Marloes, Pembrokeshire - Near Marloes Sands, Musselwick Sands, St.Bride's Haven, Dale and the Skomer Island departure point.

A spacious and comfortable 2-bed, 2-bath detached bungalow on the edge of Marloes village, set in the spectacular landscape of the Marloes peninsula in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Visit Wales 4* rating.

Suitable for limited mobility (4 steps front and back). Allergen-free - no feathers or pet-hairs, no smoking, hard flooring (rugs only). Wi-fi available. Oil central-heating and constant hot water included in the price.

One super-king ensuite bedroom and one twin, with good quality mattresses and professionally-laundered Egyptian cotton sheets. Choice of thick or thin anti-allergy duvets. Both bedrooms face out away from the village and have plenty of storage space. Two bathrooms with above-bath electric showers.Bath and hand-towels provided.

Modern, fully-equipped kitchen with breakfast bar, double electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, washing-machine, toaster and microwave. Adjoining utlity area with large fridge/freezer, iron and board. Outdoor rotary clothes-line.

Cosy sitting room with 2 large sofas, wi-fi hub, TV, DVD/BluRay player, books, games and jigsaws.

The large sunny conservatory is built onto the outside of the sitting-room and faces out away from the village. It has two more sofas and a large dining-table.

Enclosed garden with flower-beds, lawn, paving and decking for sunbathing and eating at the outside table. Sun-loungers provided. Large storage shed for bikes or toys. Off-road parking for one car, and plenty of room on the quiet cul-de-sac for more cars to park outside the house.

A file of local information is provided, with maps, bus timetables and tide-times.

Friendly village shop with Post Office and cafe. Pub with garden; church; children's play-park. Buses from the village go in three different directions along the coast, and footpaths lead out to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.

The Marloes peninsula is mainly owned by the National Trust and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path goes around the edge, with spectacular cliff scenery and stunning beaches. The mile-long Marloes Sands has been voted one of the best beaches in Wales.

Why Jane Warr chose Pembrokeshire

I bought and furnished this holiday home in July 2014. I chose the house because it is very quiet, warm and comfortable, and is easy to get around - no stairs and few steps. It is in the village of Marloes with the advantages of shop, pub, café and bus, but being on the edge of the village it looks out over hedges and fields.

Marloes is an excellent spot for a holiday home, being near fantastic beaches, wonderful cliff walks, and the island boats. There are footpaths through the fields in several directions from the village, and a coastal bus in three directions, so people can visit without needing a car.

What makes this bungalow unique

I was pleased to be awarded a high 4-star rating by the Visit Wales inspector.

"Superb bungalow in a lovely setting. Lovely bays, beaches. This would be an ideal place to stay to visit Skomer (in season), near enough for the early boat. The bungalow is really clean and tidy. Comfortable beds, big kitchen, two bathrooms and a lovely conservatory. We have really enjoyed our holiday at Marloes."

A real gem

Situated in the quiet village of Marloes and very convenient for the glorious Marloes & Musselwick beaches and coastal path made for an ideal base for walking and general exploration. Spacious, very clean, peaceful, comfortable and cosy - all I really need from a holiday base. Highly recommended.

Glebe Corner 'to stay or not to stay'?

If you are looking for negative comments you will find none here (please move on...). The house (and garden) was ideally located, spotlessly clean, extremely well equipped and very spacious - plenty of room for four adults not to be tripping over each other. The village shop/Post Office was a little treasure chest for fresh supplies. Jane was attentive without being invasive and is obviously an owner who cares enough to ensure her guests are having a carefree stay.

The information provided in the hallway, both local and wider Pembrokeshire, was also useful (as were the games on a late evening providing much hilarity with the odd glass or two.....). For those of us in the party who had never visited this wonderful part of the UK before it certainly lived up to expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would not hesitate to recommend Glebe Corner to anyone – therefore the answer to the title is, without question, STAY!!

Glebe Corner is a great place to stay

This was our second visit to Glebe Corner and we enjoyed our stay every bit as much as our first visit.

