Hillcrest Park is our rural, 6 acre, holiday location in the northernmost of the Yorkshire Dales, Teesdale. Surrounded by farmland, it offers peace, tranquillity and beautiful views of Teesdale – yet is only 10mins from the A66. It is ideal for walkers, cyclists and dog owners (we have a dog walking field onsite) and is close to Richmond, Barnard Castle, High Force Waterfall, Raby Castle and a host of other Dales attractions.
Hillcrest was once a working farm, but the outbuildings have been converted into Holiday Cottages and part of the site is now provided with electric hook up points for Touring Caravans. And, for those who want all the pleasure of camping and outdoorsiness, but without the hassle of wet tents on a windy day, we also have ten timber Camping Pods. Most importantly, we aim to offer all our guests a comfortable, get-away-from-it all, rural retreat. Wi-Fi is available on site.
A Camping Pod provides a camping experience, but in just a bit more comfort. It is an empty space with lights, heater and electric socket. There is timber decking providing somewhere to sun-bathe, prepare food or hang your wet gear. The window and lockable French doors are double glazed and the Cumbrian sheep's wool insulation and fitted heater means that the Pod really is a year-round option. It sleeps 2 adults and 3 children.
There is a kitchen facility in the amenity building, with kettles, toasters, microwaves and hotplates. We have free showers, hairdryer, hot water for dishwashing plus a coin operated laundry. Wi-Fi is available on site.
We (Ed and Kate) have been at Hillcrest Park since March 2011, and have been delighted that many of our visitors return again and again. Ed's local knowledge is pretty comprehensive and we enjoy welcoming people to this beautiful area and providing a peaceful base for them to explore Teesdale and the surrounding Dales.
We live on site and are on hand to help out our guests with anything they may need, but also happy to leave guests to enjoy their break in peace.
Kate Nichols purchased this cabin in 2011
Staying in a Camping Pod is a camping experience, only much easier! There is a heater, light and electric inside - but no bed. You'll need to bring all your camping kit - apart from the tent! There is a kitchen facility in the amenity building, with hotplates, microwaves, kettles, toasters and a fridge.
