Brendan Grogan purchased this cottage in 1994
We were made to feel very welcome at the coach house, it was such a perfect little retreat for us all and we had the best time here and felt very relaxed. The coach house was so so clean and all the little touches were an added bonus (milk, orange juice, butter, bread, tea, coffee, sugar etc:). We really enjoyed our stay and were sad to leave :(
Thank you, we will certainly hang on to your details for future visits :)
When we arrived at The Coach House, we received a beautiful warm welcome from Brendan & Jean. We were shown the house and immediately felt very welcome. The welcome package of Freshly baked bread, milk, eggs, butter, orange juice, red wine and a host of supplies for self catering was a very unexpected but most welcome surprise. The house is set in a glorious woodland and is only a short walk to a lovely beach. The renovations to this historic house are first class and it is superbly appointed, I could not think of a single thing that was missing for the self catering traveler. For those that love quietness, this is the place. It is only a short drive to the delightful town of Dunmore East where we purchased our food supplies, we would thoroughly recommend the fresh seafood from The Spa supermarket. They source their seafood fresh from the trawlers across the road and the lady who served us was so delightful in telling us all about the various products, some of which we had never seen before such as the Razors and we cooked up a storm based on her advice. We loved exploring the local area, did lots of walks and had a most relaxing time in this area, one of the many beautiful parts of Ireland. We could spend weeks relaxing here, this was the best accommodation we had in our 4 week holiday to Ireland and we both have no hesitation in recommending the Coach House to any traveler. Thanks so much Brendan & Jean, from Phil & Greg (Sydney, Australia).
My wife and 2 young daughters couldn't have had a better time. After 5 days of travelling Ireland The coach House at Mount Alto was just what we needed; calm, peaceful and relaxing. The views of the Suir Estuary and morning walks on the beach are remarkable. Brendan and Jean made sure we had the staples in the fridge and also had a fresh loaf of homemade bread and Bottle of wine. I strongly recommend staying here! Nick and Adriana :)
The property belies description as it far exceeds expectations. The mezzanine
bedroom is airy and comfortable with attention to detail making it an attractive base for all sorts of holidays. The hosts Brendan and Jean were very welcoming and the home-made soda bread and wine was a lovely surprise. The court-yard makes a great space for an alfresco meal,
Would recommend to anyone who wants a quality secluded venue 2 minutes from the beach and oyster beds is a bonus. MUST GO AGAIN.!
Having just spent a week at the Coach House, I can thoroughly recommend both the accommodation and the location. The Coach House itself was a pleasure to stay in - carefully maintained and thoughtfully presented. The surrounding area was good for walking, sketching and beach combing and the nearby fishing village of Dunmore East proved to be a little gem. Jean and Brendan (the owners) could not have been more helpful.
Beautiful stay in the coach hostel.
We spent our holidays in the coach house in october and everything was perfect in this
accommodation with a great quality and the inside of this historical building was beautiful.
We received a very warm welcome from the owners, Jean and Brendan, and we enjoyed the
reception with fresh and local food. The surroundings of the house are amazing and you've gota lovely view on the Atlantic ocean. Waterford is not far away so that you can combine both the rural
and natural atmosphere with visits and shopping. From the coach house you'll reach easily
a few miles away the lovely villages on the beach like Dunmore East or Tramore.
A bit further, about three hours, you can enjoy the lovely and beautiful landscapes of the Killarney National parc, the Ring of Kerry and the Cliffs of Moher. Many thanks to Jean and Brendan for their hospitality and devotion for their guests.