Glebe Corner is very well looked after, has everything you need, everything works and it is beautifully clean. The owner is very helpful. The garden is attractive and has lots of sun and we enjoyed sitting out in it.

Marloes village has an excellent shop/PO and the local buses stop in the village making it easy to explore the coastal path.

Glebe Corner makes an excellent base for enjoying the beautiful Marloes Beach, taking the boat to Skomer Island to see the puffins and for walking the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastal path. We also met the friendly and knowledgeable Pembrokeshire birders at a twitch for a white winged black tern.

Two restaurants in nearby Dale serve locally caught fish and we had good meals in them both.

This part of Pembrokshire as well as being stunningly beautiful is also relatively off the beaten tourist track and is wonderfully uncrowded, we walked for miles along the coastal path and would see less than half a dozen people.

We are already looking forward to our next visit to the fab Glebe Corner.

Just about perfect holiday home

It's actually quite difficult to write a considered review of this property - in most reviews there are pluses and minuses to balance, but in this case there weren't any minuses. We stayed there as a couple, a second couple wouldn't have found the place at all cluttered. The house was spotlessly clean, while the bed in the main bedroom is definitively a queen bed (and very comfortable). The kitchen is very well equipped, the living room very comfortable (if you want to bring any of your own movies etc to watch, the advertised DVD player is actually Blu-Ray as well), but the best part is the large, warm and very sunny conservatory, where we lived for much of the time. There's a very pleasant outdoor area (though a little cold for us to spend too much time in).

As for the surrounding area, you really can't do much better. The coastal path was glorious with a superb array of pinks, yellows, whites and blues to complement the rocks and sea. You're 15 minutes walk from the nearest beach (Marloes Sands is probably about 25 minutes walk but also an easy drive. Don't overlook the excellent bus service which can whisk you up the coast if you fancy doing walks farther afield but don't want to drive - all the information is available in the excellent folders provided in the property. Skomer is beautiful this time of year - the puffins in full flow standing outside their burrows chatting to each other...

We recommend the sublime ginger flapjacks in the local shop, and we had a very acceptable meal in the Lobster Pot (about five minutes walk).

Sometimes you can write a review and feel the need to add "well if I was being really picky, I might suggest .......", but I can't actually think of anything lacking in this property. Unconditionally recommended.

Peaceful coastal retreat

A lovely, modern bungalow, extremely clean and well equipped. Owner lives locally and was very helpful before and during our stay. Cosy lounge and spacious conservatory overlooking varied,colourful and well maintained garden. Good location for coastal walks and bays and boat trips to Skomer. Highly recommended.

Coast/Beach:

Walk from the door to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. A 15-minute walk to the nearest sandy beach, Musselwick Sands. A 5-minute drive or 15-minute walk to Marloes Sands car-park, from where a smooth path goes down to the beach - a spectacular, long, sandy beach backed by cliffs. A 10-minute drive to busy Dale for kayaking, sailing, surfing, windsurfing and restaurants. A 10-minute drive to St.Bride's Beach - a small sandy cove great for rockpools and children, with car-park and WC very close.

Travel:

Marloes is half an hour's drive from Haverfordwest, on the A40 west of Carmarthen. A car is useful but not essential - there are stations at Haverfordwest and Milford Haven, from where a taxi or the coastal bus can take you to Marloes. You can walk from the village through the fields to the cliffs and beaches in several directions. There is a coastal bus starting in the village and going along the coast in three directions.

Further Details:

Marloes village has a pub, small shop, church and café.

Water-sports are available in Dale (10 mins drive or bus), where you can have lessons or hire kayaks, windsurfers and sailing dinghies. More water-sports are available at Broadhaven and Newgale, further north along the coast.

There is good birdwatching nearby at Marloes Mere, Dale Pools, and Marloes Deer Park, from where seals can often be seen. Boats leave Martin's Haven (5 mins drive) to go to Skomer and Grassholm Islands and on round-island boat-trips.
