which we are very grateful.

A very enjoyable few days for us all - thank you!

                                                              Perfect house for large families

                                                              Margaret K.

We had a wonderful fortnight here in this beautiful part of France with family and friends. It has all the comforts of home and the kitchen benefits from two fridge freezers and two dishwashers which is very unusual.

The owner was easily contacted and any problems or queries were answered promptly. The beds were very comfortable and we all had our own shower and loo. We can highly recommend it.

                                                              Paula B.

A group of 12 bikers stayed here and the house worked very well for us all. The bedrooms are lovely and enough bathrooms/shower rooms for one per couple which was brilliant. The kitchen is stocked with more gadgets and equipment than we could possibly use, 3 fridges, 2 dishwashers and 2 ovens. There's even a drawer full of herbs and spices!!

Both the owner and property manager are lovely people and really couldn't do enough to help.

The surrounding countryside is beautiful and the nearest town is only 6km away and sells everything you could need.

All in all a fantastic property and a brilliant holiday.

A fabulous place for a big group holiday

                                                              Toby M.

Our four families celebrated New Years 2017 at The Big House Normandy - it was great. The house coped well with our requirements, was in a beautiful location and the owner was a pleasure to deal with.

The only slight issue was the power - as it was very cold when we were there we had to use all the electric heaters available which, while using other normal appliances too, kept forcing the main electricity switch to cut out. Not a problem once we found out what was going on and I wouldn't have thought this would be a issue unless the outside temperature is -3 degrees all day (which it was while we were there).

Overall - thoroughly recommended especially for larger family groups.

                                                              A house of hearts

                                                              Johan & Lea S.

We stayed with a family of 11 and had a wonderful time. The house is very well equipped and nothing is missing. And what is even more important, really everything works! Nothing out of order. Nice and quiet location with large garden. A house of hearts.

                                                              A family holiday in France

                                                              Martin Frost

We rented the house for one week for a family holiday of 10 people, ranging from an 18 month year old toddler to a 94 year old. We needed 7 bedrooms in total and found that this house worked well - in particular the disabled room on the ground floor for the 94 year old. The large garden kept the children happy and the gazebo was a popular feature. It was even hot enough for the children to go in the paddling pool! The large dining table in the conservatory was perfect for long lunches and the kitchen table perfect for late night games of scrabble.

The area is rural and we really liked how peaceful and relaxing the setting was - however it is still close to supermarkets and local A routes allowing easy access to pretty villages and the coast.

The variety of things to do in Normandy really impressed us and we would definitely come again to see/do things we weren't able to do this week.
