We fell in love with the Kauai North Shore, Puamana is the perfect spot to enjoy the convenience of Princeville yet still have the peace and tranquility we seek when at Kauai
Beautiful setting for this peaceful 1 story townhouse end unit, with convenient close by parking and no stairs! Short walking distance to fine dining at the Westin Resort, short walk down the Queens path to very quiet Anini Beach, pleasant walk to Sealodge and Hideaways beaches and the St. Regis Resort. Very short drive to all the beautiful spots of North Shore including Secret Beach, Hanalei town and bay, Lumahai Beach, Tunnels Beach, Ke'e Beach, Kalalau Trail and the Napali Coast.
We stayed for 8 nights in the condo with my wife, her sister and her husband and found it to be very comfortable with all the amenities that a person would need. The condo was very clean and the fact that it had a washer and dryer was very helpful. The location was good as it was an end unit, we especially like the single story with no stairs to climb. It was convienent to a lot of the beaches on the north end of the island. The owners were very informative and answered all our questions that we had before arriving to the island. We would recommend this condo to anyone traveling with their spouse, friends and couples.
We just returned from a one week stay in this condo 24-A and enjoyed our visit overall.
About the condo:
-Condo is furnished and decorated nicely, and maintained well. It is an end unit in building 24.
-Kitchen is updated nicely.
-Location within the complex is nice, with a large open lawn adjacent.
-Neighbors are friendly.
-Internet is fast.
-Mattresses are very, very soft, and not suitable for anyone who needs a firm mattress.
-All 4 parking spots for this building were taken on a few occasions, so had to go looking for a visitors spot somewhere else.
-Sound travels easily between units (through open windows/doors) due to the configuration and proximity.
-Second TV in the bedroom is an old small CRT.
The trail to Wyllie beach is short but very steep.
Twice previously we had stayed on the east shore and found it convenient. This time we chose the north shore for a change. This added about 45 minutes to the driving time if we wanted to go to Kapa'a or further south such as to Poipu. It took over 2 hours to get to Waimea Canyon. Those considering the North Shore should keep this in mind.
This was our first visit to Kauai. We absolutely love the island. We've talked about it and agree that Chloe and Ken's Puamana escape played a large part in making Kauai feel like paradise to my family. There were five in our party - two adults and three grown children. This condo was perfect for us. As noted, the unit has recently undergone a renovation. It is quite updated, with a beautiful kitchen which was well-stocked. We were able to prepare a number of our meals "at home". We thoroughly enjoyed grilling and eating out on the lanai. Every need was anticipated. The unit was stocked with beach towels and beach gear to borrow. The beds and linens were quite comfortable. Everything about the unit was well thought out.
We hope to return to Chloe and Ken's Puamana Paradise again soon!
Every time we visit Kauai and stay in this wonderful condo, it is like coming home! What more can be said? This condo is so comfortable and has all the amenities one needs for an incredible stay! Best of all, we loved all the new upgrades: Kitchen, flooring, bathrooms, paint! It was great before, but now it is exceptional. Can't wait for our next visit! This is our 4th stay with Ken and Chloe at Puamana and as always it was a wonderful trip!! They've recently upgraded the condo and it's so beautiful. There is a feeling of home the moment we walk in the door. The location is central to all the things we enjoy: gardens, beaches, shopping and restaurants. But it's also a peaceful place to stay in and relax when the rains pass through.
We love staying here and can't wait for our next visit!
This was our second stay at Ken and Chloe's condo at Puamana and again we were not disappointed. The grounds are so beautiful, very quiet and relaxing... all you hear are the birds singing. The condo had been newly renovated with a brand new kitchen, bathroom vanities/sinks and ceramic tile throughout the whole condo. It looks great. The kitchen is so well stocked with everything you need so it is easy to prepare meals. There is also your own gas barbeque on the front lanai. The back lanai is perfect for morning coffee and just relaxing. It is great to come home to after a day of touring the Island or enjoying the many gorgeous beaches. Anini beach is our favourite beach, but there is also a great one for watching the surfers, just before heading into Kapaa. Hanalei is a favourite spot, not far from Princeville and there is a great Farmer's Market every Saturday morning with the best fruit and vegs on the Island. We would recommend the Wake Up Cafe in Hanalei for breakfast, if you want a treat, also Bouchons in Hanalei has awesome food at a reasonable price. There are also lots of great places to eat in Kapaa. Ken and Chloe are great to deal with and very quick replying to emails. This has to be the best rental in Princeville and we would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to spend some time in Paradise. We took the helicopter ride with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters and it was the most wonderful thing we have ever done. We would highly recommend it. We had a wonderful time and regret that we are unable to rent this condo for next year, but we will be back! Aloha, until we meet again.
How do you stay on Kauai for one month on a budget? 1. Shop in Kapaa/Lihue at Costco/Safeway/Walmart. 2. Do fantastic free things--hit every beach and sunset. 3. Stay at Ken and Chloe's condo in Princeville. This condo was the key to our month long trip to the North Shore of Kauai. Two bedrooms. Our 11-year old stayed in her own room. Our 15-year old got the fold-out couch in the living room. Parents had the master bedroom. Fully equipped kitchen, including pineapple slicer--that was cool. Fantastic gas barbecue on the front lanai--we used this many times for fish, steak, hamburgers, pineapple, which saved a lot of money. Most condos have communal barbecues--not this one. The covered lanai off the master bedroom was great for morning coffee and watching afternoon rainstorms. We liked the geckos and chickens. (The roosters help get you up early and on to exploring.)
If you are looking for luxury at no expense, this is not your condo. We told our kids that we could have stayed at the luxury property next door for one week or Ken and Chloe's for one month. However, I looked up the rates later and it would have only been 4 days next door. (I am not going to tell you that the kids snuck in to the pools anyway.)
We hit every beach on the North Shore--particularly loving Tunnels (for snorkeling--you can park at Haena State Park beach and walk back), Lumihai (for boogie boarding/jumping off rocks--where South Pacific was filmed), Queen's Bath (a walk and hard to find parking for it in Princeville, but definitely worth the wait in summer) and Hanalei (for sunsets). You can walk from the condo down to Anini Beach, but the best beaches are a drive away.
Ken and Chloe responded immediately to our emails. They provided long lists/maps/details regarding the property and recommended restaurants/beaches/shops. Really excellent owners. We have stayed several times on the North Shore. I spend a great deal of time looking for a good reviewed property at good prices. This one is the best. And, as good as their weekly rate is, they have an even better monthly rate. So, the longer you stay, the more you save!
Any drawbacks? Not really. It is an older property. But, the grounds are well-maintained. We felt very safe. It would have been nice to have easier access to ocean views--we snuck on to the golf course around sunset (and also the luxury property next door).
Overall, this condo was the key to one of our best vacations ever.
