About Ken

We live in hot dusty Texas but always dreaming of living in Kauai! Here we are below Wailua Falls - a must see while you visit!

Ken purchased this townhome in 2009

Why Ken chose Kauai

We fell in love with the Kauai North Shore, Puamana is the perfect spot to enjoy the convenience of Princeville yet still have the peace and tranquility we seek when at Kauai

What makes this townhome unique

Beautiful setting for this peaceful 1 story townhouse end unit, with convenient close by parking and no stairs! Short walking distance to fine dining at the Westin Resort, short walk down the Queens path to very quiet Anini Beach, pleasant walk to Sealodge and Hideaways beaches and the St. Regis Resort. Very short drive to all the beautiful spots of North Shore including Secret Beach, Hanalei town and bay, Lumahai Beach, Tunnels Beach, Ke'e Beach, Kalalau Trail and the Napali Coast.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed for 8 nights in the condo with my wife, her sister and her husband and found it to be very comfortable with all the amenities that a person would need. The condo was very clean and the fact that it had a washer and dryer was very helpful. The location was good as it was an end unit, we especially like the single story with no stairs to climb. It was convienent to a lot of the beaches on the north end of the island. The owners were very informative and answered all our questions that we had before arriving to the island. We would recommend this condo to anyone traveling with their spouse, friends and couples.

Great experience!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Ken and Chloe's place was everything we hoped it would be. They were gracious hosts, their townhouse had everything and more to enjoy ourselves, and they were very proactive in informing us of everything concerning their home and in suggestions for things to do and places to go in the area. Would highly recommend their home as a convenient place to stay for a family or couples. My only comment is that we didn't have enough time to spend there - we could have spent another week exploring the area, so we will definitely be back.

Not quite a 5 star stay for us

  • 3 of 5

The owners were great to work with and correspond with and the deposit was returned promptly. I also should say the price was great. We had a few issues that warranted the rating and the owners were notified while we were there. The dishwasher had not been emptied and quite a few of the dishes had to be hand washed because they were still dirty. The washer had linens in it and the dryer had wet blankets in it. We took care of these things the housekeeper did not. The kitchen is full of everything you could want but there were no paper towels which we provided; not a big deal. The knives could be a little sharper. There is a great breeze through the unit with its positioning and it was very comfortable temperature wise.

There was quite a large "dust ball" immediately noticeable upon entering so don't know how it was missed. The portable fans had blades that were covered with dust. The window frames/screens had not seen a cleaning in a long, long time. I understand it is Hawaii and the windows are open almost all the time but couldn't someone clean the tracks out? The screen door has quite a large gap at the bottom. With a sidewalk right out the front door there really is no privacy when in the living room.

It's great that it is a nonsmoking property but when the neighbors sit outside the master bedroom in the adjoining unit it's unfortunate to have to close the windows and I realize the owners have no control over this-just a note for future renters.

I have hesitated over doing this review for quite a while now but felt it is only fair to others to share our experience. And I am not typically a negative reviewer. Maybe the conditions we experienced were just an anomaly as so many other reviews were 5 star.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the feedback, we love to hear good news but it's important to us as well to hear when anything doesn't measure up to expectations so we can do a better job for you and everyone else. The housekeeping items you noted are indeed very unusual, our housekeeper is consistently conscientious and attentive to details. We've discussed your commets with her and understand she was overwhelmed by a family emergency that day and simply failed to deliver her usual quality. We apologize on her behalf for the inconvenience, and expect that will remain an isolated incident. We have also made the neighbor (new to Puamana) aware that smoking on their lanai was a problem and that smoking outside is not permitted at Puamana and subject to fines. Mahalo, Ken and Chloe

Stayed there three years and still going back

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed for three years in a row and we are sorry but we have never left a review. This place and these people are wonderful. Chloe and Ken are the perfect hosts. If you cannot get along with them, you will have a hard time getting along with anyone. The Town home is a single story and just the perfect size. The kitchen is so well equipped and the new upgrades make it a perfect place for a casual lunch or an involved dinner.

The pool is just steps away as is the Westin. The location is ideal for a walk up to the Princeville Center in the morning for newspaper, a cup of coffee and people watching.

We find the beds to be very comfortable. The baths have also both been redone. The whole place is just perfect for one or two couples or a family.

Princeville is well located to get to so many places on the island. Hanalei is close and we love to walk on that beach. You are also very close to Anini Beach that is a favorite of the locals. So many places to go and things to do.

We do have one complaint...we don't get spend enough time there.

Wonderful stay at Ken and Chloe's Puamana

  • 5 of 5

We just spent Christmas and New Years at the beautiful Kauai and we had a wonderful time.

Ken and Chloe's condo was comfortable and cozy and had everything we needed.

One of the reviewers pointed out the beds being too soft. I think Ken and Chloe changed the beds after this, however we were still quite nervous about this. At home we sleep on a very firm bed due to problematic back. When we arrived, the beds did feel pretty soft to the touch, but to our surprise we didn't have any backpain the day after or any of the days during our stay and had a great night sleep.

The location was also perfect for us - close to the supermarket and short drive to lots of beaches and hikes.

There's lots of great restaurants nearby, including the one at Westin within 5 min walking, but we preferred to always have breakfast and dinner at home - that's the way we usually like it.

We've taken the trail down to the Wyllie beach, which was gorgeous and we've seen two rainbows on the very first day!

It was raining on and off almost every day, but it was really nice and warm, and the rain didn't disturb any of our plans. Hikes were muddy (as usual on Kauai), but we knew what we were going for and we were prepared with our hiking shoes and poles and it was absolutely wonderful. It was very convenient to be able to wash our shoes and sticks using the garden hose outside the house - this way we could contribute in keeping up this nice condo!

Thank you, Ken and Chloe - we had a great vacation!
