About Richard

We are a British family and live in Winchester, Hampshire. Both my Wife and I work in London. We have three daughters aged 16, 14 and 10. We have traveled through most of Europe and further afield but fell in love with Piedmont, Italy in 2007. We bought the house not for property income but as our second home. We spend as much time as we can there throughout the glorious four seasons of Piedmont. We have restored and furnished the house with all of the luxuries that one would hope and expect for in a home. We rent the house on a restricted basis and hope that you will share our love of Piedmont and Casa Annunziata.

Richard purchased this house in 2007

Why Richard chose Cuneo

Piedmont is referred to as Tuscany without the tourists. This is so true. Piedmont is relaxing, beautiful, it has four real seasons and some of the best produce, dining and wines in the World. The local people are friendly and embrace visitors (they appreciate any attempt made by foreigners to speak any Italian!).

What makes this house unique

We tend to just relax when we visit the house. We love to be there on our own as a family, and also to fill the house with friends (and have the occasional party!). There are literally hundreds of little restaurants, markets and villages to explore and the local Countryside is fantastic for walking, road biking and mountain biking. There are lots of vineyards, wine tastings, markets and festas. Being so close to a small village that has a restaurant, a tiny fresh pasta shop which supplies most of the restaurants in Cuneo, deli and small bar is difficult to find for small Italian villages.

A hidden oasis

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with family and friends in June 2016. The house is exactly as pictured. This was my first time using Owners Direct and I was a little hesitant about using a new site, but I'm so glad I did because this was a wonderful place away from the crowds - perfectly relaxing. We stayed for 4 nights but wished we had a week here. The house has wonderful furniture with many places to sit and rest and enjoy the serenity. We thoroughly enjoyed a lovely meal cooked by Ann and Joseph (an absolute must and one of the highlites of the entire trip!). They are wonderful hosts, generous in spirit and talented chefs who absolutely paid tribute to the local ingredients. We are big food lovers and we thoroughly enjoyed the long lunch provided. We also participated in a bike riding adventure with some contacts provided by Richard and that was a lovely excursion also (a word of warning - the area is quite hilly so I would recommend the electric bikes unless you have a high level of fitness). The electric bikes meant everyone could participate and we had a lovely day riding amongst the stunning hills. This was also my first time in piedmonte but hopefully not the last - the drive around this town was stunning in every direction. The patchwork vinyards are a real treat for the eyes. The small pasta shop in town looked amazing however we had stocked up with ample supplies from another supermarket approx. 50 minutes away and so we cooked up feasts every night and did not eat out through our time here. The kitchen had every utensil needed to create a feast. I would suggest if you wish to cook - to buy most things from a larger supermarket as the supermarket in town is a little small with basic products only and not much in the way of fresh meat (other than deli meats). The overall experience at casa anunziata was an absolute pleasure and we would definitely return if timing permitted. What an absolute joy - sipping a cup of tea on the deck chairs looking out into the hills - such a pleasant relaxing stay. Do yourself a favour and book this place for some much needed r and r! Although I hope its not too popular next time I try to make a booking as I don't want to miss out on another opportunity to stay at this wonderful place!

Perfect Piedmont!

  • 5 of 5

We had the most fantastic week at Casa Annunziata. Booking and liaising was easy and hassle free. We were sent so much information about local markets, places to eat, shop, visit etc. It's the most gorgeous area - very peaceful and the villa setting is super. The pool is a definite highlight, perfect for a dip after baking in the sun. The villa itself is pretty big with plenty of space for everyone, rooms are lovely, kitchen was gorgeous too and lots of outside spaces for eating, sitting and sunbathing. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and family. It's perfectly situated quite high up in the hills, and near to the small village of Castino, only 8 kilometres from Alba so there's plenty of options for shopping. We also visited lots of smaller towns and villages nearby and would recommend doing a tour of Ca' del bail Winery nearby. All in all a great holiday. My final top tip is to have Ann and Joseph come round and cook you a Piedmontese feast!! It was fabulous, we vacated the kitchen at 11.30am and at 1pm we were served a delicious and seemingly endless feast of tradition Piedmontese fare. Was scrumptious and we didn't have to clear up at all, the kitchen was left spotless! Anna and Joseph look after the property and were charming. Thank you for having us!!

Perfekte Villa

  • 5 of 5

Vielen Dank Richard!

Just Stunning in every aspect!

  • 5 of 5

What a delight. Set in a fantastic location with stunning views this was a wondersful place to relax and unwind. The rooms are spacious with the lounge giving a wonderful upstairs living feel. Outdoor eating is wonderful with the elevated position of this fab house giving a cooling breeze- just perfect with a glass of the excellent local wine. The pool is fabulous as is the garden. Local shops and restaurants in the nearby village really authentic and reasonable.

I think it was one of the most perfect holidays.
