About Judy Staples
Judy Staples We are a family of 5 with 3 daughters. We have always holidayed in the Lakes and Cornwall introducing our girls to the sea, surfing, lakes and Beatrix Potter!
Judy Staples purchased this House in 2014
Why Judy Staples chose Grange-over-Sands
We have recently been lucky enough to buy Ford House after it came back unexpectedly on the market. It was already perfectly set up as a luxury holiday home catering for large groups with unique charm and features. As a family we often visit the Lake District and both my husband and I were brought up holidaying here as children.I particularly spent a lot of time in Grange over Sands with a day trip to Cartmel as an annual treat. The Lakes have a magical quality for me and I always feel I've escaped when there. Cartmel has so much more to offer these days and is a stepping stone to the many lakes and fells.
What makes this House unique
Ford House is right in the heart of the village, in The Square. We have immediate access to many eateries or a variety of artisan shops for a meal at home. To be so close to the racecourse is exciting on those meet days and you can take picturesque walks without getting in the car. All the bedrooms are attractive and spacious and no one feels they have second best. The garden is a lovely sun trap and the sitting room a cosy haven.

Return Visit
We have just returned from our 2nd visit to ford house and our experience was just as wonderful as last year. Judy is so efficient & prompt at replying to any queries and the booking process is so so easy. What do we say about the house....it is wonderful. My daughter said she felt her whole body relax as she came through the door! There is plenty of space, the kitchen has everything you need with no expense spared. There is a spacious, enclosed garden perfect for our dogs and a lovely seating area. All of the bedrooms & bathrooms are luxurious with plenty of space. Its the personal touches that have gone into the house that make it very special & it so feels like like a 'home from home' relaxing & cosy. Perfect for family gatherings or celebrations and we hope to return very soonx
Lovely to welcome you all back. You always take such pleasure from your stay and look after Ford House so well.
We hope for more return visits. Many thanks.
Wonderful house in perfect village location
This was our third holiday in Ford House with a family party of 8 adults and this time with two young grandsons. Unlike many larger properties where at least one bedroom is a box FH has five large double or twin bedrooms so no one in the party ends up with bedroom envy! Three bathrooms also help everyone to be ready to start the day on time. The house is well equipped throughout and the photographs are an accurate representation of the reality. The location in the village square is perfect with everything in the village including L'Enclume and the Priory just a short stroll away. For real ale lovers the two pubs on either side of the house are a bonus with two more plus Unsworth's Yard Brewery (and bar) close by.
Judy was prompt to deal with any contact and was extremely helpful throughout. As you might expect from the above we highly recommend Ford House.
Thank you for returning to Ford House.
We are glad it continues to delight and provide everything you need for a great family/group holiday.
Fabulous location, delightful property with thoughtful details.
We have had a lovely holiday and recommend it for a group of family or friends. Going to Cartmel Races added to the fun and having pubs and posh dining on the doorstep is just perfect. Ford House is a delight!
Lovely house with all the facilities needed
Lovely house with lovely furnishings .Location in the village was great but unfortunately our party contained my father and he didn't cope very well with the loud noise until midnight from the pub next door.Sunday night was great as there was no live music on at the pub.Would definitely stay again but not with my parents!
We are glad you enjoyed your stay and the house. It is always a pleasure to hear of people loving the interior and many facilities.
We are sorry the pub was noisy on that night. The location in the heart of such a special village is perfect but can occasionally be a disadvantage for some.
Ideal.
Ford House is an ideal place to stay with friends and family. The house offers everything and a bit more of what you would have at home.
Eight of us stayed for a long weekend of walking and eating and drinking all available around and in Cartmel, beautiful place. Judy was very informative when booking Ford House. I would definitely recommend Ford House as a lovely place to stay.
We ate out in the Kings Arms on the Saturday night, which was extremely busy and therefore the food unfortunately wasn't that good, it was served not very hot and rushed, but it did not spoil our time in Cartmel.
Thank you for your kind review. It is always great to hear that people enjoy the many features and amenities we keep adding. We always aim to reply quickly to any communication and help with anything which will make your stay go well.
We hope to welcome you back soon.
Amazing weekend
A group of 8 of us came to stay for my husbands 40th weekend as we were off to L'enclume... we couldn't have asked for a better house. Right in the middle of beautiful Cartmel (like a village out of a Richard Curtis film) stands the house - situated between 2 old country pubs (both with log fires) and almost opposite the Cartmel Village Shop (home to the sticky toffee pudding no less).
Organising the rental with Judy was super easy and she sent us everything we needed to know well in advance.
Directions to the cottage were great - parking a slight issue right in the center but again (as Judy's notes say) we found spots just outside - plus a lovely walk to and from.
The house had everything we could need - it was super cosy, especially when we had the log fire on in the evening sat round with a glass of wine & eating cheese (excellent cheese shop just round the corner).
All bedrooms as advertised - VERY comfy beds and good quality white linen. The whole house was very clean.
Kitchen was fantastic with very nice appliances.
Would very much recommend L'enclume (just round the corner) for a real TREAT of a meal / experience - but also Rogan & Co - was fantastic too!
Buy your provisions from the spar shop on the outskirts of the village (inc stocking up on plenty of fire wood) - then for more yummy bits - the Cartmel Village Shop in the square (I bought 5 different puddings as presents too).
All in all - perfect weekend. Really hope we manage to get up to Cartmel again.
Thank you!
What a perfect birthday weekend. You sampled all the delights which Cartmel has to offer and we are so glad that you found Ford House to be just what you wanted
