No. 5 Searock is a 2nd floor, 2 bedroom apartment. It has an open plan kitchen, dining and living area, which is well equipped and includes a dishwasher. It has a South West facing balcony with table & seats to relax with a drink or snack while enjoying the sea views and watching the world go by. Opposite the apartments is a beautifully maintained communal area, that has a 'Crazy Golf'’ course, an open ‘Green’, a promenade and a beach. It is a short walk from a lovely harbour, an historical street, cliff walks and dramatic scenery.

About Leanne Weekes

We are Darren and Leanne Weekes and we live in Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire with our 2 children. We fell in love with Ilfracombe and the rest of North Devon in 2007 when we came on holiday here with our 2 girls. We genuinely believe Ilfracombe is the nicest town in Devon and we are amazed every time we come here just how much one small seaside town has to offer. We also think that the restaurants offer some of the nicest food around and the people are so lovely and welcoming.

We bought No. 5 Searock in March 2014. We had been searching for our perfect holiday ‘bolt hole’ for over a year. The apartment needed a bit of refurbishment, which was completed in July 2014.

Situated on the sea front and close to the harbour, beaches and town, our apartment has everything you need for a really enjoyable holiday or short break. Despite the amazing food the restaurants have to offer, our apartment is fully equipped for you to enjoy easy, 'home from home' living. The South West facing balcony captures the sun all day long and offers a perfect place to take in the scenes and sunsets and to 'chill out' after a long day sight-seeing, surfing or ‘hanging out’ in North Devon. The apartment suits families, couples and friends who can do as much or as little as they like.

Notes on accommodation: Sorry we do not allow pets and the whole building is non smoking (even on the balconies). Although there is one free parking space allocated to Searock No. 5, to the side of the building we cannot guarantee that it will be free for our holiday guests. Parking is available in the nearby Long & Short stay car parks and a very reasonably priced Permit can be purchased directly from The Tourist Information Centre (at the Landmark Theatre) beforehand by calling 01271 863001 or on arrival. Currently, a Long stay parking permit for 1 week is only £20.80 and can be used in all long stay car parks in North Devon, which is well worth purchasing for a week’s holiday. Outside: The apartment has a South West facing balcony that gets the sun all day long. It has a table & seats to relax with a drink or snack while enjoying the sea views and watching the world go by. Utility Room: Communal Utility Room across the hall from the apartment has washing/dryer machine and an ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All tea towels, hand towels and bath towels are provided. Please provide your own beach towels. Please note that there is no maid service provided. The apartment is thoroughly cleaned inbetween each booking. Other: Dining area has a table with seating for 4.

Lovely apartment, fabulous views

Stayed at no. 5 over the Easter weekend. Naomi, the housekeeper was very helpful and accommodating letting us collect keys in the morning, rather than waiting until 3pm. The apartment was lovely, fantastic sea views and equipped with everything we needed. Enjoyed sitting on the balcony with a glass or 2 watching the world pass below, then venturing inside to continue people watching for the window seats. Gorgeous sunsets from the balcony too. Visited many of the local attractions whilst there - Woolacombe, Westward Ho!, Barnstaple, Lynton and Lynmouth, the sculpture Trail at Broomhill. Purchased the Treasure Trail for Ilfracombe and spent a wonderful couple of hours exploring Ilfracombe finding clues (can buy online or from Tourist Info centre). Have to recommend Riks take-away for burgers - they're delicious. Only real issue was the parking, the manager from the Italian restaurant seems to monopolise the parking space allocated for no. 5, so spent a lot more on parking than we'd have liked. Overall a really lovely family break over Easter - highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Sounds like you really enjoyed your stay and managed to pack a lot in. We love to people watch on the balcony too and it seems to get the sun all day! We are sorry you couldn't always park in the allocated space. Unfortunately this is something we don't really have any control over, which is why I try to explain the situation to all of our guests. I do hope that you choose to come and stay at Searock again if you are ever to return to Ilfracombe and thank you for such a good review.

Lovely clean, airy flat with sea views

Had a great stay at this perfectly located flat. Lovely view of the sea, simple and clean decor. Great use of kitchen space. Good location for restaurants and pubs.

Comfortable,well equipped,bright and clean.

Despite all of us being struck down by a nasty flu virus we still managed to enjoy our stay due to the flat being so comfortable and homely. We stayed in a lot lounging on the comfortable sofas and watching tv. When we did go out and enjoy Ilfracombe it was nice to return to a warm and relaxing base. Really hoping to stay here again in the future as it was pefect for a family of four (2 adults and 2 thirteen year old boys).

Great location & lovely views

It's centrally located, close to pubs and restaurants, and short stroll to the supermarket if needed. Very nicely presented and in good condition, with all those useful bits and bobs you need included (wine glasses & bottle opener :) Didn't have any noise problems, and no issues with parking out of the main season, suitable car parks very close by if space not free. Loved the balcony view too, great to unwind there with an easy supper after busy day scuba diving at lundy. On the admin side all the useful and necessary info was provided in good time and messages responded to promptly, which is also great, as no phaffing about worrying about keys and such. We will defo be back, although we'd struggle to better the weather we had in October, we love this area a lot. Thanks.

Coast/Beach:

Searock apartments are 500m from the nearest beach and a 5 minute stroll from the famous and beautiful harbour. It is just a 15 minute walk from nearby coves and the amazing Tunnels Beaches. The famous sandy surfing beaches of Woolacombe and Croyde are a 20 minute drive away.

Wonderful cliff top walks, dramatic beach coves and quaint villages are just minutes away (including walks and cycling on the Tarka trail).

Travel:

The apartment block is at the end of Wilder Road (on the seafront), located between the church and the Wetherspoon's pub. It is directly across the road from the crazy golf course.

The National Express runs a coach service directly to Ilfracombe. The bus station is a 3 minute walk away from the apartments.

The nearest train station is in Barnstaple and buses run regularly between Barnstable and Ilfracombe.

Combe Martin - 5.5 miles, Woolacombe - 6 miles, Croyde Bay - 9.5 miles, Barnstaple (with its famous Pannier Market and Butchers Row) – 12 miles, Lynton and Lynmouth (with cliff top railway) – 18.5 miles, Appledore – 23 miles, Clovelly – 33 miles, Hartland – 35 miles.

A short drive away is Exmoor National Park.

Further Details:

Ilfracombe has a wealth of activities and attractions for all the family. Directly outside the apartment block is a Crazy Golf course, a “Green” with Bouncy Castles in the Summer months, a lovely promenade, Capstone Hill (with breathtaking views from the top), The Landmark Theatre (with a Tourist Information Office with full details of all activities on a week by week basis), cafes, restaurants and pubs, including the brand new Wetherspoons pub.

At the harbour there is an award winning Aquarium, Old Lifeboat House, 14th Century Lighthouse and Chapel, pubs, restaurants, shops and regular boat and fishing trips, including trips across to Lundy Island. Also, there is the famous Damian Hurst’ statue “Verity”.

The Victorian Tunnel Beaches (with a great cafe with children’s play area and free wi-fi) is a great place for the kids and family members of all ages. Emmanuel Church opposite the museum, holds regular art exhibitions.

A short walk up the hill is the fascinating and historical Fore Street with its 'hotchpotch' of cottages, inns, warehouses & workshops dating back to the middle ages. One of the original buildings is the George & Dragon tavern dating back to 1360. Fore Street is still a centre for 'meeting & eating' with quality restaurants, bistros, bars, pubs & cafes.

The town centre dates from the 19th century with traditional greengrocers, butchers & bakers, handed down through generations. On the High Street is the award winning chocolate museum at Walker's Chocolate Emporium with its cafe and shop.

Larkstone Cafe and Leisure Park offers a children’s play area, lawn games such as Bowls, Croquet, Tennis and Putting, or a 9 hole Pitch and Putt course with breathtaking views of the Harbour and Seafront.

Lidl supermarket is within walking distance of the apartment, just past the Landmark Theatre. There are many shops on the High Street, such as Co-op, Superdrug, local Butchers and Hardware stores. Tesco supermarket is approximately 2 miles away.
